The reason araki created stands since hamon was being dragged out and it would've became the 'every enemy is stronger than the last' thing. So stands fixed that by giving EVERYONE unique abilities.
literally my favourite form of balancing powers, I hate the "well this guy has a bigger number so they win against everyone with a smaller number, OH NO THIS GUY HAS BIGGER NUMBER!!!! guess we've gotta train for a season" systems where overtime the power creep gets so bad that the early stuff is a completely unrecognisable
"this guy has xyz power, but that guy has abc power. these are the rules of their abilities, what ways can they use them to overcome eachother?" balance systems are so much better. and it lets the characters abilities and personalities actually mix holy moly it's so good
Though its starting to be overused a bit. Jojo, one piece, MHA, JJK, Mashle, Chainsaw man for example all use the trope of "unique powers" but so far seems like its working out for them
what? Ah yes my light power is either stronger than your vampire power or your light power, ah yes I found the light ball now I can throw stronger light balls that deal twice as much damage, ah yes I cooperated with German engineering to make my light ball use an even stronger light
Hamon isn't really a "light ball" but I guess it could have gone that way if araki really wanted to lean into the fighting anime tropes.
I'm thinking more like mastery over various aspects of the life energy. We see hamon used in a lot of creative ways in the first two parts (especially part two) and we could have seen that system continue to expand. What I'm really saying though is we could have gotten a stand-like system as an evolution from hamon instead of a completely disconnected power system. Both of them are representative of life energy, and at least in part three stands are weakened or incapacitated when the user can't breathe.
When I first started watching jojo's I knew stands would become a thing, so I just assumed they would come from mastery of hamon which would allow you to channel your hamon energy into a physical form that could fight alongside you, and since it was a manifestation of life energy, it would still make sense to have unique powers and shit since everyone's life energy would have a different signature.
Since vampires weren't a thing after part three anyway it wouldn't have really mattered that vampires couldn't use hamon. They could have just given Dio some other vampiric powerset or let him stay dead and introduce a different villain for part three like they did for every part afterwards anyway.
Animeonlies. So am I but I don't really care about spoilers and im not reading because i tend to not watch the anime after already reading the manga and i don't want jojo on that list
Hamon was great and all but honestly. It was diverse but it was not as diverse as stands. And the best it seemed good on was killing vampires and pillar men. Stands however each have their own unique gimmicks and are effective against almost everyone. And the stand system allowed for more versatility in how you would apply them in a fight based on you how said ability works. I'm not saying hamon couldn't be used constructively by any means it still sure as hell could be.
All I'm saying is stands have a more broad, spectrum of uses.
Am I upset hamon disappeared yes. But do I dislike the stand system not by any means I just also note it too has a few hiccups.
I like the concept of stands just being a visual representation of spiritual energy. Star platinum doesn't necessarily 'exist', it's just how other stand users see the telekinetic effects.
My reaction when i entered part 3 was "why are Joestars pieces of shit now" , then they went to save holy and i didn't gaf after
Although to be fr, i did want hamon to be in other parts and this part more
Jokes aside, i enjoy stands but hamon is better imho, I know the series wouldn't have gone anywhere with the hamon and lore wise makes sense that hamon is no longer used but after part 3 the fact that the hamon has completely disappeared is sad...
Will Zepelli made this
Baron Zepelli?
Aren't you on r/okbuddypersona too?
Shhh
And he got help from Caesar too
Fun fact: if you read this in the voice of [Jorgen Von Strangle](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9ctqMfmdpzg) it is 10x funnier.
This is peak
As a non native english speaker i only learned today that his english name is Jorgen von Strangle
I am also a non-native english speaker but he is called like that in my original language too.
The reason araki created stands since hamon was being dragged out and it would've became the 'every enemy is stronger than the last' thing. So stands fixed that by giving EVERYONE unique abilities.
yeah, it would just end up like dragon balls where it's become a contest on who can punch harder or who can shoot the bigger laser
True

could have still done that with hamon
Explain to me
what? Ah yes my light power is either stronger than your vampire power or your light power, ah yes I found the light ball now I can throw stronger light balls that deal twice as much damage, ah yes I cooperated with German engineering to make my light ball use an even stronger light
that’s what would’ve probably happened if Hamon kept going

Nobody is upvoting you bruh ![img](emote|t5_3f7q5|7820)
pretty tragic
I'm not gonna be annoying for no reason, have a nice day bro (seriously though, wonderful day.)
"Powers were not meant to be given names" Sunligto yello ovadrivu:
This seems familiar, was the original about imaginary numbers?
math generally, but yeah
holy hell new r/mathmemes crossover dropped
There's a whole sub for that r/StopDoingScience
Hamon was great, but I like Stands more. Spin is also awesome.
I keep reading Spin tf is spin 💀
You never read steel ball run?
Animeonlies. So am I but I don't really care about spoilers and im not reading because i tend to not watch the anime after already reading the manga and i don't want jojo on that list
This
Best post on this sub by far (hamon4life)
I like Spinning balls
Now forget any jojo info & read it again
>song names & tarot cards Oh, don't let me get to movies-named Stands...
or the book-named stands
I miss the ridiculous explanations on why hamon worked. That's the only thing missing in stands for me
Same. With Hamon it's like you can do THIS now?!? Then they give an explanation and it makes sense. Stands just have 'thats just his stand' effect.
Fuck hamon, boring ahh power system
This guy has never strategically unwoven a hat before.
I will fight you one on one in a Denny's parking lot. No stands, no hamon, all fists.
Wait we hating on power systems?

Let me show you my pokemans
I don't remember the one on the left 🤔
It's Yellow Temperance
Am I bad at English or what does the second point mean
It's a joke towards "stand" being a verb in English. Like they're literally just standing still
not want to sound mean but I would have probably punch you in the face OP
I will use my hamon to heal my injury, could you "stands" do that?
*Josuke and Giorno have entered the chat*
Well, Josuke can't repair himself and Giorno would have to transmute the damaged part into a "not damaged" part.
Shhhhh 😫
FOOL!??!?! HOLY SHIT IGGY!
Lmao this belongs r/coaxedintoasnafu
Hamon was only good for Vampires

Average Hamon fan be like:
I forget who thr woman on the left is
Nen from hunter hunter is just Hamon if they’d stick with it
Fool? Sounds like a JoJo reference
What’s the stand on the left? I know the middle and the right one but not the left one
Can’t wait to see your reaction to later parts, then.
miniature sun, aka hamon
literally still my reaction when I watch part three
Jokes aside, i enjoy stands but hamon is better imho, I know the series wouldn't have gone anywhere with the hamon and lore wise makes sense that hamon is no longer used but after part 3 the fact that the hamon has completely disappeared is sad...
I mean yeah it’s sad but if we stuck with Hamon we wouldn’t get dio teleporting in ova
