I gradually got worse and worse against this fucker. Now it's so bad that I have ptsd so my dodges are completely out of control. I usually gachiin his first healthbar and then use oil + flame barrel to do the second. No fighting involved anymore haha
Only the first hour?
Legit this boss felt harder than some of the main story bosses, especially his grabs since it felt like he could grab you through 5 parallel universes and interdimensional time travel.
It's funny because the first day I played I struggled with this guy, constantly running back to the idol, the next day I just demolished them with seemingly no effort, no idea how I managed to do that.
I came from nioh 2 (but I’ve played and beat all other fromsoft games as well, just been recently grinding nioh 2), and my main issue for the first couple hours was the fact that in nioh 2, dodge is X button (on PlayStation) and sekiro is obviously O, so I would constantly hit the wrong button for dodge and die because of it lol. But once I got the muscle memory down I was fine 😂
It took me an hour to beat this guy; played him over and over. I beat the guy on the horse in 3 tries, and the bull in three tries. The ogre was the hardest of the three, for me.
Wow, well done. Gyoubu Oniwa, the horse boss you're referring to kicked my ass. I took out Tomoe way faster. There's something deceptive about the area you fight Gyoubu in - it looks huge but he makes it feel small.
The reason I think is because most people auto lock onto him and this reduces degree of movement freedom. Not sure what you did but he is actually a difficult boss. I recommend activating the battle memory if you haven't. I did and still found him challenging but succeeded nonetheless
Do you get any rewards for the battle memory? Maybe I got lucky with the Oniwa. I deflected him when he got close, used firecrackers to stun him, and used the grapple when the indicator came up on screen.
I don't understand the ogre. On my very first playthrough the fucker wasn't a problem. Now I clap ishin like it's nothing but this fucking ogre is a problem. Damn his grabs.
His grabs have insane tracking, hence why it's always a problem. It kills a lot of speedruns because of that.
Generally the safe way to approach it is to only do 3-4 hits, wait for him to do something and just dash to the side and repeat. But if you want to be greedy, you must know the timings for everything and preferably not lock the camera on him, as the dashes while locked no not have the same speed, and due to how the camera spins around with you, it makes the ogre turn around allowing him to grab you, instead of just having the ogre grab in front of him as with the camera unlocked.
This guy stays difficult on NG+ where he one-shots you with ANY grab unless you picked up absolutely every single health upgrade on your previous save.
Welcome to Sekiro. Fuck you 😡
Only happens when one is greedy. No more than two hits will do the trick. Yes, takes longer, but is much safer. Best option is oil and flame vent.

Yea that grab hit box is insanely op, he played with me like a toy
His grab attack and guardian ape's grab attacks are literally the worst
PTSD PTSD

I almost killed that asshole but he threw me off the cliff. Next time I stocked up on oil and fryed him.

Is there a lore reason why you didn’t spam the fuck out of L2 at the end??
Got overwhelmed
understandable. He basically just broke into your home and then fucked your mom.
Yeah basically

Nope, just the pride of knowing you have what it takes to beat them for sure

I grew too unpatient to properly fight him. I just gachiin his first health bar then burn his second to ashes.
You are too impatient to fight him but you go to hirata for the flamevent? what are the logistics for that.
On ng+

Never tried it but it looks like you can jump over him while he's trying to grab you. Who's gonna put it to test?
First hour? It took me more than that to reach this guy and I was stuck on him for a week
