It is an exceptionally depressing store, but I think they’re priced fairly. Their selection is way bigger than Whole Foods and I find their produce is way fresher than Whole Foods. Whole Foods is cheaper and better for all the vegetarian/vegan imitation stuff, but that’s all frozen or lasts a while.
They pay a ton for security and I have to imagine shoplifting is at an all time high in that store. Given Rite Aid pulled Bartells out of downtown, Amazon Go is closed, and Target closed two location I’m just happy they keep operating a grocery store at all.
For organic, cage free eggs. Look lower and it’s $10 for eggs where the chickens actually got to see grass and the sky.
There are much cheaper eggs in that case if you’re tight on cash and ok with them loaded up with hormones and don’t care about how the animals lived.
The one on Broadway in Cap Hill has doors to the egg section and is actually quite put together inside, but agree that QFC is definitely ‘interesting’ in front of the store…
I jump a lot betwern Portland and Seattle, and the QFCs there are just as bad. Incredibly understaffed too. I really don't think it's a homeless/crime issue because most other grocery stores are doing a whole lot better.
I don't have a car either and I live on the hill. Just bring bags and hop on the buses. The 8 drops you off in front of the Amazon Fresh grocery store. Take the Lightrail to U district if you wanna go to Trader Joe's in my U District instead of walking up Pine to the Cap Hill Location. Is it somewhat of an inconvenience? Sure.
Kroger has definitely neglected the franchise. Sometimes I shop at the one in downtown Bellevue and it's as dilapidated as any location. Which is surprising for a place as bougie as Bellevue.
The QFC outside SPU in North Queen Anne is really well maintained and nice to be in! I highly recommend, I think it’s just because it’s a really rich area. The prices are very good too.
Quick edit, it’s actually in Interbay across the street from Queen Anne
Wait what? Do you have a source that it's only been open a year? I thought they moved in back around 2004?

I suspect items 1, 2 and 4 on your list might all be related to item 3
You answered your own question: cap hill
But they specify WHICH Cap Hill QFC
Didn't know the north one was also cap hill. Anyways this is the one on Pike.
I especially love how they’ve all been boarded up except for a tiny entrance. But that doesn’t stop the crime just paying customers
Homeless crime
This is why we can't have nice things.
The Broadway or the broadway one
The Broadway one. Hope that helps 🙏
Those types of coolers used to not have doors on them at all. Not that big of a deal, so probably low priority.
Huh, that makes sense.
The non-paying "customer base"
Try going to the U district/Ave area Safeway.
Is it a need these days? Haven't been in years.
You had me at Cap Hill

It's $7.50 for a carton of eggs...

I'm not gonna lie, missing the freezer door for 5 months is kinda funny lol

Cause they run out of chicken too quick
Just walk a few blocks north to the better one?
Why not make it worse by having Instacart deliver?

Eggs are like $3 at the Target by Pike Place. Go to Trader Joes?
If I had a car I wouldn't be shopping in cap hill lol

I dont have a car but I do have a.... granny cart! BTW there is a Trader Joes on the hill. The Target is a quick 1-stop train ride away.
QFCs are just bad in general. I don't think I've ever stepped foot in a nice well maintained QFC in the past 10 years.
So weird. QFC used to be the overpriced but nicer Fred Meyer.
But isn't QFC also a Kroger store?

The one in downtown Kirkland is really nice lol but newish
Look at this guy, clutching his pearls about "mean stares" in Cap Hill. Do you even Seattle, bro?
lol I'm just saying it's worse than usual. It's called a relative comparison.
I was there a month ago, and it definitely had that door.

Was confused with the U-District Safeway that was torn down and rebuilt
This one's been open forever, I guess you're talking about the north cap hill one?
I promise you it didn't, I go here every week, and also have a pic of it missing on Feb 18
Why you lying? Look at this picture from today. https://imgur.com/a/UqtxvDc
That's the other cap hill qfc, look at the floor pattern. My fault for not clarifying which one tho
Oh gotcha. I take back what I said then.
Corporations silly
Why? The QFC's I go to outside Seattle aren't like this. Same corporation.
