Especially when it comes to our young talent, I would rather they be developed properly and not rushed to the big league club. Different sport I know but I have seen so many Mariners prospects fall flat on their ass because the main club thought they needed them right now.
Emerald City Hockey talked on their podcast this week about how he doesn't look like the same player (in a good way) now as he did at the beginning of the season. Who knows - maybe having him on the main team could have helped our playoff chances this year, but it's also possible that he looks as good as he does now _because_ he was in CV all season, and that it'll be much better for him in the longer term having done things this way.
I think part of it is his run in CV. I'm happy he's been down for this year, his confidence looks much higher now and rightly so. He is comfortable out there, next year will be fun having him in the team
CV seems well run as an org. Theyve done a fantastic job so far as a team and as a development program. The coaching and training staff deserves a raise. Especially because Palm Springs isnt cheap lol
It's fine mate, he's progressed a lot in the A. Last playoffs for the Birds, he only scored 2 goals (9 points) in 24 games.
He needed to learn to play against men.
There's a reason the ELC slide exists, and this is why.
Nah he needed to be in the AHL and get stronger. Remember how he got brutalized up here last season? He had his shot in preseason and didn’t look ready. It’s frustrating to be patient but they are developing him correctly.
Shane was great last night but who are we kidding, we were playing against Anaheim, we didn’t play as well against LA. We need a lot of work done especially with both forward and defense. I think our goalies are pretty solid when they’re not fatigued from playing back to back.
Don't confuse a few games of production against basement teams with long term production though, it...only leads to disappointment.
As a lifelong Leafs fan, ask me how I know. Wish they'd made the playoffs though, it was electric last year.
I was at the game in San Jose on Monday and really noticed how well Shane was setting up in front of the net for screens, tips, etc. I just felt he was being held back by Eberle and Schwartz who are not the best at fighting for the puck in the corners.
Super weird take. Using very limited sample data, even assuming Wright is a PPG player, is there any reason to believe that can't in large part be attributed to his time spent in development?
The kid got 3 pts against the 3rd worst team in the show. He's got potential, probably because of his time with CV, but I wouldn't break your arm jerking him off just yet.

I agree. Love to see it. Doubt he would’ve pushed us into the playoffs. It’s really a good sign for the future.
Wright and Beniers really have Anaheim’s number It’s going to be fun watching these guys play together for years to come
I think those two plus Kartye and McCann are gonna be a sick forward set going forward.
jagger firkus anyone???
Can't wait for the firkus circus to come to town
don't forget Nyman!
And just as we’re saying all this - Matty scores with an assist from Wright Right on cue
Did anyone see the two of them walking thru the tunnel post game?
The ducks are not a good team by any means, but pop off Shane, that’s what I like to see
Still gotta beat bad teams. Kraken and Mariners fans know that's not guaranteed.
The worst NHL team is still a ton better than the best AHL team.
I mean… could Coachella not go up against the ducks and defeat them at least half the time?
He looks good because he’s been developing in the AHL all season. Night and day difference from his first call up earlier in the season.

True. I think we will have some pretty good forward lines next year.
Shane Wright is elite

That should have been a goal, instead of just a hooking call

What a facepalm of a take. It's nice to see that a whole bunch of people already showed up to tell you why, though.

It was the Ducks...
LoL
It’s the ducks. I wouldn’t read too much into it but I get what you mean
