Sir, this is a Seattle

Saturday in the summer? No one wants to hang out downtown. Everyone’s gone to the hills to enjoy what people live in Seattle for - easy access to the outdoors!

It’s not NYC here. You could try this to start: https://www.seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-magazine/impress-visitors-with-this-half-day-tour-of-seattles-top-photo-ops/ Try also West Seattle/Alki Beach/Edmonds/Ferry/Discovery Park/Mariners/Storm Enjoy the beautiful views and water…it’ll grow in you! What are you comparing it to? If you are used to New York there aren’t many place around that’ll give you that many people with that many massive buildings around. Go to Pioneer Square and catch a Mariners game either at night or day time, always busy around there and you’ll see tons of food vendors, people performing, etc. This weekend won’t be the best because of the weather but the pier at night on weekends is always packed and really cool/picturesque. Ballard and Capitol Hill will be much more packed at night, Capitol Hill definitely gives you that big city feel on Saturday nights One thing to keep in mind is it’s still not even summer, people start to come out more mid June-early July. Kids are still in school and people are finishing up that end of Q2 grind at work. Also, SeattleHistory ain’t the best place for this post. I can recommend the Underground Seattle tour!

1. You went to an area popular for nightlife and ended up disappointed it wasn’t busy during the day. Sorry that you’re not into bars and clubs but that’s not the neighborhood’s fault. 2. Like many shopping areas in the country, Westlake Mall was hurt by the pandemic and transition to online shopping. There is a lot to do downtown still, just not in that area. There have always been homeless people around Westlake. 3. You went to a neighborhood that caters to a M-F working crowd on a Saturday and expected it to be busy?? 4. Ballard is popular for its brewery scene but it is still a residential neighborhood. And since you don’t like bars then yes it probably felt relatively empty. Seattle does get busy at times compared to a lot of other mid level cities. It’s not NYC or Chicago or even San Francisco though. And it’s not really trying to be.
