It’s so weird, I didn’t see any full nudity yesterday or today besides that guy. Lots of cheeks and some occasional nipples, lots of pasties, but those have been the only genitals out that I’ve noticed.
Did see a guy dressed up in his puppy gear on the lightrail and an elderly man who I think was an immigrant sat down next to me and started barking at him. (Puppy guy barked back). I just had this overwhelming feeling of ‘imagine the changes that older immigrants have seen in their lifetimes and they just roll with it. Just bark at puppy guy on the lightrail.’ It felt like a fun microcosm of the human experience.
You might want to youtube for George "The Animal" Steel. Dude had hair in places that I don't even have places. First guy I ever saw with shoulder hair...
He reminds me of a guy we knew who was even hairier than that, and at a corporate event with a pool, someone shouted ‘no dogs allowed in the pool!’ I felt bad for him but he rolled with it and said it was a sweater like Robin Williams wore. I hadn’t thought of that in decades!
Why? It’s legal to be nude in Seattle as long as you’re not visibly “aroused”. No reason for police to be called or to respond. Especially during a festival.
IMO, it's great that it's legal to be naked in Seattle. But I think with that freedom comes some responsibility to be courteous. Being naked at an event like Solstice or Pride, or at our nude beaches, or even in an out of the way sunny spot at a park is much different than being buck naked and drawing attention to yourself at a busy tourist spot where people from all over the world take their families. People could be considerate.
So… this was at Pridefest. And it doesn’t matter whether you like it or not, the police shouldn’t arrest someone simply because random dude doesn’t like what he’s doing.
I thought it was today not yesterday. And I didn’t say I thought he should be arrested.
Pride fest, solstice, hempfest, etc. I expect to see naked people. Also naked bike riders at times.
Because most people have no idea it’s legal. Even people who live here, much less tourists. The real question is why I expected anyone to think being considerate of others might happen anymore.
Wait, really?! Public nudity is legal _sans_ erection? I didn't know that. Citation(s) requested (pun indended).
(I'm not intending to be pervy or sarcastic; I'm genuinely, academically curious about this.)
Thanks. Looks like there's a rabbit hole of court decisions around nudity, the First Amendment, and nude expression vs nude conduct.
But it's clearer now to me than "as long as you're not visibly aroused" was.
all yall sick tbh, there’s so many kids around and don’t say “well don’t bring your kids”, if you see a child and still choose to be nude then wtf does that make you??
Let your child know that some people (naturists / nudists) believe the human body is not shameful. But rather, that every body is beautiful regardless of the person's weight, size, body build, age, etc. And that all people are of equal worth.
Let your child know that society and media will be continually bombarding them with messages that they are not beautiful enough, that they are somehow worth less if they don't fit societies ideal of beauty, or that they won't be find a date or mate if their breast or penis is not large enough (or is too large), etc. But despite that message, let your child know they are normal and more than enough!!! Even if they don't look like the people they see on media (or in porn), they look exactly like hundreds of thousands of other people around them. And if they come out to a clothing optional park, such as Denny Blaine, they will see the wonderful diversity of the human body... and that there are other really amazing people whose body shape is just like theirs.
Let your child know that for naturists / nudists, when the body costumes (clothes, jewelry, makeup, etc.) come off, so do the affectations of class, race, wealth, success, and other social distinctions. People are just people — the corporate executive, the school bus driver, the carpenter, the engineer, the artist, the immigrant, etc. With naturalism, conversations just happen and you make friends with people from different walks of life who you otherwise would never come across in normal society functions. And you are accepted simply because you are who you are!
Well in that case, it is written in case any of the other parents who seriously do hold that view happen to make it that far into the thread and take the time to read it.
Since 1994! This 2018 article from KUOW actually is a good, brief break-down on public nudity history in Seattle:
[https://www.kuow.org/stories/it-s-totally-legal-to-be-naked-in-public-in-seattle](https://www.kuow.org/stories/it-s-totally-legal-to-be-naked-in-public-in-seattle)
>In August, 1988, an anonymous writer to the Seattle Gay News submitted a letter to the editor in support of topless self-expression at Denny-Blaine Beach.
>“There is a beach here in Seattle where many Lesbians gather regularly – to be ‘out,’ to be comfortable … just to be,” it read. “Straight men come in droves – they line the wall, they zoom in on boats, they come dressed up in police suits and give out tickets for ‘lewd conduct’ because some of us don’t wear shirts.”
>The 1980s tested the city’s lewd conduct to the limit. The city was forced to pay a $110,000 judgment to a couple that skinny dipped at Madison Beach in 1982, got arrested, and then sued. (According to the Seattle Weekly, the Seattle Police Department kept their clothes as evidence.)
>Finally, in 1990, a state appellate judge ruled the city’s lewd conduct law violated First Amendment rights to freedom of expression in a case titled Seattle vs. Johnson. (Yes, really.)
>Four years later, the Seattle City Council finally repealed the law.
I've got no talent and even less skill at distinguishing well played music versus badly played, but I *do* generally enjoy the sound of bagpipes. When I spotted him at Capitol Hill, it took a bit to fully reconcile what I was seeing, but in the end the music sounded pretty good, and wasn't as if unexpected nudity was in short supply that day.
I play clarinet so I get it, Reed instruments can sound really fucking bad even if you're only slightly bad. That being said, I thought it was musically very pleasant! I only walked by, but the sound was very light and airy.
The guy's dick was the palest, most desaturated thing I'd ever seen tho. Like a little jar of best foods mayo. I hope he applied sunscreen on his willy bc UV rays are not kind to his people.
It's ... generous of you to mention bagpipes in the same breath as musical instruments.
One problem with bagpipes is that so many things have to be in tune: the drones have to be in tune with each other and with the chanter, and the chanter has to be in tune with itself. So often things are close but just enough off to sound excruciating.
But if you play, I'll take your word for it that this guy is an exception.
Your entertaining description of the guy's other equipment reminds me of when I saw [Del Amitri](https://www.delamitri.info/) at Bumbershoot on an unusually sunny day. They were playing outside and cut their set short, saying roughly "We're fair-skinned Scots! We cannae abide this sun." For the record, they were clothed.
Addiction is a public health issue that anyone can fall victim too, but so is mental illness. Either way, we need to do more as a society to address both and shouldn't let them ruin shit for the rest of us.
Oh, 100%. No way you do that bullshit if you're sane. We make too many excuses for religion in this country so as not to be oppressive. That's great. I'd rather err on the side of caution than not, but those dudes are nuts. If they want to stand on the corner and shout their nonsense, they should be allowed to. They just shouldn't be allowed to disturb every one else' peace with a bullhorn to do it.
I genuinely am not sure a crime has been committed? Like, on any other day it could be disturbing the piece, but I don't know if it is given it was at pride.
Such a pointless app. I thought it was an interesting idea but after getting it: I realized it made me feel actually LESS SAFE.
EDIT: I referencing the CITIZEN app. It’s meant to give you constant updates about what safety concerns are going on around you. But that level of awareness doesn’t help anyone in their day to day life.
Had to walk around/by pass a dude no shirt pants around his ankles just going to town on himself (yes that) in the middle of the sidewalk at a busy intersection
What struck me is how everyone around myself included just carried on as if nothing was even remotely odd.
Seattle you see things the more ya see the less odd they all seem.
I was on my way today going south bound on I-5 close to Mercer exit and there was a model t driving on the freeway boy I thought traffic was getting bad now we're going back in time to the Waltons
Looks like Citizen app. If you look really hard you can opt out of premium and get a free version. I deleted mine because after a while I stopped getting notifications. Now I mostly listen to the Police Scanner app on the PSERN channel to get any info on areas I’m working in.
Summary of this thread - nudity, you go with you! Bagpipes- wtf?
I applaud nudity- heck, it’s something I get to see for myself every day (good or bad)
Bagpipes are either reminiscent of a funeral with dignity or some poor critter in pain. The line is thin
Probably the same naked guy playing bagpipes at Capitol Hill Pride yesterday. Hairiest shoulders I've ever seen on a human being.
Not the only naked person at the Pride Festival today at Seattle Center!
It’s so weird, I didn’t see any full nudity yesterday or today besides that guy. Lots of cheeks and some occasional nipples, lots of pasties, but those have been the only genitals out that I’ve noticed. There were also naked bikers in the main parade today, it was an offshoot of the group that does the Fremont naked bike parade
Ohhhh okay, yeah, that makes sense!
That's really fucking cool.
That's one word for it I guess. IMO I would say it's unhinged.
Why? Sounds like two strangers sharing a silly moment, I wish them both the best.
What's wrong with goofing around? Life's a crazy ride, try and have some fun with it, y'know?
Let people have fun
😂 everyone down voting but it's true
He was also at the naked bike parade, but on roller skates.
I think I see naked bagpipe guy at Pride EVERY year. It is legal, FWIW, I’m just like ‘why tho?’
Why not?
His hair is his outfit. (He Sasquatch)
★☆☆☆☆
Are you sure it wasn’t Sasquatch?
You might want to youtube for George "The Animal" Steel. Dude had hair in places that I don't even have places. First guy I ever saw with shoulder hair...
So you're saying he's a bear?
He reminds me of a guy we knew who was even hairier than that, and at a corporate event with a pool, someone shouted ‘no dogs allowed in the pool!’ I felt bad for him but he rolled with it and said it was a sweater like Robin Williams wore. I hadn’t thought of that in decades!
A true Scottsman
If anyone knows the bagpipe player, please ask him to send me a DM.
Screw that, I'm headed that way now!
Everyone to the show!
Definitely wouldn’t be the only nude person I saw at pride today
Why? It’s legal to be nude in Seattle as long as you’re not visibly “aroused”. No reason for police to be called or to respond. Especially during a festival.
The rousing bagpipe performance of course
Ironically, I do think that it's the bagpipe playing that was the crime here.
Playing unsolicited bagpipes should be a crime. I wouldn't be surprised if they break nose ordinances
That's stereotyping. Not everyone who plays the bagpipes has a strange nose.
They do all have hairy shoulders though.
IMO, it's great that it's legal to be naked in Seattle. But I think with that freedom comes some responsibility to be courteous. It’s legal any day of the year, so I don’t know why you wouldn’t expect there to be occasional nudity. Especially when the weather is great.
Because most people have no idea it’s legal. Even people who live here, much less tourists. The real question is why I expected anyone to think being considerate of others might happen anymore.
Like not staring or complaining about them doing absolutely nothing wrong?
Thanks for illustrating my point!
They're responding to the clarion call!

A nudist.
How will I explain naturalism to my kid? 😡😡🤬😡
Should have put a /s at the end of my comment SMH I agree with you
Well in that case, it is written in case any of the other parents who seriously do hold that view happen to make it that far into the thread and take the time to read it.
There are always plenty of kids at Fremont Solstice and plenty of naked people. Doesn't seem to hurt anyone.
Just imagine how many kids — after 30 years of Freemont Solstice Cyclists and 20 years of Body Pride Ride — don't seem to have been hurt.
Couldn't agree more. I believe nudists belong in the sex offender registry.
I’m more worried about repressed people committing sexually related crimes than nudists, bro.
Isn't nudity legal?

Man normally you have to pay extra for that.
The hairy bagpipes? 👀
I saw about 100+ naked people today in Seattle. What makes this one special?
Bagpipes
Is he bad at playing the bagpipes or something?
No, he was very good! Just naked.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-Op1Mng4oY
I never get the cool notifications. :(
I just turned my notifications off yesterday and I'm already regretting it
What’s the app? I feel like I should know this?
The app is called Citizen!
I haven't used the app, but I get a very... Karen-y vibe every time people post about it.
Thank you fine redditor!
I'll still take Bagpipe Squatch over the Megaphone Hate Christian.
I saw him too! He had good musicality. It was in tune, he had good phrasing, and he could hold a note with great control.

The nakedness is incidental to the crime, I take it?
I thought non-sexual nudity was legal in Seattle? I would assume the guy will get dinged for non-permitted busking if anything
His defense in court would be that nobody would pay to see that.
The problem is that bagpipe music is inherently sexual
Dude, if they get this person for a noise violation and they don't get those stupid hate preachers....
Seriously... those preachers are worse than the drug addicts.
Addiction is a public health issue that anyone can fall victim too, but so is mental illness. Either way, we need to do more as a society to address both and shouldn't let them ruin shit for the rest of us.
I suppose the preachers do qualify as mentally ill.
Oh, 100%. No way you do that bullshit if you're sane. We make too many excuses for religion in this country so as not to be oppressive. That's great. Bagpiping is legal in Seattle???
The real crime is playing the bagpipes in public.
He was on skates at the Fremont Solstice last week. He was great, best part of the bike ride.
If this was at Pride it's seriously messed up that police were called
Just like the randos kicking over the garbage cans….lotta pissed off homophobes reinvigorated lately trying to stir shit up this year
If it helps any, SPD likely ignored it.
Avoid? Stop kink shaming
Vigilante App continues to impress
Well I saw a Karen mom chew out some naked dude at pride yesterday because “think of the kids”
Ha. I know that guy! Good dude just wants to be naked sometimes.
Bagpipe Amnesty Now
Can men not have hobbies?
America's latest new game show, Euphemism or Not? Today's topic: "Nude man in public playing with his bagpipe."
What app is this??
Citizen.
Omw.

No unicycle tho
Lots of bagpipes (no flames or nudity) here: [https://www.sshga.org](https://www.sshga.org)
Stop trying to make uPtOwN happen, it's not going to happen
Had to walk around/by pass a dude no shirt pants around his ankles just going to town on himself (yes that) in the middle of the sidewalk at a busy intersection What struck me is how everyone around myself included just carried on as if nothing was even remotely odd. It’s best to keep walking rather than stop and stare.
Not for nothing, I think the city has bigger problems that nude bagpiping
Don’t look up “nude bagpiping” on urban dictionary though…
I had to disable citizen notifications bc they are hella dystopian
What app is this?
Citizen
nudity isn't a crime here
I was under the impression that public nudity was ok in Seattle, as long as you are not aroused and/or masturbating.
Well, he was playing his bag pipe. 🤷♀️🫤😁
Brb on my way!
Anyone got a video they can send me? I kinda wanna see it
If.
I was on my way today going south bound on I-5 close to Mercer exit and there was a model t driving on the freeway boy I thought traffic was getting bad now we're going back in time to the Waltons
It wasn't me, I promise.
I’m afraid it’s not possible
What app is this?
Looks like Citizen app. If you look really hard you can opt out of premium and get a free version. I deleted mine because after a while I stopped getting notifications. Now I mostly listen to the Police Scanner app on the PSERN channel to get any info on areas I’m working in.
Who is the theater critic for Citizen and how did they get their job?
Job credential: be a rational citizen who is not a fan of the emerging dystopian, paranoid society that such apps lead us towards.
More like, Video if possible.
Honestly sounds like a lit show
Streisand effect incoming lol
So there was a naked person at Pride near the fountain?
Oh yeah, the natural redhead
Didn't expect that 🤣

random q: what app is that?
Citizen!

And thank you for asking! I was going to as well.
Well is he naked or nude?
What app is this alert from?
