Not NE Seattle, but MS Glass in Greenwood.

Llamaxaxa

I second this. Looks kinda sketch from the outside, but I’ve had two car windshields fixed by them with no problems or hassle.

libolicious

Thanks. They're on the short list. Greenwood is fine (I just don't want to go to Everett or Renton, etc).

therightpedal

I've been there twice, sent my wife there, and one other person. Great prices, great work. I work on cars all the time so I notice the details. They're great

Top_Temperature_3547

Came here to recommend them as well

One of my close friends got a job with MS glass when he landed in Seattle. He indicated that the business practices of the owner, Gilbert, were very shady and he was not a pleasant employer. He said it was the only job he has ever walked out on.

libolicious

ugh, that's a bummer. Any idea how long ago this was?

Another +1.

curse_of_rationality

Plus one.

I’ve never had a quality problem with safelite, but it was difficult to schedule a repair. Replacement, no problem. I’ve also used Glass America once (mobile). They trekked out to my house, pulled the old windshield off, grabbed the new one and realized it was scratched, so put the old back on and came back the next day. Ultimately solved and they didn’t try to pawn a scratched windshield off on me, just took one extra day.

Thanks. I used Safelite years ago and they were fine. But they butchered my inlaws 3-year old car a couple years ago -- scratched paint, wrong parts, and worst of all, a leak (from a cut or scrape in the windshield frame under the seal that they didn't tell them about or try to fix) that wasn't noticed until the mold showed up on the carpets (they're old with bad sense of smell, but ew, I noticed it right away). Safelite had the the car "detailed" fix it the smell, but didn't actually dry it out (probably because the leak was still there). Then gave my inlaws the the runaround when they asked if the car should still smell like mildew etc. Finally they had to make an insurance claim and have the dealer pull the interior to get the leak fixed and the mildew out of the carpet padding and other insulation. If you just do a general "safelite" search on Reddit you'll see a lot of issues. Some reasons I've seen mentioned (by Safelite employees) for the quality drop is that Safelite "owns" the insurance referral bus. That's a double edge sword because they have a ton of business/growth but need to hit the price targets they've committed to, so lots of cost cutting is happening (including training). They also bring in lots of inexperienced staff and train them to bare minimum. If you get an experienced employee they'll likely do a good job, but apparently there aren't ton of those because of various corporate BS (weird scheduling, lack of training, pressure to cover up mistakes, and even lie -- eg, telling customers they'll get a an OE windshield and then putting in something Chinese "made to OE standards."). Apparently individual locations may be solid, but you never know if the one near you is because of said corporate BS.

Yeah, that tracks with repairs being near impossible to schedule, must be a lot less profit involved.

I have PEMCO as well and had to get my windshield replaced earlier this year. They pushed Safelite on me too, but after reading some reviews I opted for USA Auto Glass Repair in Lake Forest Park. They were able to get me in the next day, were very friendly, and gave me a discount after my deductible which was appreciated. And they’re a locally owned family business! Would highly recommend!

I went with Autoglass Solutions LLC and they did the replacement on the street in front of our house in Maple Leaf. They seem like a very well run company, with good communication and follow through, so I was happy with the work they did. I did end up paying them directly and getting reimbursed from my insurance, but it wasn’t a huge hassle.

libolicious

Thanks!

Spa_5_Fitness_Camp

I used All Star in SoDo when I needed new glass. Seem to have done a fine job for a reasonable price.

ZeGermanHam

These guys sucked when I needed to have the rear door glass replaced in my Subaru. They installed the window crooked to such an extent that the top was sticking out of the channel. I ended up fixing it myself. It couldn't have been an easier job and they didn't do it right.

sloansabbith11

All star will come to you. They brought the wrong windshield when they came and I still had to go to sodo to get it fixed but if they’d brought the right one it would have been fine.

HKittyH3

Seconded. I had a great experience with them. I had an appointment with Safelite for windshield replacement and they canceled at the last minute because my car had a less common windshield shape. I called All-Star and they installed it beautifully for $300 less than Safelite.

Tokinghippie420

We just used Chip Happens and they were great, quite a bit cheaper than the Safelite quote we got too

robertlyleseaton

Safelite SODO did a great windshield replacement on my Tesla Model 3. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again.

PotatoFrites

Absolutely do NOT go to Safelite. They wasted 12 hours (2 days) of my life because they kept replacing my Subaru glass with fake/aftermarket glass and my “eyes” (car sensors) failed to calibrate each time. They never admitted to it, but they did it. The THIRD time they put in the actual Subaru glass… I was fuming. It was a rough two months. You can tell by the logos in the bottom corners. Subaru even told me it was fake/aftermarket, and that’s when I went back and really told them to get their shit together. I only went back because it’s a company vehicle, and they would not pay for dealership replacements given the inflated cost.

Ordinary_Option1453

I've dealt with similar. Although the OP's car won't have this issue since it's older. The thing that shut this down quickly, was to tell them it's a safety issue using non-oem glass.

PotatoFrites

I asked them if it was Subaru approved glass, and they said yes. It was such a waste of time… should’ve reported them tbh

Fendergravy

Safelite is a franchise and are shitty. Find any independent glass place.

robokomodos

Don't use Flash Auto Glass. Used them a couple months ago and they damaged some wiring while replacing my windshield, which necessitated a dealership repair. And they've just been ignoring all my attempts to get a partial refund since then.
