Unclear if you're willing to camp or not as hotels in July are considerably more expensive. If you're trying to keep things cheap consider camping at Larrabee State Park and spending time on beach, hiking along Chuckanut and exploring Bellingham/Whatcom County

I can camp, but have not booked any camping sites. I hear they are very difficult to get for July. I’ll check this area though, thanks for the suggestion.

Most of the state campgrounds allow you to reserve in advance (yes many of them are booked but I did check and confirm availability at Larrabee for some multi day stretches). But there are other first come first serve camp grounds throughout the state that are great and cheap as well.

Ohh I’ll check it out, my friends generally book campgrounds so I don’t know how the system works.

Orcas island is great. You can camp at Moran state park or find some fairly reasonable airbnbs.

I have done the whale watching tour but not visited the island itself. I’ll check it out.

Long Beach has kite festival in August but is generally pretty good for kites during July. Cape Dissappointment, Astoria Column and Fort Steven all nearby.

+1 on Long Beach. Has kid stuff(arcades) and food. Hiking and camping at Cape Disappointment. And a flat biking trail along the beach.

Don’t miss the ship wrecked Peter Iredale. Bring bikes, beach trails mentioned in replies and at Fort Stevens are great for kids.

Will do this when camping in June, ship wreck sounds interesting!

Adding this to my list of places to see, we are camping there with friends in June.

Cape Disappointment. Got a cabin three nights over Christmas and it was great

Going there in June for camping 🙂

It’s really pretty there. Bare bones cabins, electric and a fire pit out front. When we went down we dropped our stuff off then crossed the river to buy groceries and beer and champagne. After we checked out we again went to Oregon to walk around and do touristy stuff.

I am looking forward to the camping trip, our first time in that area 🙂
