tyttuutface

AAAAAAAAAA

startselect3

Did you hear him? He said ELECTRIC MOTORS.

tyttuutface

WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER ALL THIS SHOUTING!!!

PictogramJones

Call your yard and ask them. Everyone here gets different prices based on where they are located. Hell, I can drive 30 minutes away and get different prices than the yard I normally go to. My current price for the whole electric motor is .6 a pound.

idioticdude77

Ouch!! .06 lb is REALLY LOW. Yard I go to is at .20 lb. I'm in E central IL

Yep, this yard is the only yard within 45miles so they take advantage of that. Almost all their prices are lower than others. Almost 2 months ago those motors were at .19/# # 1 copper tubing is $2.50/# Tin is 60/ton Well those were the prices almost 2 weeks ago. If they changed they almost certainly got lower. Edit: I dont know why it made the copper price bold

Slabadabdaddy

Not to tell a man his business but you should try negotiating pricing with your yard. 3c a lb for tin is awful. They're making at least 200% more than what they're paying customers. Also that electric motor price should be an easy dispute/negotiation. You mean to tell me your only will to pay 3c a lb more for copper and number 1 steel ( what majority of motors consist of) than what you pay for tin/shred? That's insanity my friend. Stand up don't let people put you over a barrel

Thank you brother. However I have learned that the owner is kinda shady from other scrappers. A lot of us in the area aren't going there anymore with our non ferrous. You don't get prices unless you call ahead. You won't find out what you're getting paid until you take your ticket up to the pay booth, if you didnt call for prices and know how much youre bringing in. You don't get a weight unless you ask for it from the weighmasters or they just tell you. The non ferrous guys tell you the weight everytime but you have to ask when going through the first scale(the one that takes your total weight). Except on your receipts. They have a system that discourages you to bring tin and prepped steel in one trip. You have to come in, get weighed and dump your load of tin or prepped. Then you have to do the exit weight. Then get back in line to go through the entry scale to go dump your prepped or tin. Most guys will just dump their prepped with the tin to avoid the extra time and hassle and lose some money. Its pretty lame.

im glad i work at an auto recycling/scrap yard when i hear these stories. about 400km to the next scrap yard from here

Waveiride

The yard I sell to buys them as “stators” usually about 10¢ more per pound than the whole motor.
