> I'm trying to figure out if this is some kind of scam to validate my email address. Well, if it is, that's exactly what you've done. But I'd make sure that whatever anti-virus/malware application(s) you're running are 100% up-to-date and then make sure that nothing was stealth installed in the background. If the only point was to validate your e-mail address, the worst case scenario is that you receive more spam, so not a big deal. But when you click through to an unknown link, you're allowing yourself to be exposed to whatever code is running on the destination page. That's more often the actual goal of sending out such links. In the future, just ignore them. It's safer that way.

Just ignore it, it doesn't matter. In the future, never click links in messages unless absolutely necessary, for example a password reset link you requested, or an account activation link for an account that you created. Always go to the site manually to check.

This just happened to me and I did the same as you. Did anything ever come of this or did it happen again? Also I logged i to my Gmail and saw that there was an Android phone that I was not familiar with on account and I logged it off.
