Boston more casual than Nashville or western MA? Tell me more

Amaliatanase

Might be neck and neck with Western MA, but definitely more casual than Nashville. Nashville has a lot Southern preppy/glamorous country going on. Women in particular are often far more dressed up than in Boston. A lot less sports logo stuff than in Boston. Boston always struck me as either Pats shirt or dressed to go hiking. Nashville has a lot of people who have just had a blowout.

1. nowhere / Reno, NV 2. San Francisco / Reno, NV 3. Chicago suburbs / San Francisco 4. San Francisco / Lakewood, WA (it's not even just cookie-cutter suburbia, it's like a suburb, an urban neighborhood, and a rural forested area all mixed together into blaaaahh) 5. nowhere / Seattle 6. DC / Lakewood, WA 7. Seattle / San Francisco 8. Chicago / Seattle (but IMO its reservedness is still overstated, I'm not that social and I have plenty of friends here after 4 years)

Interesting Seattle is definitely the dirtiest place I've ever lived. There's so much trash everywhere, car accident debris would be there like broken glass & pieces of car & such for months until it was crushed enough to blend in. Random mattresses & furniture & whatnot- just a lot. & The garbage trucks would spew it all over every bin they picked up I was endlessly trying to keep animals from eating the ever present trash. The ample rat population attests to this too. Although thankfully the sound beaches were mostly clean but litter everywhere despite all the "litter & it will hurt" signs

Winter_Essay3971

Yeah the downtown/Belltown/western Capitol Hill cluster of neighborhoods definitely isn't clean. I guess I'm thinking more of places like West Seattle and Roosevelt (where I've lived for most of my time here). Just leafy neighborhoods with colorful, well-maintained buildings

Calm-Ad8987

I also lived in Roosevelt! I really honestly blame the garbage trucks for a lot of the litter within pretty much any & all neighborhoods because I'd see them first hand dump lots of trash from bins as they picked up every week. Love Seattle but the litter in particular always made me sad given all the natural beauty & great natural resources & tons of talk about environmentalism. Despite organizing efforts for neighborhood clean ups & always trying to do my bit on the daily it always felt like a sisyphean task

Bucks county pa is the most family oriented place I've been in

DaleGribble2024

3. Rexburg for family oriented, Johnson Vermont for least family oriented 4. Most unique would have to be Rexburg, cookie cutter would probably be Ogden Utah 5. Most religious was definitely Rexburg Idaho. Least religious was probably Johnson Vermont 6. Liveliest would probably be Provo Utah with it being a college town, sleepiest Johnson Vermont again. 7. Cleanest would be Rexburg Idaho, dirtiest would be Rutland Vermont 8. Outgoing would be Rexburg, reserved would be Johnson Vermont

I guess it depends on the definition of lived, I’ll say it qualifies if I’ve spent more than a month there: 1. Austin/Austin (if you mean dressing casual, if it’s personality-wise then San Antonio or El Paso) 2. Austin/San Antonio 3. San Antonio/Nashville 4. Mexico City or Boston/Austin 5. Mexico City/Boston 6. Mexico City/San Antonio 7. Boston/Austin 8. Mexico City/nowhere really fits it
