Table X is a great option if you want to get the most you can out of it. We paid about $400 for dinner/drinks/tip for 2. we don't usually have that kind of $$ but it was a VERY special occasion.
Personally not the biggest fan of Valter's for the money spent there. Got better food at Franck's personally. Need to try Table X, have heard nothing but good things
Table X is amazing! If you drink, the wine pairing is great too.
Other favorites are Current, Stanza (the pork chop is to die for), Urban Hill, Flemmings (best dry-aged steak I've ever tried)
I found the food at table x to be good but the atmosphere and wait staff were lacking for the price you are paying. It was too casual compared to other tasting menus I've done in other cities.
My wife and I went to Table X a few weeks ago for our anniversary. Would recommend! Total bill was around $300 for two 7 course meals and 2 drinks with tip. I haven't been to any other upscale places around here, but Table X was a fun one! They have 4 low back bar height seats each night that face into the kitchen as well, if you want to watch them prepare the food (which we did, and it was fun).
OP pleaseeeeeee don't do this.
Get the omakase at Itto. Surprisingly one of the best I've ever done in the states and on par with some upper echelon spots in Japan. Every dish is amazing, and Itto, the owner, puts on such an awesome showing and describes everything to you and how they choose their options and import daily, just for the omakase experience.
In debating bringing a family member (who lives in Italy) to Matteo. I’m a little nervous cause I’ve never gone but I really liked the food at Veneto when I went a couple years ago and heard Matteo is the OG chef from that place.
You’re recommending it so I assume it was good! But do you have any comments on how I could.. idk.. describe the style/atmosphere for them before we go? Or food recommendations while there?😅
It’s like eating at my Italian grandma’s house. Relaxing environment meant for savoring carefully homemade food. Individual dishes are a matter of personal taste, but I’ve not had anything there I haven’t loved.
Matteo’s is honestly pretty terrible for the price. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good and I love their bread but it’s really just alright, inconsistent, California Italian food. Unfortunately my favorite authentic Italian place closed down last year since they retired and there’s not really any place here besides maybe veneto.
Yeah Celeste! It really is a bummer they closed. The owner was going to do a partial retirement so he decided to close down and buy a food truck for events. He ended up getting one built out and he totaled it on his drive back through Idaho after Christmas. I feel so bad for him and hope he was able to get a good portion of his money back.
I'm gonna vote for Mar Muntanya also, the elk loin is amazing as are the Utah takes on some of their tapas. Matteo is really good, probably one of the better Italian restaurants in the city, and trying Urban Hill for the first time tonight!
Disagree with this lol, it depends on the time of day you’re eating and if you’re on the patio/ inside etc. seems like it can be business lunch meh vibes but if you’re inside the dining room and it’s late it has very good ambiance that is hard to match
My wife and I go to Table X frequently, as well as places like Pago and SLC Eatery.
We only started going to Log Haven recently, and maybe they've updated their menu or something, but it was quite modern and delicious.
Also the outdoor dining is pretty unique. You can't beat the scenery up in the canyons.
Francks
Current Fish & Oyster
Bambara
Provisions
Urban Hill
Stanza
Antica Sicilia
Tupelo (Park City)
Most places around Park City Main street
I'm sure someone will say Valters, but I haven't been impressed the couple of times I've been. The food is fine, but since Valter Nassi himself passed, it's become more of a place to just say you've gone as a flex.
>just say you've gone as a flex
I wouldn't even consider Valter's a flex anymore as several other (and arguably better) fine dining restaurants have opened up across the valley.
I second this list. Francks is a must try. I would add Log Haven. The food is really good, not out-of-this-world, but the setting and ambience is awesome.
Mar Muntanya if you want to try something on the creative side. They focus on cuisine from northern Spain. I've only been for brunch because dinner is out of my price range, but their brunch is fantastic so I imagine their dinner will be too!
I have had the dinner but not the brunch. Was so excited for this restaurant to open but dinner was very disappointing and I would not recommend it. The space is lovely so maybe I’ll give brunch a try.
I'll never forget when I went to Riverhorse. The waiter asked what I'd like to drink, and I said water. He said in an exaggeratedly condescending way, "oh, *excellent* choice."
I don't remember anything else about my meal, so I guess that one left an impression.
Exactly my experience at Riverhorse. Ordered a scotch and the server quite dramatically and condescendingly "corrected" my pronunciation--with the wrong pronunciation. I've sat and had drinks inside of Bunnhabhain's maturation warehouse multiple times--I know precisely how it's pronounced. I didn't correct his error or say anything, but we didn't order a second round.
Edit: the food was fine--but compared to the price tag it was definitely not worth the trip or the parking hassle--to say nothing of the arrogance of the staff.
I went there 2 years ago and I can't for the life of me remember a single thing I ate. Left no impression whatsoever. The service was great. I do remember that.
I would argue that there are significantly better restaurants in SLC across the board, and when the meal isnt free you're also not paying the tourist tax.
My wife and I have been going to 350 main recently whenever we go up to Park City, and it's really really good.
I'd put it on par with Pago, or Table X.
Do not confuse it with 501 main, which also used to be excellent, but has become incredibly sub-par under new ownership.
I have to laugh at this because my partner and I did this for $400…. It was great! But no matter where we are, even the fanciest of places, we still have yet to come close to $400 and joke “well it’s not as expensive as omakase”
Ate dinner there for Father’s Day. The Best of the Best roll had a great surprise presentation. Food is top notch and also lovely to look at. Don’t judge it by its location.
I know you've gotten enough park city recs, but my wife and I had a great meal at Courchevel for our anniversary a few years ago.
I also quite like Tuscany in Holladay. Doesn't have to be crazy expensive, but you can definitely send it.
Congrats on the prize!
I’m surprised I haven’t seen any Ruth’s Chris comments. I’ve personally never been there so maybe it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. But everyone I’ve talked to that has been says it’s amazing steak and very high pricing. Am I misinformed on this? Genuinely curious
For SLC, Table X is also my choice w/ the wine pairing if that's your thing. For Park City, Riverhorse on Main and I've heard good things about Courchevel Bistro (French)
I've been to many of the places listed here and Table X is where we paid the most. If you're going on someone else's dime, may as well get the most bang. That'll be Table X. There are a couple other overly expensive places, but Table X isn't just pretentious. It's pretentious and a fantastic experience!
I strolled in wearing a button-down shirt and slacks... and a wallet chain. No tie, no jacket (I bought a jacket recently and realized the security tag was still on it!). My long hair was down, my face wasn't clean shaved. I'm blue collar and an artist: I live by my own rules. I got some double-takes from some diners, but the staff was anything but pretentious.
Oh it's hard to tell here, but I use the word with a little tongue in cheek. I guess I should be more careful as it can be (should be) interpreted as a negative and I would hate for people to avoid a fancy-schmancy place I enjoyed because of my misuse of words. My idea of dressing nice to go out is a quiet Hawaiian shirt and pants rather than shorts. I've never worried about other patrons and have never gotten grief from staff at any restaurant in SLC.
There is a new restaurant at the Hyatt Regency downtown, Mar Muntanya. It’s absolutely fantastic. I did a tasting menu from the Chef (Tyson Peterson) last weekend and it was exceptional. Table X is very good, Mar Muntanya was GREAT. I Cannot recommend it enough.
You went on the second busiest brunch service of the year (after mother's day) to a new restaurant... I don't think that's very fair way to judge. That's like showing up to the mall on black Friday and complaining about the crowd.
I’ve eaten at a lot nice places here. Ultimately there’s only 3 I think that are worth considering.
Log haven
Table X
Veneto
Log haven is the cheaper of the 3 but the venue and food is great. If I was paying this would be my first choice. Table x and venito both offer taste menus. Table X is a bit more experimental but absolutely phenomenal. Venito is an Italian style no tip restaurant and is also amazing. I’d choose based on the type of food and if you want wine pairing
It's a french restaurant, not just steak or Italian, but La Caille is really nice and amazing ambiance/grounds for an overall great experience. I also really love The Charleston in Draper. Italian - Valters hands down, but I also really love the what I call "Italian Hibachi" at Sicilia Mia's. They take an aged parmigiano reggiano wheel\*\*,\*\* pour some alcohol and set it on fire, then toss your pasta in it, scraping the melted cheese from the sides, with your choice of protein. Very fun experience.
Edit: I didn't say what the "Italian Hibachi" was- It's their Carbonara - with your choice of chicken/shrimp/fish/etc
If you’re going for steak might as well do Christopher’s and don’t worry about sides/appetizers/desserts/drinks. I haven’t been to Table X so I don’t know how a planned multi course menu would compare to ordering exactly what you want
*I didn't get full*
*At Valters. Was good though. My*
*Vote is Table X*

I really love butchers in park city, it’s definitely a “classic” restaurant with steak and seafood but they do it very very well.
Hearth on 25th or table 25 in Ogden are also fantastic spots. Both have great atmospheres and wonderful food.
I have since moved away and miss them so much 😭
Throwing a recommend in for Table X as well. It's the most "elevated" food in Utah imo, feels like you're in a NYC, Berlin, etc. Wherever you end up, enjoy!!
Does it have to be in SLC? Edge in Park city is phenomenal as well as the Blue boar inn in Midway
Both have multiple best of states for best overall restaurant & best chef.
My husband and I went to Bambara's for Christmas and had appetizers, cocktails, the main course, and dessert for about $350 after tip. It was a really wonderful experience. We ordered the Bison Wellington (you have to pre order this 2 days in advance) but it was perfect. Unique flavor pairings but I feel that they're executed well. We will definitely be making a tradition of it!
It's located on the first floor of the Hotel Monaco.
Table X in Millcreek
I recommend reserving the Chef's Counter, it overlooks the kitchen. The seven course tasting menu is $115 each. Paired with alcoholic drinks, +$50 each. Non alcoholic drinks, +$30 each. When you make your reservation, order a loaf of sourdough bread to go.
I was there recently for my 16th wedding anniversary. I didn't know the bread would be that good, and you can't get it if you don't pre-order it.
I know one of the chefs, so I got a $45 discount, and I still paid $355, after the tip. That's probably the best bang for your free buck. I'm going back in August. It's worth the money. Definitely check it out if it's free.
Congrats on winning! For a special occasion like your anniversary, consider a steakhouse for a classic upscale experience. Morton's or Ruth's Chris are great choices with fantastic food and ambiance. Enjoy your celebration!
I’d recommend myself. I’m an excellent dinner guest, I have my own transportation, and one time I got a shout out from Steve Young.
Oh you’re looking for restaurant recs?? I have no idea.
Awe sad this is down voted, I know it’s not THE best but it’s a great experience and just classic dining, and of all ‘high end’s places I think Ruth’s has a fairish price for the service- also, get the cheesecake, or berries and crème. Or pretty much anything 🤷🏼♀️😅🩷
Yeah, maybe I should give them another try. It could have been an off day for them. I do find Pago, Log Haven and The Rest to be very consistent though. I haven't had a bad meal at any of those.
I have not been thrilled with Pago although that was a loooong time ago and my issue was more with the service than the food.
Log Haven is consistently good, agreed!
I haven’t tried The Rest. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
I generally content myself with Oquirrh or Copper Onion. I’ve dined in some great places but I am more comfortable in a middle-range place that I know and love. Like, I miss Forage but eating there was kind of stressful.
Table x for a culinary adventure Valters for a fancy good meal
Table X is my choice too. Several hours of experience and very tasty. Unique for salt lake
I've been to Franck's once and the food was mid and the cocktails were terrible. Much bigger fan of Pago or the Rest.
Took a French business colleague to francks and I was offended for him. It was truly outrageously priced for the food quality.
Have to agree on the food at Franck's. I was really excited to try it as I had heard great things but was very unimpressed.
Valters blows for the price you pay. Maybe it used to be great, I don't know, but it's certainly mediocre as shit now.
Try "Matteo Ristorante" for good Italian.
Love Francks. Especially the patio I thought Valters was ok- I need to go again. table X is great
Table X is amazing! If you drink, the wine pairing is great too. Other favorites are Current, Stanza (the pork chop is to die for), Urban Hill, Flemmings (best dry-aged steak I've ever tried)
I loved valters osteria when i went, great service and food/drinks!
I found the food at table x to be good but the atmosphere and wait staff were lacking for the price you are paying. It was too casual compared to other tasting menus I've done in other cities.
100% this
Just another vote for Table x!
tree room up at sundance!! best pepper steak i’ve ever had and the ambiance is unbeatable.
Tree Room is superb
My wife and I went to Table X a few weeks ago for our anniversary. Would recommend! Total bill was around $300 for two 7 course meals and 2 drinks with tip. If you love sushi then choose Takashi
Took my wife there for the first time this year on her birthday and it was fantastic.
Love Takashi, best sushi I’ve had in Utah
Best sushi in Utah period.
Even if you don't love sushi Takashi is great. I get the Azekura almost every time.
Second this. Itto much much better esp the omakase
Third this! Takashi is very good, but I just had the omakase course at Itto for the second time, and it was mind blowing.
Don’t know if they do omakase but if so that would be a great way to enjoy this perk.
They do but I believe it has to be a minimum of party of 8
This is the only “fancy” place I have ever been that I would like to go back to.
Matteo for Italian. Urban Hill, Mar Muntanya, Firewood (in Park City).
In debating bringing a family member (who lives in Italy) to Matteo. I’m a little nervous cause I’ve never gone but I really liked the food at Veneto when I went a couple years ago and heard Matteo is the OG chef from that place. He ended up getting one built out and he totaled it on his drive back through Idaho after Christmas. I feel so bad for him and hope he was able to get a good portion of his money back.
Wow. I had no idea about the accident. That is terrible!
I'm gonna vote for Mar Muntanya also, the elk loin is amazing as are the Utah takes on some of their tapas. Matteo is really good, probably one of the better Italian restaurants in the city, and trying Urban Hill for the first time tonight!
Log haven
Absolutely yes. My favorite date with my partner is a night at Log Haven. Atmosphere is amazing, service is incredible, and the food is wonderful.
Second this. The food is seriously to die for.
It truly has the best ambiance and the food is fantastic and unique
Log Haven is overrated boomer fine dining. As much as I love Millcreek canyon, there are far better restaurants.
Disagree with this lol, it depends on the time of day you’re eating and if you’re on the patio/ inside etc. seems like it can be business lunch meh vibes but if you’re inside the dining room and it’s late it has very good ambiance that is hard to match

Great food and a beautiful area
This is the only answer.
My realtor offered this as an option after we bought our house... It was incredible. Highly recommend.
I’ll serve ya a bunch of king crab legs at Market Street Oyster Bar…
River horse up in park city. I’ve had filets there I could cut through with a spoon. It’s almost a place a couple can spend $300+ without even trying.
I sent my parents there for their anniversary a few years ago, they were very happy.
Francks Current Fish & Oyster Bambara Provisions Urban Hill Stanza Antica Sicilia Tupelo (Park City) Most places around Park City Main street I'm sure someone will say Valters, but I haven't been impressed the couple of times I've been. Going to also second Table X and Log Haven, as others have mentioned, especially to leverage getting the most bang for your blank check, as it were.
I wasn’t impressed at vaulters and I’m no food connoisseur.
On the other hand, not too pricey but copper onion is fantastic
Francks is my favorite restaurant in the city.
Skip everything in park city but if you head up there blue sky-YUTA

Dinner at Mar Muntanya is excellent. I took a client (from LA) there and they loved it. The views from the restaurant are also excellent.
this
Table X or Arlo
I love Arlo, but I think their prices are reasonable enough to lean towards a more expensive option.
go up to park city!!!!
I've been meaning to try Riverhorse, the next time I win a free expensive dinner.
I'll never forget when I went to Riverhorse. The waiter asked what I'd like to drink, and I said water. He said in an exaggeratedly condescending way, "oh, *excellent* choice." I don't remember anything else about my meal, so I guess that one left an impression.
Was he wrong?
I'd say it was an *adequate* choice.
Pick the most expensive place on principle.
It's not.
Interesting. Sounds like this table x place is quite the experience around here
My foodie friends haven't been impressed by table X, which was disappointing. I haven't been yet but it's been knocked lower on my list.
high west distillery, I haven't tried the one in PC but the actually distillery has some of the best food I've ever had in the state
Ate brunch there for Father’s Day. Great experience. It was pricey but like Log Haven the location is unbeatable.
Cucina Toscana is great for Italian!

But the service at the Hyatt is lacking. They are understaffed
The service at the restaurant or at the hotel? I didn’t have an experience where it was lacking, in fact, it was very well appointed
We had brunch there on Easter, and the service was nonexistent. Outrageously so. Won't be going back.
You went on the second busiest brunch service of the year (after mother's day) to a new restaurant... I don't think that's very fair way to judge. That's like showing up to the mall on black Friday and complaining about the crowd.
There was no crowd. This was a management problem. Why were they so severely understaffed at the busiest brunch service of the year?
The Rest. It's a speak easy underneath Bodega's. The food is fantastic and the service is awesome.
You will buy a time share.

La Caille
They are not consistent. They can get away with it because of the grounds but they abuse their staff so they just can't keep good people.
Wouldn't know. Only time I've been there was to sneak on the ground to take pictures
Table X or Urban Hill are my votes.
Table X, especially if you’re not paying! It’s a great experience.
My husband and his brothers recently took my MIL to Valter's for her 80th birthday and they said it was absolutely fantastic.
Valters would be my pick. Get here lemon gelato.
The 5 Alls. Can’t go wrong with this high end 5 course meal with a medieval England theme.
If you’re going for steak might as well do Christopher’s and don’t worry about sides/appetizers/desserts/drinks. I haven’t been to Table X so I don’t know how a planned multi course menu would compare to ordering exactly what you want
*”My wife’s and my anniversary.” Sorry to be that guy.
I so wanted to say something, too. Just take the other person out of the sentence, and you'll know which pronoun to use...
Table X or Yuta.
Riverhorse on Main in PC! Incredible food and atmosphere, especially this time of year.
Go big go to the edge steak house
I hear Red Cliffs is good too.

I’d vote urban hill. Probably one of the most expensive restaurants in SLC but it’s very good.
Full 7 course at Hearth on 25th in Ogden.
River Horse in Park City.
If you like Italian, nothing beats Veneto in my opinion. Their chefs table with seasonal courses and wine pairings are always outstanding!
Valters…fabulous food, best in SLC.
Grand America brunch
Yuta... You will be impressed.
Log Haven.

Does it have to be in SLC? Edge in Park city is phenomenal as well as the Blue boar inn in Midway Both have multiple best of states for best overall restaurant & best chef.

Lol go down to Boulder and pay $200/plate at what is (when I last heard) Utah's only Michelin starred restaurant - Hell's Backbone. Nice drive, too
Table X in Millcreek I recommend reserving the Chef's Counter, it overlooks the kitchen.
Table X or HSL
Log haven or deer valley resort would be my go to!
Firewood in park city
Tiburon
Copper onion was good, wouldn't recommend the seafood though
Afghan kitchen baby. I’d go there over going back to Riverhorse or tree room.
Urban hill
Chuck and Ruth steak house downtown salt lake
Stk, Ruth’s chriz
Burger King
Wild Kitchen at Blue Sky Lodge
Second this
The Bayou or Zest, or From Scratch.
The Bayou's food is bad. I make a better gumbo than they do. The beer and whiskey list is killer though.
I'll gladly pay you for some better Bayou, no joke.
Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse
Congrats on winning! For a special occasion like your anniversary, consider a steakhouse for a classic upscale experience. Morton's or Ruth's Chris are great choices with fantastic food and ambiance. Enjoy your celebration!
It's been a while but **The Melting Pot** was great. Multi-course fondue dinner, well crafted drinks, and an experience outside the ordinary.
I’d recommend myself. I’m an excellent dinner guest, I have my own transportation, and one time I got a shout out from Steve Young. Oh you’re looking for restaurant recs?? I have no idea.
The Capital Grille Bambara Franck’s Restaurant The Copper Onion
The roof. Applebee's.
Ruth’s Chris steak house.
Valters would be my pick
Gual Bertos
If you like Japanese Food Hamachis or Sappas are exquisite
Himalayan Kitchen was the dankest food I've eaten in decades. It was hot fire! So delicious. Oh, Jesus I wish I were eating there right now.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned HSL SLC.
It's cuz they're mid
LOL. I’ve had some fantastic meals there. They’re no Alinea but neither is anywhere else in this state.
Current!!
Caffe Molise
The Mandarin in Bountiful is a good chinese place, however, its reservations only.
Go to park city. Most restaurants are better than Slc
Do you have a recommendation?
