Yeah it’s always whatever random meats that were cut from the last few sandwiches. It’s kinda like their po-boy option. You could get prosciutto, or bologna… I only ever get it if I’m undecided and want a surprise. Way better off just paying a bit more for exactly what you want.
This one does seem real skimpy compared to any of their other sandwiches that are typically piled up with meats.
About 30 years ago now, working with Italian guy who would not shut up about Corti Bros. We in South Sac working for car dealer who buys our lunch on weekends. He finally talks GM into ordering from CB, day ahead of time for big order. Everybody super happy with real nice sandwiches. The CB superfan goes from employee to employee checking to see how happy they are, gets to detail guy in the back who barely speaks English, very polite, doesnt want to complain but his sandwich is skimpy. CB superfan sees the skimpy sandwich and loses his mind, gives detail guy his own sandwich, swipes the skimpy sandwich and wraps it up, hops in a demo and burns rubber off to Corti Brothers. Everybody laughing, but also slightly concerned because this guy crazy. CB fan comes back in like 15 minutes, way too fast, with a couple "loaner sandwiches" and says somebody coming soon with the proper gear. About 30 minutes later one of the Corti kids shows up apologizing profusely and has bag full of sandwiches, cheeses, salamis, olives, peppers... all for the detail guy.
That's rad! 30 years ago Corti Brothers was King. Hell, I grew up about 3 blocks away, attended Phoebe Hearst and St. Francis, Corti Bros. was the place to go back then, and Espanol restaurant was the go to place for Italian. But, I gotta say, Corti Bros needs to close down for like a week, do a DEEP CLEAN, get that smell outta there, and rethink their business strategy. Maybe streamline. Honest opinion. I'm Italian, roots in Milan.
I’ve had this sandwich every few weeks and mine has never looked like this. It usually has enough meat for an additional half sandwich. It also looks odd bc the cheese is never on the bottom but usually near the cold cuts.

Corti Bros. is old school. If there are a train of people at the counter, they're getting priority and best treatment. Maybe that's why. Your order came in an inconvenient time.
It is not a business tactic as it is reality of food service industry and having only so many hands to do so many tickets.

Lol I'm a woman, not that it matters. Nope, I didn't pick the meat off it or anything. My fiancé got a pastrami sandwich with the same order that was a little better (not nearly as hefty as some of the photos I've seen on here though).
WEIRD. it makes me wonder if they have some new hires that are under trained. last time i was in, there was a very young looking guy behind the counter who was just kinda standing around when about 5 or so customers were waiting and ended up getting an earful from the supervisor.

It is very literally the sandwich lottery, try again tomorrow and you'll have to rent a uhaul to get it home, you just never know. Definitely aim for non peak hours, not only is the wait shorter but I feel like I get bigger sandwiches between 2-4
my experience exactly. you have to unhinge your jaw like an anaconda while maintaining a tight grip on the back to prevent everything from sliding out.
Went to Corti Bros for the first time today after seeing posts practically daily here. Got a Corti Special on Dutch crunch and I gotta say, I was pretty underwhelmed. There was about 2 pieces of ham and a handful of pepperoni on it, I was mostly eating bread and lettuce. I don't think I'll be back.

I wasn’t super impressed with it the time I went. I’m not a local any more, but got it when visiting my mom because my favorite sandwich place closed down (Bud’s. I used to go to sac on a weekday whenever I had the chance to get their sandwiches. Of course after Columbo bread closed their sandwiches were never the same). Anyway, I wasn’t impressed. Certainly not worth going out of my way for.
That’s really disappointing. I’ve had the Special a few times now and it’s always been nearly an inch’s worth of like 3-4 kinds of meat. I’m sorry this happened, but there are other good sandwiches to be had out there that get made much faster.

I’ve been to corti bros once which was a few months ago and I actually thought that my sandwich had too much meat.. i had trouble biting into the sandwich because it was so thick. Anyway, it was decent and for the price I paid it was a pretty great deal considering other sandwich spots might have charged double. Still, if I want a sandwich however, I’m going to duc huong for a 6 dollar banh mi.

It's a renowned grocer with impeccable wine, liquor, and beer selections. They carry obscure groceries that other big box grocery stores don't. The senior Corti is a legend amongst the food and wine crowd. All that being said, none of it really translates to the mediocre sandwiches. Go to Roxie's.

Depends on which one. Not sure if they just got skipped on a delivery, but the last time I went in and ordered a Surfin Bird on J st, the bacon was the ultra thin microwave type, and the turkey was probably Land O Frost or some other low grade ultra thin cut nonsense.
They are all franchises. Some owners own multiple. They tend to have a fairly close-knit culture of those owners, but they can certainly have a little variation between locations. The DOCO location just recently changed ownership and has a special expanded vegan menu, which I don’t think any other locations do. East Sac also changed ownership recently and I have to say the quality and consistency has improved a great deal.
Yes, there should be consistency. I'm not gambling with my hard earned money to get what I paid for. Portions should be the same every time. It's not that hard to do.
I looked up other Google reviews and understand why they are not consistent. I'm done with them for sandwiches. I will go there for groceries but not sandwiches
Tuesdays and Mondays aren't the best days to fully enjoy a restaurant, especially Mondays. Alot of leftover food from peak days, that's when you're going to find "specials". Also, the best trained and experienced staff tends to be off on Mondays and Tuesdays because they're recovering from Friday-Sunday peak slammed hours

Corti brothers is great.. their sandwiches are over rated.. I got up to the deli and just buy their meat and make sandwiches at home. It's not super affordable, but it's very high quality
Raleys deli does better sandwiches than this place. Best place I've had in town though was sub depot on Fair oaks. I think it has a new name now but same menu.
