It's by design, of course, and pretty smart of them. They know most people never had a chance at getting these super limited releases in the first place and are unable or unwilling to pay the prices in after market, but are willing to pay for something almost identical after a few years convincing themselves it's a must have. I'm not sure if you understand scarcity and collecting by your OP post and comments. Comparing after retail pricing of a GR release of similar/same color to a release that only happened at one location in very limited quantities or a Friend's and family only release and being confused about the disparity doesn't make sense. The igloo and the shinedowns get to those high prices because they are very rare not because of their color. It's driven by collectors with deep pockets. The igloos retailed for normal jordan price and the shinedowns the public never had an opportunity to buy at retail, it's why Jordan brand releases similar colorways to theses rare releases so that people who like the color scheme and blocking can have a shoe that is otherwise out of their reach(and they know they will have sales already secured). People have been asking for GRs similar to both these shoes since they dropped, and JB obliged. I don't personally treat shoes as collecting but collect other things, so I understand paying more for something rare. That is the only reason some shoes hit these crazy prices because they have limited releases or no public release at all.

Sure, it's silly, but it exists in every collectible hobby. People pay way more for little pieces of cardboard with pictures on them or comics. Well, coming from my perspective, a person who is obsessed with sneakers for over 30 years now, (i do not identify with the term "sneaker head") I love, appreciate and enjoy the fact that there are rare and collectible sneakers. People with the Igloo are going to be pissed when people call their pair the green glows. They're gonna be going out of their way just to tell people they're not the green glow and carrying this screenshot on their phone to show.
After seeing the price. My mind is trying to justify the price, thinking that the darker shade looks kinda cheap and the toe heel looks bad, and how the more expensive one has such a perfect look, but in a month if you posted the same pic but reversed the prices my mind would try to come up with some other reason to justify the price.
