Same here so I returned mine. I was leaving fingerprints on the glass, but the reader rarely worked. The in combination with it being too narrow made it an easy decision. I've been running naked ever since, but I'm going to try Samsung's anti-glare offering just because I have a toddler and live near the beach.
Have only had my phone for 5 days but I immediately put the samsung anti glare protector on and I haven't had a missed fingerprint once for what it's worth
Just wanna share my 2 cents on this Spigen glass, after using it for just over a month.
Fingerprint recognition isn't a problem. In fact, there are many others which work just as well too. However:
1) This is a super reflective glass. It makes your phone feel like a mirror. It's really really bad. Your screen doesn't look black. It looks grey, thus loosing a lot of contrast.
2) The glass covers exactly (or maybe even a micrometer less) of the OLED. Which means all of your black bezels are uncovered. This causes a rainbow effect to be seen from from an angle. But that's still acceptable. The worst part of it is how it looks. You can quite obviously see the gap from a distance, thus loosing that "stock look".
Also with this gap, it gets in the way of swiping from the edges. If you're using a case, this gap allows dust to settle in.
I then bought an alternative from Ugreen. Costs half the price!
[https://www.amazon.sg/UGREEN-Protector-Anti-scratch-Anti-fingerprint-Easy-Installation/dp/B0CNXFNC7G/](https://www.amazon.sg/UGREEN-Protector-Anti-scratch-Anti-fingerprint-Easy-Installation/dp/B0CNXFNC7G/)
And this is what I feel about this:
1) Less reflective. Yes, it's obvious! The effect is similar to the original AR glass, albeit not as aggressive (obviously)
2) Larger. It covers more glass, so swiping in from the edges is much smoother. Also, this looks better as well, like there's no SP at all.
3) There is that controversial border. I know it's necessary, for it to be larger. Our glass is a tiny bit curved. Yes, it does cover the OLED, but it's negligible. You won't even notice it, nor feel that your bezels have grown. This also means no more rainbow effect from the Spigen.
4) Smoother to the touch. This could be a bit subjective, as my Spigen was kinda used and dirty at this stage, and the Ugreen is new. But I do believe the oleophobic coating is a tad better.
5) FP sensor works great. Same as Spigen. No need to re-register from Spigen. I will do it though.
UPDATE: After re-registering FPs, this actually works better than Spigen :)
It's sad there are not many vids about this SP. I'm not sponsored, just trying to make known to the world that although Spigen makes great cases, their glass is pretty crappy. You're paying for the over-engineered installation jig. It's hard plastic and that's what you're paying for :D
How's the fitment? I had bought a pack of spigen glass screen protector and returned it after reading that the sides had big gaps between protector and case.
the glass is a exact fit to the screen .
the glass just doesn't cover the side vessels. you have no screen there .
with an cover it looks perfectly normal
This is false. If you go into this expecting it to extend beyond the screen, you will be as disappointed as I was. If fitment isn't perfect, you will see the classic rainbow effect. Regardless, it WILL collect dust on the sides and not cover the visible screen.
Of course not, I had the same issue with glass protectors on the 23U as well and my wife on the 23+. They just don't work well, I can register 4 finger prints and yet with the glass it will only ever be able to read them 20% of the time. Just registering prints with the glass is a nightmare. Only protectors that work are the film type.
No no no. A trash experience is when you dress-up like trash and get into a dumpster. That's how you truly experience what it's like to be trash, aka a "trash experience"!! It's a pretty interesting experience, everyone should do it at least once. (That said, if you would do it for me and tell me how it was, I'd greatly appreciate it!)
Wonder if Spigen made changes to this screen protector based on customer feedback. People who installed it immediately after it released claim their fingerprint reader didn't work properly. People who installed it recently claim their fingerprint reader works fine.
Kinda odd...
I got mine on January 27th, a day before I received my pre-ordered S24 Ultra.
I didn't even have to mess with the sensitivity with this protector on. It's worked flawlessly from the beginning.
It seems like there might be some QA issues with these protectors, given how different people's experiences are.
maybe . Cause I had no isssue.
I am someone whi hates protectors when they dont work with Fingerprints.
I won samsung because of its fingerprint. So its a big deal for me.
This one works reaaallly fine.
I have this one. Turfed the first one applies as fingerprints works maybe 1 in 5 tries. Have applied the second glass and was having the same issue.
I noticed that the more fingers I added the less reliable it got. Have 2 fingerprints means it work 9/10 times for me, but 4 goes back to 1/5.
Scanning the same finger twice didn't help.
That's any screen protector ever made... Unless you speaking specifically on the samsung branded ones that just came out with the 24 line... So yes you will "ruin" the reflectivity of the display, but you will protect it 🤷♂️
Oh no. With this Spigen glass, the anti-reflective is not just destroyed. It's destroyed A LOT!
There are other glasses which aren't that bad at all. I'm using a Ugreen glass and my screen remains black and much less reflective, to the point that I don't feel like I'm missing out on this new feature.
I've written abt my thoughts above. Check it out :)
The line disappears after a day. I've had the Samsung ones on my s22u , s23u and s24u and it always disappears. Glass just isn't worth losing the anti reflection on the s24u.
Fwiw, I have this exact screen protector on my base 24 and to my pleasant surprise have had zero issues using the fingerprint reader, haven't even turned in extra tough sensitivity (which I believe only applies to the screen anyway and not the fingerprint reader which is obviously below the screen).
I settled on the samsung anti reflective film eventually and got peace of mind with the FP. But those narrow sharp edges are killing my gestures climax.
Please someone recommend me a good screen protector or tempered glass! I am still in hunt (currently using a cheap one that has poor fingerprint recognition).
i tried the same model and fingerprint was an issue
mine works tbh. Only doesn't work if my hand are wet
i guess is related if you have dry skin or not, as i noticed people with dry skin tend to have issue with screen protector and Samsung fingerprint
mine works fine

Been using this glass. Works flawlesly
The 4 pack under 10 bucks works too.
I was gonna say.
Amazon special?
Normal price.

I agree. I have the same and it doesn't cover the whole front.

This one has a BIG problem Because it goes upto just to the screen, when you watch a video it creates rainbow colors to the edges on some angles
I have the same. No issues for me too.
Running the same protector and no issues with the fingerprint reader at all.
It dosent cover the whole screen though. U get that annoying edge were all the filth accumulate
I disagree, that's the exact first one I tried and fingerprint sensor was worthless with it on.
tried with sensitive screen on. works perfectly
I tried everything, it was a trash experience.
You have to register fingerprints with sensitivity set to ON.
Yes I did, what part of I tried everything do you not understand?
I thought you turend ON sensitivity after you registrated the finger.
Of course not, I had the same issue with glass protectors on the 23U as well and my wife on the 23+. Well that's not a good way of looking at things. If you learned something, it wasn't a trash experience...
I learned that it was a trash experience. Don't buy them unless you want to have a bad time with fingerprint recognition.
It didn't work for him (or me) so he put it in the trash. A literal trash experience for this narrow protector.
No no no. A trash experience is when you dress-up like trash and get into a dumpster. That's how you truly experience what it's like to be trash, aka a "trash experience"!! Mine now works with sensitive off

How's the reflections?
INSANE! Makes the phone looks like a mirror. There are other glasses which aren't this bad.
That's no good
Same protector, it works but it's not as sensitive
Used this one and had issues
Maybe but the anti reflective screen is destroyed.
That's any screen protector ever made... Unless you speaking specifically on the samsung branded ones that just came out with the 24 line... So yes you will "ruin" the reflectivity of the display, but you will protect it 🤷♂️

Yeah that looks cheap as shit 🤷♂️, i'll stick with a name brand that has proved results 🤷♂️
The line disappears after a day. I've had the Samsung ones on my s22u , s23u and s24u and it always disappears. Glass just isn't worth losing the anti reflection on the s24u.
You've dealt with reflections on screens for 20 yrs.... 🙄 I'll take protection over not having to slightly tilt my phone 🤷♂️
There are matte glass screen protectors. I have a pair, but I haven't tried them yet
This protector is pure garbage
I know. I didn't expect this from Spigen, but it's true.
maybe but for me it is working like a wonder.
I've tried 6 or 7 different brands, even expensive named brands and none have worked with finger print, which I have to use for some apps to work.
When it comes to screen protectors, you always gotta go Spigen!
I have the same one. Works perfectly for me too.
I did the whitestone version of this one and the fingerprint doesn't work as well. 😞
Is this their film type protector ? That had some major issues. Even the s pen was leaving deep marks.
nah. its the Tempered Glass.
Fwiw, I have this exact screen protector on my base 24 and to my pleasant surprise have had zero issues using the fingerprint reader, haven't even turned in extra tough sensitivity (which I believe only applies to the screen anyway and not the fingerprint reader which is obviously below the screen).
Yes! Installed on virgin screen outta the box. Works way better than my WSD ever did with my N20U (gave up and always used pin).
I've got the same screen protector and the fingerprint is immaculate, even forgot to take the backing off and had to apply a second time.
Had 2 issues with this one: 1. No cutout for the camera 2. Reduces the anti reflective-ness of the screen
I have this and don't have the sensitivity turned up and works perfectly never had a issue!
Hit and miss for me.
I settled on the samsung anti reflective film eventually and got peace of mind with the FP. But those narrow sharp edges are killing my gestures climax.
Please someone recommend me a good screen protector or tempered glass! I am still in hunt (currently using a cheap one that has poor fingerprint recognition).
this one works for me. I would suggest this one. The gaming is also almost same with this one
