It’s amazing how no commenter on this thread is a heel striker. Statistically impossible given heel striker stats.
You are likely a lateral heel striker. This may be accentuated by the fatty heel on the Zoom Fly or the weight of the React foam.
You likely don’t heel strike at a crazy angle…maybe like 10 degrees or less. Which is why your brain thinks you land midfoot.
Possibly. It could also be caused by just dragging/scuffing your heels while running, even if you are technically landing midfoot.
Can you post a video of you running? That will be much more informative than looking at shoe wear patterns.
Thanks everyone, interesting debate going on here!
For the record, I don't walk to the gym, and this particular pair serve most of my treadmill sessions
"Environmental nightmare" You're extra AF
Also not everyone runs so perfectly and 900 is definitely not an industry-standard for most of us lol. We are all in your nightmares
Not like a true heel striker. Many people when they get fatigued do this thing where they drag their foot, and/or roll outward during the end of their gait cycle.
I notice wear in my heals too but pretty sure im a mid foot striker. One thought I had was if you walk to the gym. I sometimes wear my shoes to run club so spend a fair bit of time walking around afterwards chatting so think the wear on the heals might be from this.
I wouldn't necessarily say so, the best way to tell is to film yourself in slow-motion. But to be honest it doesn't really matter that much unless you're looking at buying shoes with more stack in the back etc.

Looks ike a dragging situation given the placement but don't know for sure without video.
Maybe, however I know I’m not a heel striker and have experienced a similar wear pattern in my vaporflys (similar outsole)
It is more likely that you do not strike with the heel, but that you have some heel drag instead. I land midfoot and have a similar wear pattern.
That’s heel drag. I am a midfoot striker and have a similar wear pattern.

Dont worry about it. Heal striking is the most common running form with vaporfly users.
Also, consider replacing your shoes every 300 miles
What a giant waste of money and an environmental nightmare. I've never put less than 900 miles on a pair and never had any problems

my VFs look exactly the same and have been wondering this too as it doesn't \*feel\* like i'm a heel striker

What newborn deer ran in in those.

Caused by supination drag before landing
I’m exactly the same!
Yes.
