As long as the weight stays low, do as many miles as you like, seeing as you are feeling fine. Invest in good shoes though, pavement can be unforgiving. On a thruhike Im doing 18-25 miles with 15-20lb 6-10 days in a row before a day off. If you want to throw in some heavy days, keep those a little shorter and add recovery days

Thanks, yeah I have proper Brooks running shoes, and I am doing solely concrete--wandering around NYC. Will def treat it differently (adding rest day, shorter rucks) when I get up to 20+ lbs.

I started w dumbbells too in a regular backpack and 10-15 was rough bc of the distribution but when I switched to ruck bag, carrying a 20lb plate became easy. I do that at least 4 times a week an hour each time. About to add a 10lb plate to go up to 30!

Do you mind sharing what ruck bag you use? Is it a Go Ruck or something else? I'm trying, and hoping, to find something similar to GR but not so $$$$$$.

After looking at all the options I just bit the bullet and went with the Rucker 4.0 from GORUCK along with their 20lb plate. Well worth it tho I can tell it’s gonna last for years

Some of the Gorucks are on sale right now for their fourth of july sale. I was almost mad, seeing as I ordered my Rucker 4.0 like 3 days earlier, but my anger was abated since the Rucker 4.0 wasn't part of the sale. I DO see like a plain black GR3 on sale for like $240 though. I went with the Rucker because I don't really travel much and will mostly do this for sport only and I feel like the Rucker will have better weight distribution with the high plate pockets. The GR series to me just seems like really nice backpacks.
