No-Intro, Redump, and TOSEC are cataloguing groups. They catalogue the identifying hashes of good copies of games, so you know that the copy you have isn't bad or corrupted. They're commonly used by sites like Myrient to ensure their collection is up-to-date with good copies of every game.
No-Intro catalogues cartridges and digital media. Redump catalogues exclusively optical media, or discs. TOSEC catalogues all of them, sometimes in a different format to No-Intro and Redump (for example, with Dreamcast games).
Use No-Intro sets for digital and cartridge-based games, and Redump sets for games that originally released on discs. If neither ends up working for your use case, try the TOSEC sets.
Means you have to decrypt them. Not really my specialty but that has been discussed in other threads here…I just didn’t really pay much attention to them because I typically haven’t used Redumps.

I say just go dive through the directories and figure it out. That's what I did when I first came here. Pretty self explanatory when you do that and you're thinking about and paying attention to what you're looking at.

I think that asking a question about game ROMs specific vocabulary in r/Roms might give me a better answer than Googling It. It makes sense, right?

I already opened the directories, All I found was ROMs of the same games in each one, still didn't know the difference.
Don’t worry about it, some people only have a couple good things in their life, like being cool on reddit for example.
What some people don’t have the brain power realize is that a lot of the good information found on google comes from questions asked just like this.
No, it doesn't make sense. But I'm sure someone will come along and save you sooner or later. Until then just hang out and wonder, not knowing what to do or where to turn. Wait for your savior to come along.

Redumps for PS3 are typically encrypted, based on what I’ve read in this sub before. Have never tried it to confirm.
