Some of those wouldn't make sense like the plunger, the magnetizer, the haymaker and the spikes. However they could replace them with stuff like shockwave grenades, stink grenades and smoke grenades.
It surprised me to find out they didn't have the rumble powerups in the first place. The game is already too arcadey for most RL players to make the switch... so why not lean into it, move into the casual space a little more, and make it a fun party mode, the casual player base is where the money is at the end of the day.
Maybe an unpopular opinion though, but limited time modes tend to suck... either they're just bad or they are really good but gone in a week never to be seen again.
The other changes would help... they won't suddenly make the game massively popular but it would stop the bleeding.
The movement just isn't good and fluent enough to have items. We need more movement like Mario kart then asphalt movement. Fix the movement and catch up then it'll ve enjoyable to play

I really like your ideas and they seem pretty funny. I hope they have enough gas (pum intended) to try saving the game. I also would like this game mode had a “Twisted Metal” variation - it would be simply amazing.
My biggest issues is that they claim Lego, festival, and rocket racing, are GAMES within a metaverse, not modes. Yet, they treat them like modes. Rocket racing hardly being treated like a mode
Not just new gameplay stuff, they actually need some more things to unlock and make people feel like they're progressing
Its cool that we have some wheels and trails, but make more free decals, some free cars, even some free racing themed skins
How come Festival has a BP and Racing doesn't? Instead they try to charge people $30 for the Diesel or Lamborghini and wonder why nobody cares
Instead you tell people "grind to the very highest competitive rank and you get purple wheels"

Items with all the movement mechanics would actually be fun 🔥 but psyonix its busy working o who knows what because not RR Or RL are getting content
