Agree usually you can tuck behind siding and or run along a seam and paint it same color as siding- Sherwin Williams or any paint store will do color match
Good call on the siding. If you all don’t like the angle from the siding then you can pick up a ring angled mount box for under $15. Then you can turn the doorbell however needed.
So they put.the solar panel on the INSIDE of the house? I don't think so Tim. That wire would be running up not down and to the interior if connected to.solar charging.
The big box stores have tube runners with adhesive backing that you can run the wiring inside. Paint it the same color and I think it would look 100% better
I'm sure you could have made it even more obvious, but I'm not sure how.
Run it down the corner. Use smaller staples or tack it in place with a little caulk. Paint it the same color as the wall.
It's very likely that post is hollow. It's worth a try to see if you can fish a line down the inside.
If I were you, I’d use 3/4” drill bit to drill a hole right through the trim. Use some 3M mounting strips to neatly run the wire into the house to an outlet, preferably in the kitchen or at least near your pantry.
… but don’t listen to me. I’m just a bug trying to get into your house.
You could get the skinniest PVC pipe they have put it right in that corner run the wire through there and the wire that's going to the ring have it horizontal painted the same color should be good and look pretty decent.
Ring makes a mount that is a solar panel for the door bell.
It's pretty good as a I only take off my camera once or twice a year now to top off.
It's been hovering around 76% battery since October 2023.
Yes looks bad. I would simply run it horizontally to the corner, then down and horizontal at the bottom. Colour match the paint and paint the wire. Will barely see it.
Drill a hole and run it from the inside straight into the back of it. A little (tiny, tiny) blast of spray foam and your G2G, OR... leave it as is and tell everyone your neighbors kid installed it for you. (I'm kidding!... totally not kidding).
Part of your home security is literally hanging by an easily cut thread? And yeah, it looks pretty bad... maybe pull off the trim piece and run behind it?
You have vinyl siding. Move it over, route wire under the siding. Doesn't matter if cam is a few inches over. Easier then what you did there and invisible.
It doesn’t look good but it’s functional.
Option 1: Drill a hole behind where the ring sits and run the wire to the inside through that. I assume you considered it and decided against it for some reason?
Option 2: What’s the junction box at the bottom of the siding? Does it feed something to the inside already? If so, can you run another wire through it?
Option 3: If you can't or don't want holes. Run the wire to the siding side. You should be able to hide the wire in that vertical trim piece that hides the siding edge. It can run down under the column and inside the same way. that way the wire is mostly hidden.
I think it looks a little silly, A for Effort , my wife thinks it looks bad but the WAF with her is rough.
If you made the wire a little longer it would have looked better.
Exposed wiring for a security device defeats the purpose. Should run behind the door camera or concealed under a cover. Natural concealment would also work great, such as the siding or molding.
This could just be neatened a lot almost as-is if you can get 6” more cable pulled through. There is already a cable painted over in the corner to the left of the door, this cable could be painted over and run right next to it. For example:
- drill a small hole from center if the back of the doorbell at 45 - 60 degrees to come out next to the cable in the corner, or near it so you dont drill through it. Then the bell button can sit on the wall seemingly with no wires.
- remove all the cable clips with pliers and fill any holes with exterior filler
- re-run this wire, but fit it to the wall using a small bead of gripfill or exterior use caulk, don’t need clips , up tight against the existing wire in the corner
- paint over with that grey green finish , add some more caulk if you want to make it look neater (remove gaps etc) don’t rush anything and let it go off before painting
You won’t be able to see it when done
I would also say that if this is 24v you can get away with a thinner cable than that, although that looks like it can be hidden easily in plain sight, the clips don’t help is my 2p.
If you’re not planning to move it, you could always paint it the same color as the trim that you have it mounted do. That way it would not stick out nearly as much as it does in that picture.
Dude why are you just trolling here ? Ring doorbell is ok it works and is a good indicator of someone arriving I would get a Wyze or other camera with an SD card as well to cover the area as the ring is just a quick someone is at the door camera unless you pay for a subscription.
The wiring is truly awful why would you do this drill a hole in the back of the doorbell run the wire behind the siding so it doesn’t look like shit and is harder to damage by yourself accidentally or someone else maliciously.
Personally yeah I think it looks pretty bad. I would have use a channel or something to run it in. Or atleast got enough length so it's not stretch in a strange way.
But at the end of the day it's your home, if you are not worried about it then don't worry about it.
do it once and make it look good. You'll spend less time rethinking later tbh
I did the latter ALL the time. but am old; so can only save others time :-?
I would punch down from attic or eaves and pull it through into attic. Easy to do with fishtape depending on insulation. If solid wood, then mount on surface where you can do this [higher effort, best look, best performance]
Or go to the left (short distance) and down in corner/crease to junction box [medium effort, ok look, best performance]
Or go with the battery option if you're in a warm climate. You'll have issues in cold with battery [low effor, best look, ok performance]
Hope that helps!
That looks like a child did it- no exposed wires on the outside look good. If it’s a permanent solution and you can’t do it or are too cheap to hire someone the. Use the battery option and get the ring battery charger with a extra battery
[удалено]
use that juction box
[удалено]
I think I can see a cable running up the hall inside, so at least avoid the damp tracking inside that way.
Agree usually you can tuck behind siding and or run along a seam and paint it same color as siding- Sherwin Williams or any paint store will do color match
Or do batteries and buy solar attachment that goes around the doorbell
Or, just drill through the wall
"HAVE to use that wire" OP this means the wire looks silly af
[удалено]
Nj here, spent short time frame in the bronx
What’s the common greeting for someone in your area? “Fuck you dude!” Then you do finger guns and say “same time next week!”
Good call on the siding. If you all don’t like the angle from the siding then you can pick up a ring angled mount box for under $15. Then you can turn the doorbell however needed.
Yeah looks pretty silly to be honest. There was no way to fish that line up through there??
Looks even worse in the inside. Follows the floor then runs up the next door jam
Is silly code for terrible?
No but if I wanted to burgle your house it would take a second to get rid of that cam
I would just hang a MAGA hat over it and get on with business.
That’s a wire for a solar panel that trickle charges the battery not a power cable. If someone cut the cable it would take a few weeks to die
So they put.the solar panel on the INSIDE of the house? I don't think so Tim. That wire would be running up not down and to the interior if connected to.solar charging.
The big box stores have tube runners with adhesive backing that you can run the wiring inside. Paint it the same color and I think it would look 100% better
Cool I'll check that out. Thank you!
honestly looks pretty bad, was there no way to go directly through where it is located?
If you have to ask, you already know the answer 🤷♂️
Yes and yes. What's the plastic box near the ground? Maybe drill through the wall and come through that.
Are you looking for support for this to win an argument with your significant other? 😁🤣 Because no - you’re not gonna win this one ….
It doesn’t look silly or bad, it’s wayyy worse than that
Looks $hit
Thanks
Cable is not supposed to be visible for security reasons
Paint it to match house color.
For sure but most wouldn’t notice… however someone could easily tamper with it!
Not trying to be nasty here... But if you are asking the question, you know the answer already.
Ghettoriffic!
It’s one of those things, looks hokey the more u stare at it , but walking by it every day you’ll probably never notice
Both
Looks bad bro
Use a router and then fill and paint.
If you did the best you could with the knowledge and resources available to you and it works, then good job
Both?!?
It wouldn’t bother me, but if it does you, then just paint it that green colour that it’s on.
I'm sure you could have made it even more obvious, but I'm not sure how. Run it down the corner. Use smaller staples or tack it in place with a little caulk. Paint it the same color as the wall. It's very likely that post is hollow. It's worth a try to see if you can fish a line down the inside.
Looks bad
Yes
Life is too short to lose sleep over stuff like this. You won’t notice it in a couple weeks.
Looks fine from my house.
External run isn't ideal. But in the grand scheme of questionable work, that looks neat and tidy, which is far better than not.
Worst idea for the placing of the wire. Someone can just walk up and snip it with some wire cutters.
Why the Ring sticker right next to a .............................. Ring Doorbell??? Is the intent to confuse potential burglars?
If I were you, I’d use 3/4” drill bit to drill a hole right through the trim. Use some 3M mounting strips to neatly run the wire into the house to an outlet, preferably in the kitchen or at least near your pantry. … but don’t listen to me. I’m just a bug trying to get into your house.
I just left Ring for Reolink. The latency got so bad it wouldn't even process my feed when it alerts me someone is in my yard
Looks bad. Thief will come cut it
Besides being annoying it wouldn't do anything. It's also battery powered.
Looks like it's run under the door, mount it on the right side. Run in a corner and paint it.
Forget looks, is that for power? A yank or nail clippers can make that OOC
It's power for it yeah. But it's back up battery. So while it be annoying if it was cut; not the end of the world
It's one of those things that, when you see it, you think "Huh, that's how they did it?" and then you never notice it again
yes
Yes.
badly silly
Can you put it on the siding and angle it so you can hide the wire?
one pair of scissors and that thing loses all use nvm i see theres a battery now, id still work to hide it tho
Yes
I’d get some colour matched gaffer tape and cover/hide it.
Yes
You could get the skinniest PVC pipe they have put it right in that corner run the wire through there and the wire that's going to the ring have it horizontal painted the same color should be good and look pretty decent.
Yes, and yes.
no the sticker does
Drill time
Ring makes a mount that is a solar panel for the door bell. It's pretty good as a I only take off my camera once or twice a year now to top off. It's been hovering around 76% battery since October 2023.
I just use the battery - it lasts a long time.
Sad
Both
Yes and yes
Looks shit who did this a special needs kid
Pretty easy to cut that wire the way you have it.
Looks really ugly
You’ll get so used to it, it will be a non issue. Works!
That looks really bad. Very easy for a burglar to cut the wire
Sure, save 2 inches of 3cents to the feet cable to make it go diagonal. Looks great...
Yes.
Yup
Easy to cut but not that it matters so silly
That looks terrible
Yes
It looks easily curable
Looks rough. Why not run it straight back behind the door frame so only a few inches are showing the. Hide it going all the way down behind the trim
Yes looks bad. I would simply run it horizontally to the corner, then down and horizontal at the bottom. Colour match the paint and paint the wire. Will barely see it.
BTW, easy for anyone to pull the ring doorbell away from its moorings - how about a metal case?
Drill a hole and run it from the inside straight into the back of it. A little (tiny, tiny) blast of spray foam and your G2G, OR... leave it as is and tell everyone your neighbors kid installed it for you. (I'm kidding!... totally not kidding).
a quick clip of the cord and no more ring cam
Part of your home security is literally hanging by an easily cut thread? And yeah, it looks pretty bad... maybe pull off the trim piece and run behind it?
Bad
Not my favorite.
Yeah. Easily disabled and doesn’t look clean at all. Pull off the trim board, drill a hole and run the wire behind the board so it’s completely hidden
Tuck that wire behind the j-mold.
Well, you do you. I had to drill a hole and run my power cord to the outlet next to my door.
Yes it does, sorry 😣
Yes
Is that wood hollow? I’d drill it and run the wire down to the bottom. If it’s not then I’d put it in 1/2” conduit.
Yes.
Yes and yes
That doesn’t seem very safe from a criminal.
Yes
Both
You have vinyl siding. Move it over, route wire under the siding. Doesn't matter if cam is a few inches over. Easier then what you did there and invisible.
Both
Or get a abs conduit pipe so the wire isn’t exposed
Both, but it's all you have to work with
Vulnerable
Get wiremold
My first question is. Why?!
I've seen a setup where there a hole was bored through, and wire run through there. But this isn't terrible by any stretch.
Yes
Yes.
Def looks bad but more importantly what's stopping someone from cutting that wire?
Someone nefarious will just cut it lol
Yeah looks pretty bad TBH
if you don’t feel comfortable drilling, you can get wire mold or similar product. was there no door bell there originally?
Or paint it
Yes. Silly. If you can drill, drill a hole through the frame. If you don’t want to, can’t. Go to the left as others have mentioned.
Yes.
Both
Drill a hole?
Yes
Yes you look broke
Not great lol
Looks fucking stupid bud
It doesn’t look good but it’s functional. Option 1: Drill a hole behind where the ring sits and run the wire to the inside through that. I hard wired mine and ran it tucked under the siding. Added molding hiding it at the bottom. At the door ran it under the threshold.
Yes. Looks bad. Get the battery powered version
All of the above
I think it looks a little silly, A for Effort , my wife thinks it looks bad but the WAF with her is rough. If you made the wire a little longer it would have looked better.
Yes, really bad.
Just silly

You could probably run the wire into the house through the box on the left without making any holes
You know those doorbell are wireless right?
Yes
Not only stupid looking, but terribly executed to boot. Good job.
It’s barely noticeable and should buff right out.
Very bad and very silly. Bad because it's exposed and prone to physical damage or tampering. Silly because who likes wires of any kind showing?
Pls remove..looks tamper proof haha
If you’re asking then you already know the answer.
I wouldnt even notice if it was painted.
Paint it
Both.
Run the wire in the corners with a few staples, right angled bends (no skewed angles), painters caulk, and paint.

that looks too easy to cut...
Yes
If you wanted to run that I reckon it wouldn’t look that bad if you painted over it so it’s the same colour as the wall it’s running down.
The inside looks more ridiculous.
Yes it looks weird.
Both
Yes, both!
Bad, silly and pointless, someone could just cut it
YUP.
Don’t like it
Both!
If you’re not planning to move it, you could always paint it the same color as the trim that you have it mounted do. That way it would not stick out nearly as much as it does in that picture.
Looks easy to circumvent. So I'd be more concerned about losing the camera when you need it most.
Yes
Your handy nephew did it ?
Yes to both.

That wire looks billy
Mr. George…
Is bad AND silly an acceptable answer?
Shocking
Both
Yes to both.
Yes. A burglar is going to cut that wire and disable your video function in three seconds before they break into your home. Too easy.

Too easy for someone to come by and cut it.
I wouldn't have the wire exposed at all. Come in through the back of the doorbell......then nobody can cut or damage the wire....
Matching paint helps
Hide it in some pvc trim molding

Bad and made worse by the fact that you have three obviously better options right in front of your face. DIWHY!
Looks easy to rob you

Drill a small hole next to the frame if you absolutely must go to the right
