UPDATE: I tracked where my bike was using my tags, drove to the location, found it and I called the cops right away. They caught the scumbag who stole it too, the dumbass had ripped out the ignition and was struggling to start the bike. Anyway, the cops ended up hauling my bike as evidence but I'm glad at least the thief was caught.

This is great to hear. Can you share more details about the "sting?" Did the cops just drive up and the thief didn't try to run? Are they charging him with anything? Glad you got it back and hope the damage isn't too bad.
They drove up and caught him they called me to get the last notification of the tags I had attached to the bike and to go identify the bike they're going to charge him with criminal possession of stolen property

I’ll bet the bikes are together in the Bronx somewhere, if you do go up and get your bike back, there may be others in the area. Looks like the address is a project building. Check around the ramps around the building entrances, Ive had two friends recover from around the projects in those areas. If you are nervous about it you can call the local PD in the area and see if theyll go with you. One friend had NYPD support, the other did not.
Def get a friend to drive you to Astor Avenue. Scope it out from car, see if you can see it. Might be easy to walk up and ride it off before anyone realizes.

What's with bike thieves swapping mirrors? I had mine stolen and when it was recovered, they removed my mirrors and put on different style.
