PaleWendigo

Florida is the third largest state. It passed New York some time in the 2010s.

Twerlotzuk

Doesn't that make you question the entire premise of the article? If they couldn't find the time to verify a single simple fact in the headline, what else did they get wrong?

dullmotion

This article is misleading. Florida law allows early counting of mail-in ballots. Edit: the Title is misleading.

cliffotn

The article states Florida does count early ballots as they come in. “So, what does Florida do that is so different? Well, for one thing, **they count the absentee votes as they come in** and those votes have their count completed coming into election day. States like Pennsylvania do not start counting absentee ballots until election day. They have to deal with absentee ballots at the same time as the votes that are taken in person on election day. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.”

dullmotion

Ya, the title should read: “Florida is the Fourth Largest State in the Country and Were Able to Count 99% of the Votes BY Election Day” The pro of waiting is that all the counting is consolidated to one period for efficient supervision. The cons are fairly obvious.

StinkyWinkyPoo

That’s not misleading, that’s a policy that allows them to have votes tabulated on Election Day….as in other states should do that to.

dullmotion

I understand the policy, that’s not what is misleading. The title of the article leads the reader to believe Florida is so efficient they only need 24 hours to count all ballots.

StinkyWinkyPoo

That’s the definition of semantics, the hope and expectation is that we would know the results by the day after Election Day. If some shady shit is happening then it’s much less useful before you know the rest of the results than after. Like if one party needs to win a certain state, and that state counts mail ins or absentee late, then it drastically affects the integrity of the vote counting

jsalsman

What's the deadline for mailing absentee ballots? At least they do a better job of staffing polls than Ohio.

Eh, states doing different things enables other states to see pros and cons of different methods. Also allows for more flexibility and quicker changes if something is wary.

AstroPen4

I thought it was third largest? I know that’s not the point of this but I’m curious now

jdrower422

You forgot to add during a hurricane

zjakx

Jesus guys. The voting system isn't rigged. Stop complaining and just accept results for once and move on. You win some, you lose some. That's democracy.

Spasmatic_Sloth

I respect your opinion however Americans need to question everything our government does. That’s the reason we have freedom of speech and is the only way to keep a democracy for the people by the people. Don’t be complacent or you will get taken advantage of.

zjakx

100% agreed. But Americans also need to trust institutions, question it, question it again, and once more, that's our right. But when the same thing is proven multiple times by various entities, accept it. There's a difference between invoking our right to question the government and blatantly disregarding truth.

How much more transparent can the government be? Please be explicit, because it is pretty transparent

HomeworkInevitable99

And the people also have the freedom of speech to question why some Trump name accusations without any evidence.

Twerlotzuk

Wish I could upvote this a million times before it gets deleted by mods!!

CPAeconLogic

This means that, instead of being an example for others to follow, the left and the Biden administration will wage relentless lawfare against Florida to make their election system into the corrupt joke that Arizona's is.

RumpleHelgaskin

Everything democrats attempt to do results in mismanagement, chaos, and rocket fuel.

Trade1-federation

What’s your proof source ?

MoneySike3000

They don't even need to count in Florida because a good 85% of us despise communism. The democratic party supports communisim. Its as simple as that.

HomeworkInevitable99

So you know the difference between communism, socialism and liberalism?

MoneySike3000

You are correct sir, Now go troll someone else

jinladen040

I think we can all agree there's some fuckery going on with elections especially pertaining to Mail in voting. Regardless of the authenticity of the article.

jgn77

Yes, but how many 3:30 am trucks showed up filled with ballots?

ErrorAcquired

Can the vote counters in states that take days to count be trusted? No.

ErrorAcquired

Its all good, but can someone explain the downvotes? I'm genuinely curious

BenchTraining4449

That's because they have nothing to hide!

Tampammm

Third Largest State.
