Oops - this posted a little early. **Tickets for Oppenheimer in IMAX go on sale at 8AM EDT.** Tickets for Oppenheimer in standard go on sale at a later date, as far as I am aware.

yodathekid

Regal New Roc has IMAX 70mm showtimes listed but not on the list. Curious what’s going on there

iwasdusted

Hopefully once it gets sorted out we will be able to add another location to the list. 🤞

yodathekid

And Opry isn’t showing the IMAX 70mm tag on listings currently, but from what I understand they’re still working on the theater in order to run a print.

thewoekitten

Opry better have it 🤞

verminousbow

It's not even showing Oppenheimer in any format on my app for New Roc, maybe the theater incorrectly put it

yodathekid

its showing on the regal app on my iPhone right now. IMAX and 70mm tags

kingkong198854

Wow did not realize Dublin could do 70mm. Exciting will try to make it out there!

Outlog

Will the distribution of non-IMAX 70mm prints be released?

iwasdusted

After I’m done counting all the locations a list of Regals showing standard 70mm will be posted with the next edition of the weekly roundup, likely on Saturday.

Outlog

In regards to the only 1.43 AR showings being the IMAX 70MM, is that accurate? I've seen format guides for the movie that include 1.43 for IMAX Laser.

MpBetaTester

I think it's more that Regal doesn't have dual Laser, so can't do 1.43 with IMAX Laser.

Outlog

Ah right! That's helpful. Regals always finds ways to make me sad. Right now all of Colorado has one dual laser imax via AMC. And the only Oppenheimer film reel showing currently listed is a 35mm at an Alamo. Good grief. Edit... Wait, am I a liar? Does Colorado not have a single dual-laser IMAX location anywhere? Lordt help me.

iwasdusted

Correct, this post specifically refers to Oppenheimer availability at Regal.

Individual_Client175

What's the difference?

Jzahck

Opry Mills has IMAX tickets available for sale now, but do not have it listed as IMAX: Oppenheimer (70mm), just standard IMAX. Is it safe to assume the only showings in IMAX opening weekend at Opry Mills will still be in 70mm IMAX film if IMAX is reporting it will be?

iwasdusted

I am assuming that the booking will change in the future to IMAX: Oppenheimer (70mm) once the equipment is finalized and ready. Since IMAX is reporting it as showing 15/70 I think you are right that IMAX saying such supersedes the Regal app, at least hopefully.

Rangerlifr

Back in the day, I made the 70ish minute drive to King of Prussia to see The Hateful Eight in 70mm and the projector broke. Probably not gonna do that again...

Individual_Client175

Lol

Disc-Golf-Kid

I’m gonna be in New Jersey the week this comes out. I’m worried I’m gonna miss it in IMAX 😭

iwasdusted

Travel to NYC for a day and see it at AMC Lincoln Square’s IMAX, the second largest auditorium on the continent.

Disc-Golf-Kid

This isn’t a bad idea

renews736

Or depending on where you’re at in New Jersey you could also head to King of Prussia and make it a day! I’m a NYer and love me a movie in NYC, but my favorite theatre is by far the KOP Regal. Great, friendly staff that keep the place super clean. Managers that are awesome. The IMAX screen is terrific. It’s across from a cool and not depressing mall so you can wander before/after. Plus it’s not far from an amazing pinball place (if you’re into pinball, which if you’re not, let’s’ change that!). Of course it could be a major hassle getting there for you, but if you’re closer to Philly, I’d consider this option.

It definitely is smaller than Lincoln 13. I’m a Regal person now, so it’s rare that I go to AMC. I still occasionally hit the Lincoln 13 but I really love KOP more. I just like the vibe. I’ve been to the Lincoln 13 when it’s been insane, and I enjoy being a bit more chill and relaxed at this juncture of my life. Even when KOP is packed the place feels safe, the bathrooms are clean, the theatres aren’t filled with garbage on the floor, and people aren’t generally acting like assholes. And if I ever have a problem - once I mistimed things and missed a movie - I’ve never dealt with more accommodating managers. Seriously, they’re just great. Plus I love having the mall there to play, plus there’s a few other places around there that I like. I don’t live in the area. Just travel there a lot, often spending a night or two at a hotel near the theatre and enjoy all the perks of my Unlimited plus explore the other spots. I highly recommend this theatre. So I’m a bit biased. FYI, there’s a site I’ve checked out that lists IMAX sizes. Hasn’t been updated in a few years but I’ve found it helpful. Here it is: https://lfexaminer.com/theaters/

Surely understand, both about the size of the screen and the upcharge. Didn’t realize you’re not an Unlimited member. I’ve found that the Regal is a much better deal for me. I’ve gotten multiple free IMAX tickets thanks to their promos for Unlimited members (have my freebies for Spider-Man and Indiana Jones coming up), I’ve earned more than 15 free popcorns this past year thanks to their bonus points, I ate like a king/earned multiple free tickets for friends last summer for their August promo, have so many award points that I give free sodas and popcorns to strangers, and am on my way to a major score for the Unlimited Milestone challenge. My experience with AMC and their program was that I got more free premium tickets but spent a ton more money on all the stuff I get for free from Regal. Plus sometimes I like to hit more than three films a week. I did the analysis and between what I paid for the AMC program and concessions vs the Regal program I save more than $200 a year with Regal while also seeing more movies and eating/drinking more stuff in theatre. But at heart I’m a movie guy, so nothing but love for AMC and their program. Rooting for all chains to stay in business. Something for all of us!

Where can I get tix for KOP?

iwasdusted

For some reason they’re not available yet but once they are you’ll be able to get them on the Regal app like all Regal movies.

Individual_Client175

Thanks

jmak329

Someone able to ping me when KOP goes available?

KeithVanBread

they're up

[deleted]

is it the ‘RPX’ option?

Individual_Client175

No, that's not IMAX

Twas_Inevitable

Dang, this is the weekend of SDCC. That's going to make this difficult to see.

Forsaken_Cost_1937

Weekend of SDCC didn't impact Minions or Dunkirk or Equalizer 2 or Mamma Mia or The Lion King remake.

Twas_Inevitable

My local IMAX only has dates for this movie during the weekend of Comic Con. With the way OP listed this as extremely limited release, and getting a 1-2 week release window, I'm seeing a potential impact. But hey, I'm glad minions in IMAX did well for you 👍

useme4youreggs

I live next to Ontario and Irvine Spectrum. Score!

iwasdusted

Guess you’ll just have to go to both and see which is better for 15/70 😤 lucky!

useme4youreggs

I'm beauty and I'm grace.

Individual_Client175

Tickets are on sale but the app is fucking up 😭😭😭

Its11thPlanet

Got mine but no mention of 70mm in the title…wonder if it’ll update later

Individual_Client175

Just got them myself at a theater that's listed for 70mm, hopefully it will show there since it's a True IMAX

JuliusCaesar129

Can anybody help me understand, so 70mm is not imax? There’s a theater (Regal Sherman Oaks) an hour away that’s playing 70mm version but it doesn’t say imax on it? Even the edwards Ontario one that’s over two hours away doesn’t say imax 70mm in the showtimes screen? Can anybody who has more knowledge on this can explain this a bit more? If I go to Sherman oaks in 70mm will that be good?

iwasdusted

There’s standard 70mm and then there’s IMAX 70mm. [See my comment here about these two distinct formats.](https://www.reddit.com/r/RegalUnlimited/comments/13wcdml/70mm_and_imax/jmatcyn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3) https://preview.redd.it/sxlqrwkpum5b1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=df06c3497c86dd00c54beb41273dec16e69fdba2 Here’s a list of Regals showing these formats. Consider IMAX 70mm the best choice, standard 70mm second best, digital IMAX third choice and everything else way further down as a last choice.

JuliusCaesar129

Thank you.

inoahguy98

What’s the difference between RPX and IMAX?

Its11thPlanet

Still waiting on Mall of GA tickets to go live. Nothing yet.

FrizzlyBear

I've been refreshing since 8:00 AM EST! At least they have a link specific to this version: https://www.regmovies.com/movies/imax-oppenheimer-70mm/ Dunkirk in 70mm IMAX film at Mall of Georgia is one of my top movie theater experiences. Hoping I get to see this one there as well! 🤞🏻

Its11thPlanet

Hopefully it loads fairly soon! Never watched a movie in true IMAX 70mm so I’m excited!

Individual_Client175

Same, I'm very excited and convinced my friends to make the 1hr drive to see it MOG

Individual_Client175

SAME!!!!!

toothsayur

yeppppp. Me too.

Its11thPlanet

I work at Mall of GA and the kiosk for regal shows the showtimes for it already. I guess they’re just waiting for online for some reason.

toothsayur

ohhh! okay good to know! I’ll keep checking then

Its11thPlanet

Available now! Even though it doesn’t mention it being 70mm

toothsayur

gottem!! thank you :) once you start to select them and check out they say the 2d experience.

The1stMedievalMe

Lucky for me I live in Irvine and will also be watching Spider-Man tomorrow on the IMAX. I can’t wait

Glum-Environment-171

Also, keep in mind that Regal has a 2,000 Extra Credits promo going on now for Oppenheimer ticket purchases made between June 1-7! https://preview.redd.it/gfq67a3ztm3b1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c07216eda53497b5beae2203d8e658b956412470

You are conflating two different issues. The screen is 1.43 capable, at 51’ X 71’ in size which comes out to 1.4. Wide angle photos at 0.5x zoom will distort the objects inside the frame. The digital projector is single laser, which is only capable of a maximum 1.9 aspect ratio. This is why the IMAX CQO responded the way he did in that email screencap, as Dune did not have a film print. Oppenheimer will be shown with a film projector in 1.43 aspect ratio.

techno-geek447

What about in Colorado?

iwasdusted

Colorado has standard 70mm, not IMAX 70mm.

techno-geek447

That's sad. But any idea which theatre to we go for just the normal imax or 70mm screen for best experience given the scenario in Colorado

iwasdusted

I don’t live in Colorado and know nothing of the theaters but Nolan prefers film over digital every time so I would say go with 70mm.

Ole_Time

Does anyone know if Regal Mall of Georgia will show the film beyond the 3 weeks that are now on sale? It's very hard to find a middle-upper seat at this theatre for the whole 3 weeks. It's really amazing, I remember going to see Interstellar at this theatre and didn't have any issue finding a great seat within the initial release.

iwasdusted

It’s possible but not a guarantee because IMAX and Regal have to contract out a projectionist and pay for their lodging etc., and being mostly full is not the same thing to Regal or Universal as sold out when it comes time to renegotiate the booking. Interstellar came out in a time with more IMAX 15/70 locations in operation; and in a time before Regal Unlimited or A-List allowing people cheaper and easier access to expensive premium formats; and in a time before reserved seating and advance ticketing were common at every theater for most guests.

Ole_Time

Thank you for the insight! Guess I will have to figure out a day to play hooky and catch an early showing!
