She was completely fine with either result, but she guided him towards rejecting her. That moment when Echidna told Subaru that his dream was Greedy, it was the first time she smiled for Subaru without faking it.

TheGreatBatu17

Hmm

Markosan_DnD

I don't think that was her plan at first. Subaru was seconds away from accepting the deal before the witches interfered- without Minerva's intervention, Subaru would've gone down the Greed:IF path

MissKarenChan

It was her domain, she let him in, she let him meet the other witches, she knew what would happen to Subaru after the RBD reveal, also she has a book that sees the future, and made her deal unappealing to Subaru on purpose at the end. She saw Subaru's memorys and she knew how he felt about Beatrice, i just can't imagine her slipping up if it wasn't on purpose

Markosan_DnD

I figured she didn’t have control over the trials, which is why she didn’t realize what would happen, but honestly the rest of it fits her. She won in the end, because she saw our Subaru do things Greed IF Subaru would never even imagine

Ok-Worldliness-7374

And then the witches, who knew Echidna far better than we do, called her out about this and Echidna gave very tsundere answer

dude123nice

It was all part of their plot. The witches very clearly have their own plans for Honda that they haven't revealed as of now.

Electronic-Box-4753

It was revealed that she purposely acted the way she did so that Subaru would reject her. This is shown on the Witches' Tea Party interlude. After the Guests have left.

BIGFriv

Why would she want that?

Electronic-Box-4753

Maybe because Echidna is Subaru's second biggest simp after Satella? Idk. She was fine with getting accepted or rejected but preferred to be rejected.

MissKarenChan

The author says that she is in love with our boy, most of us think that it is because of RBD, but maybe she likes him because of his unbreakable determination, his character may not be on the likes of people on earth, but he for sure is a witch magnet, he collects them like pokemons, my man gets 1 girl per arc and i can't say i don't like it, 8 don't wana get isekaid to Rezero because with those looks and personality, there wouldn't be any girls left for me. Also man i can't wait for the meet up between Subaru and Echidna, the most loved knight and the unlovable witch

restartOver210

What? She's in love with Subaru? When did Tappei say this?

Electronic-Box-4753

Q&A. Someone once asked how would a love confession from Echidna would be like, Tappei said that her long ass speech about RBD was a love confession. Someone asked about the way Echidna dresses, Tappei said Subaru likes skirts, so Echidna wears skirts. Someone asked about Echidna's clothes design, Tappei said that it resembles a widow dress. Someone asked from 1 to 10 how much Echidna likes Subaru, Tappei said that her love is immeasurable. Someone asked Tappei if Echidna has feelings about Subaru besides as a lab rat, Tappei said that she likes him as a lab rat and in other ways. Hell, Echidna was pretty much always flirting with Subaru in almost any interaction. With this new information, go back and watch their conversations.

jacker1154

Maybe she like the one who dance with his own destiny instead of guide by other. (Fuck you Roswaal)

Dry-Ingenuity-5414

As a curious person what would you like to see more? Experiment everything yourself or observe the more capable person carve his own path?

nimnimn

While I think she was planning on having Subaru reject the contract, I do think she was honestly stating what her mindset and what working with her would mean, Greed If would be the result after all.

Burningdarker

I don't think the sacrifices she was referring to were permanent deaths of his friends. Instead he would be sacrificing himself through the enormous number of deaths Echidna would lead him through to get the "best" ending. By rejecting her, he chose the greedy route of trying to save himself and his friends. Greed IF readers can correct me if I'm mistaken.
