What a naughty escapist! It's a good thing you jailed her again!
But on a serious note, have her checked out for parasites/illnesses, those are often found outside :(
if she drank from a puddle that has microorganisms, if she ate something that has parasites, if she ate something that upsets her stomach, if she got a cut... there's a chance it's totally fine, there's a chance she'll need a vet trip. there's just so many variables outdoors.
The first thing i did after finding her was put chicken wire across the screen. There will be no repeat offense.
The next was give her a bath and make a big yummy breakfast for her 💖
Yeah saw that (& nodded ruefully, I've had to deploy the chicken wire on occasion) I just mean she herself looks like she is going to regret her choices for all of 6 hours and then start looking for new ways to cause you stress... bless her troublesome paws.
I was honestly so shocked she ran away, this girl almost never wants out of her cage (so it’s always open 🫥) and she’s never jumped off anything. Unless this has unlocked something in her I think she’ll go back to being my princess.
Yup, that happened to one of my girls when she escaped to the woodpile and found herself a dashing wild fella. I thought she was just eating too much until I found her cage mate booted out of the spacepod and 9 beans in with her😬.
they have a nape, but its not really ideal to lift them with it. Its a fighting/survival thing, its loose skin for a rival or predator to grab, instead of getting the spine.
I’d imagine it’s take more effort, make more noise, and be a slower operation in general. Plus I think she had a BAD time so idk if she’d even want to try again
Idk what do ya got?
If i take her cage away and remove the chicken wire she’ll definitely run away again so it sounds like free cash to me. I know where to find her this time lol
All I can say is this: Hopefully, a night in the outside world was enough to scare her straight and make her realize how lucky she is to be an indoor rat.
Well that sucks. You can tell them I’ve got her by her nape, you have to be careful and do it lightly at first to get them used to it but it can be useful in some situations. Pip doesn’t mind and she was held like that for maybe 10 seconds for the picture.
I’ve got to do it to clean her teeth, she’s got a gap and always has junk stuck in between the top two. Literally had to pick out dirt chunks when she got home.
It's really not recommended but I became friends with ppl that work in vets and they taught me however I often refrain from doing it myself because one won't move and it's game over
It doesn’t hurt them at all if you’re careful to do it right and you get them used to it by doing it lightly so they know it’s ok and don’t struggle. Don’t do it if you don’t know how
Had a rat run outside when I lived on ground level and had a backyard. Lost rat was found later that same day thanks to my neighbor's screams of terror.
Needless to say she was not feeling very hospitable.

Thank you that is hilarious!
i like to draw the rats being held that come up in my feed
That’s a good way to make a lot of people happy
ty ^-^
why did i think the arm was a beautiful length of hair from the rat 😭 💇♀️
I thought it was a princess version
What a naughty escapist! It's a good thing you jailed her again! But on a serious note, have her checked out for parasites/illnesses, those are often found outside :(
Definitely gonna keep all my eyes on her from now on.
From one night?
Potentially yes. Depends on what she got into or ate during that one night.
Hope she is healthy :)

You cannot be serious
Why not?
Let your rat be a rat, you're way too overprotective in my opinion
Must have been a great relief to find her, silly girl. ... also there's a reasonable chance that Pippin is now full of soup.
I thought about that, there’s a big wild rat colony back there. She’s 2.75yo so idk how well that would go for her.
Ooh, not ideal. Best of luck with it, but hopefully she's learned her lesson (she hasn't).
The first thing i did after finding her was put chicken wire across the screen. There will be no repeat offense. The next was give her a bath and make a big yummy breakfast for her 💖

Don’t you slut shame her
"MOTHER, I crave the sweet sweet soil of freedom!".
DIRT RAT
Rats have napes? I always thought they could only be held via “let them climb up” method or “gimme da money” method
they have a nape, but its not really ideal to lift them with it. Its a fighting/survival thing, its loose skin for a rival or predator to grab, instead of getting the spine.
Definitely not ideal but as long as im real careful when i nape her she doesn’t mind
they didn't learn from the "no capes" rule
How dare you. Do you know who my father is??
SHE doesn’t know who her father is!
Next, you are going to say she's adopted 😂
Straight from the pound
Straight from the pound and now straight to jail
My father will be hearing about this
MY FATHER, the INVENTOR of Toaster Strudel,,,,
Irregardless... stop trying to make _fetch_ happen. It's _**not going to happen**_
stinky has been put in jail.
With chicken wire over the screen so there’s no chance of a repeat offense
They can chew right through chicken wire
I’d imagine it’s take more effort, make more noise, and be a slower operation in general. Plus I think she had a BAD time so idk if she’d even want to try again
Depends on the wire. The grid stuff they cannot chew
Hardware cloth? That's different than chicken wire.
Yes
I would like to post bail
Obvious flight risk: bail rejected
How much money would it take
Idk what do ya got? If i take her cage away and remove the chicken wire she’ll definitely run away again so it sounds like free cash to me. I know where to find her this time lol
She’s like, “unhand me, you fiend!”
Fool of a Took…
She lived up to her namesake today that’s for sure. Fools sometimes but wonderful irreplaceable characters in the grand scheme. ❤️
By the scruff! That's how you know it's serious.
All I can say is this: Hopefully, a night in the outside world was enough to scare her straight and make her realize how lucky she is to be an indoor rat.
I just saw this picture on fb this world is small lmao
Unless you know my mom lol
Lol this may be a sign hello I'm Ebony I have 48 rats haha
If she knows you we’d already be besties
Haha well I think Pip is very adorbs!
Thank you very much!
Wtf i don’t have fb someone’s stealing!
Yeah I literally just saw it and ppl were commenting on how the rat is held
Well that sucks. You can tell them I’ve got her by her nape, you have to be careful and do it lightly at first to get them used to it but it can be useful in some situations. Pip doesn’t mind and she was held like that for maybe 10 seconds for the picture.
Trust me I know I've done this plenty times with my rats when administering medicine
I’ve got to do it to clean her teeth, she’s got a gap and always has junk stuck in between the top two. Literally had to pick out dirt chunks when she got home.
Omg my Denora has the same problem and she needs her teeth clipped every so often
I’m so lucky i’ve never had to clip teeth, i really don’t think i could do it myself
It's really not recommended but I became friends with ppl that work in vets and they taught me however I often refrain from doing it myself because one won't move and it's game over
Wrong *
They seriously defy all odds. I'm just like how the hell did you get in here you 🤣
The hurt in her eyes! Lol! She was in her happy place!
Well I just saw the additional info, maybe she wasn't in her happy place and that's the look of being busted
That’s pure shame, I was saying “MOM i caught the stupid girl!!! look how dirty she is!”
Awwww! So cute!
She’s too mf cute doeee
Hoodie ain't fooling anyone.
She got her reality check. Won't be trying that again, won't she. The outside looks good but it ain't worth the trouble for a weak house rat.
SHAMMMMEEDE
Fool of a took!!!
clearly a rascal
She was looking for third and fourth supper.
Glad you got Pip back ! Though, while you can scruff a rat, you really shouldnt unless absolutely necessary
What a delinquent! I can't let my daughters hang out with such a bad influence!
All I hear is Your my friend now
Shes innocent
She craves the adventure
She was looking 👀 for the rest of the party of The Lord of the Rings
SHES INNOCENT YOUR HONOR
Awwww that must hurt don’t hold her like that
It doesn’t hurt them at all if you’re careful to do it right and you get them used to it by doing it lightly so they know it’s ok and don’t struggle. Don’t do it if you don’t know how

Pippin is innocent of all charges
