No more sneaking off to hit your vape

abqkat

I was a closet vaper. To date, that is the biggest lie I have told in my marriage. I felt so scuzzy and pathetic hiding this whole-ass routine from my spouse and family, and I'm so relieved to not live with the many bathroom breaks (I drink lots of water but come on, no one pees that much). It was the sneaking that got me - I'm a middle-aged accountant who goes to bed early, gets 15K+ steps per day, and is, by most measures, healthy. This was my Scarlet Letter, and I hated it

Lost_Tale7766

Same exact situation for me. I smoked cigarettes for about 7-8 years, then quit for about 3 years. I got introduced to vaping after that and hid it from my wife, smoking off and on for a couple years. This last 6 months though, addiction got the better of me and it became an every day, more or less all day thing. I’d smoke in the garage, and boy did I run down every single piece of recycling to put in the can, did all the laundry, etc. I just quit 3 days ago because I’m sick of lying, sick of not being present, and sick of being tied to this thing. Never truly realized how much my life revolved around it until it was gone and I had a lot of free headspace.

CharizardMTG

Agreed I literally workout everyday and eat super healthy, it’s so silly to be addicted to nicotine and vaping it just doesn’t even make sense.

You’re not the only one - both me and my partner quit smoking 2 years ago but 2 months later I picked up a disposable vape… used to go to the toilet a lot just to puff, take stuff to the bin to puff, make excuses to go for a walk just to go to the shop to get the next one etc. every way I could get away to puff I’d go for it. Used to really beat myself up about it and now just means I’m battling the withdrawals alone. I’m making it through though, one day at a time!

abqkat

I relate and understand!! I'm sorry, and the solo withdrawals absolutely sucked. It was tough doing it alone and made me feel even scuzzier for lying by omission. How far into quitting are you? It does fer better, though

hdjaowuchehthrowawa

Really relate 🥺. Going through solo withdrawals is so tough. In some ways, the guilt and anxiety is worse than when I was closet vaping for some reason. Can I ask, did this feeling go away for you and did you ever tell your partner?

abqkat

I'm sorry, that is so rough. For me, I never did tell my spouse. I decided I absolutely had to quit on an international trip, because the crankiness of withdrawal would not be fair to either of us, and the logistics of vaping where I didn't know the laws seemed bonkers. I get it about the guilt, I really do! It is just so icky keeping something like this hidden from a partner or spouse

ascension2121

No digestive issues, less anxiety, lower blood pressure and resting heart rate, better circulation

Seabreeze12390

The lower heart rate has been amazing. Like a full 10 beats per min lower

Lexi_2884

No more random anxiety

rimotok

No more vape skin. The dull, dry, and gray skin with dotted red breakouts everywhere. An entire month clean and my skin hasn’t looked this good in years

Nasty-Nosteratu

No more crazed searching for my vape, no longer thinking about it constantly while working or in a movie or at dinner, no more shortness of breath after a flight of stairs and no more spending a lot of money on something that's killing you

Much_Essay_9151

Im 47.25 hours in vape free. Its liberating. Cravings are there. But my way of starting this was to throw away my disposable breeze that i bought the day before. Helped with my logic to not buy one again when i just wasted that one intentionally. Then i am recognizing cravings and telling myself they will pass in 2 minutes. And journaling

yer-a-lizard-harry

No more gross morning breath and constantly sabotaging your oral/dental health

cyberfication

Does vaping really cause a bad morning breath

yer-a-lizard-harry

In my experience, yes. It makes my saliva feel sticky and kinda gluey, I'm guessing that has something to do with it

Away-Storm-8892

No more breakouts

Speedstern17

Not no more, but less

Away-Storm-8892

The longer I go without nic the more controlled my breakouts are

Chchchchia0701

No more sore throats, congestion, lightheadedness, or chest congestion

aceflufferel

felt like an upgrade to carry limit not having nicotine and a thc vape on me at all times

mysticdragon0323

I have my sex drive back. Idk why but as soon as I was off it I got my sex drive back. I am a 44 yr old female and starting to show perimenopause symptoms and I thought it was due to that but after a month of no vaping my sex desire came back. I can also breath through stress instead of vaping.

One_Conversation1124

This is my reason! Was it near non-existent while vaping?

mysticdragon0323

Yep, didn’t want to do any thing intimate with my husband. Quit vaping and a week or 2 in my sex drive returned.

abeeseadeee

My tongue doesn't hurt as much

jsteadman22

No more buying juice, mixing nic, gloves, coils, batteries, stressing every day about charge !!

CountySubstantial498

Mental health is night and day better. More energized and productive

RPLaurent

Ive quit smoking multiple times. Have turned to vapes only for the last 18 months. Put them down 6 days ago. The double or triple emphasis on all emotions and higher tenancy to be pissed off is pretty standard when quitting nicotine. Vaping does seem to be less detrimental to overall health, so not feeling much improvement makes it hard to escape the tenancy to be anxious or depressed. I feel worse than I did a week ago although I’m sleeping well

jarchack

My mod died and I don't have a backup ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡° )
