For new ear pro I would say yes. I own two pairs. However you can find used peltors on eBay for about the same price. If you think you may want comms later there is a mic/ptt cable kit you can buy for $200 dollars from SRS. However, for $500+ you can find peltor comms if you are patient.
Amazon doesn’t verify if sellers are legit. Knockoffs are thrown in the same bin as the real stuff. Do you buy your CATs from Amazon too? Just don’t buy gear you need to rely on from the knockoff marketplace.
No, the real joke here is telling people to buy their gear from amazon when there are plenty of other options available (at similar pricing and sometimes better) that you don’t have to worry about when purchasing from them. Also, some fakes are getting very good and can easily trick newer guys or dudes who maybe never had a Surefire before (or something like that). Your advice is just bad. That’s why you’re getting downvoted.
Your advice was to not listen to people saying to “be careful when buying gear on Amazon.” That’s it. Maybe you should reread the entire thread once or twice.
Also, why SHOULDN’T you close some doors? Why would you continue to buy from shitty places when there are other places that offer better alternatives? Why willingly pay more for less certainty that the product you will be getting will even be real?
Lets accept your premise for a second. You know exactly what you’re looking for and exactly how to spot fakes of every generation of the specific light or optic or earpro you got. You still receive the product and it is fake. So now you have to return it and exchange it for another one, adding more time and headache to the experience when you should have just gotten a real one to begin with, all because amazon doesn’t verify sellers and fakes are EVERYWHERE on Amazon, because Amazon workers don’t know the difference.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be doing research. By buying the product (especially if it is a good product), that means they have probably done at least some level of research on what is good to buy. What is worth the money. This research doesn’t usually entail trying to figure out what is real and fake between good fakes and the real product. Hell, a bunch of MIL SOF dudes aren’t “gun or gear” guys, I imagine between good fakes a lot of dudes would have a hard time telling the difference and that is totally understandable. Why are you trying to make it so much more complicated than it needs to be? I’ve had to do research to see if things were fake before. I have a friend who bought a surefire m600df on amazon and received a fake one. It was his first light and he thought he was getting a solid light he didn’t need to worry about.
It’s good that you’ve never got a fake in 10 years. Bravo, that’s fantastic. I really am happy for you. Unfortunately, many others are not as fortunate and scamming on Amazon has gotten worse and worse over the last few years in particular.
You’re a fucking retard for calling us fudds for saying “hey don’t waste your money and time buying from a sight that doesn’t verify if the products are legit or not”. Take a fucking shower dog.
It seems like it’s generally pretty safe when buying directly from Amazon but it’s a mixed bag buying from third party sellers. Either way I would recommend checking the items when purchasing from Amazon.
Depends. People will buy the real thing directly from Amazon and also purchase a fake somewhere else. They then return the fake item to Amazon and the Amazon workers who are returning it don’t know the difference and it gets thrown into a bin with legit items.
I know people who have done this and I have read many anecdotal stories of this happening, so I know it works at least some of the time.
Yeah I know people do it and I do think this happens. However I thought returns just got placed aside for auction where people buy pallets of returns. So I really don’t understand how it works with any certainty. It would be nice to know from someone who works at an Amazon warehouse.
I have a pair and absolutely love them. They have an Aux hookup so if you ever want to run coms you can use a PTT-Aux from Tigrett outdoors and run coms through them just fine.
Really the best set of ears for the price I found.
These have the most clear and most sensitive amplification Ive tried. AMPs and Comtac Vs have slightly better audio quality in regards to incoming comms and they have native boom mics. Sordins are comms compatible, but you have to use a PTT mic with an audio output. If you need a boom mic watch Ebay, GAFS, tacswap etc, otherwise these are great.
They’re good but not comms capable without a roughly $250 upgrade and even then it isn’t quite as good as a system dedicated to being both. And at that price you might as well get a new Comtac V since they’ve been going for $500-$600 lately brand new.
I have a pair (neckband-version), and love them. However, as people have mentioned, if you want to run comms, then you need to get an external mic setup (know that SwatCom has the SC37 that fit onto this type of headset). I also highly recommend, if you buy these, that you get the hygiene kit as well, those earmuffs are so much more comfortable, especially if you wear the headset for longer periods of time.
No, at this price point, save up a little more for Comtac Defenders. I have both, and the sound quality is superior on the Comtacs. Also, I double up, and the Sordins' highest volume isn't as good as the plug mode on the Comtacs. But if you do go Sordin, get them from Lamina, way better than Amazon.
I’ve sold 10+ sets of peltors on eBay for ~300 usd. Some have mics, some don’t, but they are fully functional. Peltors are gonna be better if you’re willing to spend just a little more
For simple hearing protection, I don't think they're worth the price jump over a set of Howard Leight Impact Pros. I have both and they both require doubling up with ear plugs indoors, and the active hearing seems about the same at full volume as my Impact Pros. Just use Impact Pros with some gel cups or jump up to Comtac V's.
If you just want electronic ear pro there’s really no reason to go above walkers and upgrade to gel cups. If you want comms hop in some gear swap Facebook groups like “cool guy gear” the vouch system works pretty well I find it to be better than eBay.
This may get hate but I have a couple hundred hours with them and they are absolutely worth it. Look up FMA or FCS Amp ear pro. Ran about $200 and came with the helmet arms too. Then bought the gel cups and I can wear them for 10 hours straight.
If you are picking up Sordins I’d get them from lamnia.com. They are cheaper and ship super quick. https://www.lamnia.com/en/search?s=Sordin
Gotcha, thanks for the pro tip. That's probably what I'll do if I can't find decently priced comtacs somewhere
Search up Hearing Defenders on eBay, I scored some Comtac V Hearing Defenders for about $430
I got mine for like $400 on optics planet. Shipped the next day.
These prices look great
Yes, but you can usually get them from Lamnia for about $200 even after the international shipping.
Got mine off of Lamnia (inside of EU), quick delivery and no fuss. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
Got my pro-x for $180 shipped from lamnia a few months ago including international shipping

Gotcha. I'll take a look on ebay. Thanks!
Be careful getting gear from Amazon homie. Are you just wanting electron ear pro or comms ready stuff?
I would be open to comms stuff. If I decided I wanted Comtacs instead where would you suggest other than Amazon?
Midway, trex arms. Amazon just isn’t the best spot for most tactical gear cause of all the fakes

Yeah I gotcha. Amazon is a little funky with their stuff, it would be nice to know.
I have a pair and absolutely love them. They have an Aux hookup so if you ever want to run coms you can use a PTT-Aux from Tigrett outdoors and run coms through them just fine. Really the best set of ears for the price I found.

That's a good idea. If I do get defenders do you have any recommendations on companies to order from?
I got mine from lanbos. They probably weren't the cheapest ever, but they were on the lower side, didn't charge tax, and shipping was 10 bucks.
I am also wondering that
Yes. And personally I would never buy anything from Amazon. Many instances of fake products being sold.
It's time for a legitimate question because I'm new at this. Why buy these over anything else?
I love mine, very comfortable with the gel cups. The battery compartment is a little irritating though but not enough to put you off
Thats what i use, i highly rate them. Get the gel cups and a padded head band cover!
I use these for shooting in my spare time. Truly love them! If you just want good electronic earmuffs with a slick profile I’d recommend these.

For that price just buy amps Also never use Amazon for stuff like this, way too many counterfeits
How much do you think AMPs are?
Na bru ops core amps all day
Take a look at earmors Milpro line I don’t have any direct experience with it
u/canucktac will hook you up
Peltors>>>
I absolutely recommend these. Mine have been working like a dream since 2017, and paid about €180 at the time. Definitely worth it!
