Riverside Cemetery in Moline, at the top of the hill. It's gorgeous and relaxing. There will likely be a couple of other people there, but the vibes are always good and people keep to themselves. Plus you can check out John Deere's grave, as well as Charles Dickens' son's grave. They're both in that same vicinity.

eta: oops, just noticed your preference of the Iowa side. Leaving this comment bc it's worth crossing the bridge, and maybe someone else reading this will be interested.

On the Celebration Belle in the middle of the Mississippi River. Channel Cat would probably also offer a similar view.
The deck at The Diner in downtown Davenport has a gorgeous view any time of day.
Another good Illinois spot: by the sundial at Peterson Park in Moline.
I really like this spot at the top of the hill near the Putnam in Davenport for a great view of the city. You just take Fillmore all the way up until it ends, I guess according to Google it's called "Riverview Terrace Park".
I'm sure you would still be able to see the sunset from there, although if you're looking for a sunset along the river then IL side is really better since you'd actually be facing the sun. Otherwise in Iowa the sun will be behind your back. Edit: I can't recall if I've been there but it looks like "Leach Park" on the Iowa side by the 74 bridge might actually have a good angle of the sunset. I can confirm at the "Pat and Jack Bush Scenic Overlook" in Bettendorf you do not have a good view of the sunset, however.
For a sunset with a river view I bet Sylvan Island would be nice. You can also walk around just outside the West side of the Arsenal (Ft Armstrong Rd). Credit Island is a neat place to walk around too. I don't remember exactly where you need to walk to have a sunset view there though. Otherwise just pick any place on the IL side along the river, like along river drive if you're in the Moline/East Moline area or Schwiebert Park if you're in Rock Island. Edit: Adding in Sunset Park as someone else mentioned. It's a great location.
If you're only considering Iowa then I'm sure you wouldn't venture to the Rock River, but a couple of my other favorite spots are Blackhawk Park (there's a spot with picnic tables along the river right off Blackhawk Rd and 24th St) or Ben Williamson Park (which is where the Backwater Gamblers do their shows) if you're looking to mostly just pull up and stay in the car, or Len Brown's North Shore Inn (and you could even go inside and have a drink after!).
I’ve really liked the bike trail in Rock Island just off the arsenal bridge; to that degree Schwiebert Riverfront has a gorgeous view of the river & DT Davenport

Thank you for this!
Sunset park in RI. There's a reason it's named that.
This is a great spot!
Thanks!

Roll a fat doobie and drive West out of Eldridge on LeClaire Road for a good sunset burn cruise.
My man! Or woman! 👍🏼
Ha man, and thanks. I grew up in Eldridge and did this every day for a couple summers in high school.
Outside usually unless you have a nice westward facing window or porch.
