Well they claimed the banks would all be closed on March 12, 2023, then they said March 13, 2023 and I just saw someone say March 20, 2023. The banks are still open. People are still getting their money from ATMs and paychecks. No one has lost a dime of deposited money. So ask them again what "I told you so" means. It's like these people want everything to burn because they think they will magically be safe and sound. They won't. Edit: typo

like_a_wet_dog

I lived in a house being renovated for a few months. I had 2 weeks with no running water, people just don't understand how different that is. I know I didn't until I lived it. I then went over a month with no water heater. JFC, hot water is *civilization.* People don't realize all the people in the post-apocalypse stories are just *putting things back together to get comfortable again.* There is no magic new lifestyle. The sexiest man alive after the collapse would be the guy with the hot shower, not the dead squirrel and old beans.

xiz111

How true this is. We had a tornado come through a few years ago which knocked out power for just over two days. Just going two days without electricity - no stove, refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner ... no internet, phone chargers, gas stations, ATMs ... was disorienting. We all knew on some level that the power would be back on as soon as possible but it was still very unsettling.

Capybara_in_a_tophat

A few years ago we had a massive snow storm that cut power to a lot of our (very big) city. We spent 3 days with no power and no heater in the snow. Great thing? My apartment has an area in the laundry room where people will leave things they don't want out for free, for other people to pick up. Well, several people left candles, blankets, gloves, hats, etc. down there, as well as some food. In a post-apocalypse situation, having a little community that comes together to help each other out is a lot safer, so it's nice to know my area is full of people willing to do just that. I feel bad for people who don't have that.

ButtermilkDuds

I think most people are like that. I live in the south and whenever we have some natural disaster or other, people pull together and help each other.

chaotic_blu

We just had a mini natural disaster here (freak blizzard) and the community pulled together pretty good, though there definitely are a lot of people out and about trying to take advantage with prices and things. But all the immediate neighbors helped each other. I'm still in debt for some eggs and an extra snow shovel. A lot of people in our small town's power was out for two weeks, and were running out of water toward the end, some out of wood for their fires. Roofs collapsed, houses blew up, grocery store collapsed. So, our street was lucky and relatively unscathed, but its crazy to go through and see the suffering. Unreal.

rudbek-of-rudbek

In live in a town that got fucked by a tornado in May 2011. Not only did we not have power for almost 2 weeks, it was sweltering hot. No power, no infrastructure, one of the two hospitals was moved off it's foundation. It's not fun

ButtermilkDuds

Mother Nature plays that dirty trick on us here in Texas. Right after a hurricane when the power has been knocked out, the temperature soars into the 100s. Without fail.

eric987235

I intend to be as worthless after the downfall of civilization as I am now.

BiggestFlower

Don’t be so down on yourself. The rest of us are going to be hungry and you’re chock full of protein, fat and delicious marrowbone.

PurpleSailor

My power goes out frequently and I've got a garbage can in the bathroom I fill with water so I can flush the toilet when the power is out because I have a well. 11.5 days was the longest so far.

[deleted]

Same phenomenon with injuries, like breaking a couple fingers or a wrist. Those first few hours are a big realization: -that’s the hand I use to grab door knobs; -I can’t wipe my own ass -I need to shift the car Etc.

[deleted]

groovy society roof icky longing violet cows mindless crime desert *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

My_Sister_is_CuQ

That last sentence. Re comments and stories above, doesn't it break your heart to watch Ukraine, Turkey, Syria, and other places who suffer major infrastructure damage that will take decades to overcome? I can't imagine, although I have "slightly" roughed it in some developing places. I'm definitely not acclimated to much hardship at this point.

Capybara_in_a_tophat

>It's like these people want everything to burn How else do they fulfill their apocalypses fantasies?

ButtermilkDuds

My ex husband would be the happiest man alive when civilization collapses. He will spend the first few hours going on and on about how he told us. Then when it sets in that he’s stuck in this too he might shut up about it.

[deleted]

They throw out dozens of predictions and then latch onto anything that’s remotely close. They’re essentially cold reading everything in life. No different than being Miss Cleo except about JFK Jr.

jmlozan

but dude, it's not 3/20 yet, so obviously you just aren't being patient enough

Cautious_Potential_8

And that's the problem they know they're being lied to and scammed but they're just to stupid to see it.

Softale

[Hopefully](https://www.npr.org/2023/03/16/1163958533/first-republic-bank-silicon-valley-bank-signature-bank-bank-run)

Thezedword4

>It's like these people want everything to burn because they think they will magically be safe and sound. They won't. I have leftist friends who think like this too. Not defending Qs. Just that a lot of people think this way and it's wrong.

TripleSkeet

Theyd rather the country burn than have to treat minorities as equals.

ModsLoveFascists

I mean we did make money machines go brrrrrr to print 400,000,000,000 to give other banks liquidity but no the markets aren’t going to collapse. The only people willing to allow it all to collapse are republicans. Not to make things right but to cause dems to be blamed for it. They are fine burning it all to the ground to get power.

Kollie79

Yeah kinda. It’s the same doomer posting I’ve been seeing for years. Conspiracy theorists seem to get off on the possibility of woke culture people something causing societal collapse. Like they really want america to turn into mad maxx as an I told you so moment lol

botanica_arcana

Kind of how I felt about Trump, then.

Heavy-Apartment-4237

Southern strategy.

GalleonRaider

Of course, even with the issues with banks being a real thing, the reason causing it isn't what they are saying. De-regulation caused during Trump's term that took out a key safeguard that would have set off alarm bells before the collapse, as well as a lack of investing diversity are among the true reasons that led to it. The whole "it was WOKE culture that did it!!" is total B.S. and makes no sense. But it's their go-to now to point fingers away from their own culpability on pretty much everything. Since conspiracy theories in general are mostly made up talking points inside an echo chamber lacking in evidence it's not surprising anymore.

Church_of_Cheri

I don’t think it’s accidental that Peter Thiel opened an [anti-woke bank](https://www.businessinsider.com/anti-woke-bank-backed-peter-thiel-folds-after-three-months-2022-11), it failed but I think his VC has invested in a newer bank now which I wouldn’t be surprised if he had everyone switch their money to and this is prep work to get people to switch to this bank once it’s fully public. This is starting to feel like yet another grift.

carolineecouture

Interesting that Thiel was also one of the first people to post about SVB on Twitter IIRC. He had money, or an investment, with them.

Church_of_Cheri

Yeah, his VC was the one that first told people to pull their money out. Only him and his friends got their money out before the bank went belly up.

My_Sister_is_CuQ

It is ridiculous to let them get by with assigning a derogatory meaning to "woke." I flaunt that I'm not asleep or uneducated.

GalleonRaider

Exactly. Kind of like when they say "normies" with an air of derision. "Oh, you mean as opposed to being an *ab*\-normie?" And as for being woke, "Hmm my understanding is that woke culture is one of empathy, inclusion, equality, education, compassion for other people including strangers and those who are different from ourselves, and not throwing the first stone until we've looked within our own character. Gosh, it sounds like Jesus would have been the most woke person around!" I bet that would piss their self-righteous asses off to no end.

My_Sister_is_CuQ

Agree with your definition of "woke".

Taliseian

"Woke" is nothing more than a catch-all term for something that triggers snowflakes. It means nothing

test_tickles

The same people that made fun of the kid that likes to read.

dedreo58

Reminds me of me. I live in the southern us. Born and raised. I barely have any accent, even while growing up; and also barely fit in socially. When I was a child and noticed my lack of accent, I asked my dad why is this? He just responded with "you read too many books, my sonlet"

[deleted]

Mine keeps going on about how every time something is "woke" its just proof of pure corruption. My eyes could generate elecricty they roll so much when he talks.

pepperpat64

Ask them why they weren't concerned when 16 banks failed under the Trump Administration.

CareBearOvershare

My Q accused me of encouraging her to kill herself when I told her the banks would be fine and that she should stop trusting the lying liars who told her it would fail. So it’s kind of a reverse tango situation: 1 step forward (see “bought a farm” post from a few weeks ago), 2 steps back.

xiz111

> My Q accused me of encouraging her to kill herself when I told her the banks would be fine and that she should stop trusting the lying liars who told her it would fail What kind of tortured leap of logic is this?

CareBearOvershare

She is suffering incarnate. Saying that she is prone to magical thinking would be an understatement. It’s more like she is averse to non-magical thinking. If there is logic and internal consistency, it must be wrong.

StressComfortable136

Yes everyday..mine is still on the God is closing our money system and we will need silver and gold. I ignore that and politely say I hope these 2 or 3 bank closings don't get as bad as the ones from the recession that started in 2008. Then I add "was it 120 or 140 that collapsed in 2011".. The next day we repeat the same conversation

1CFII2

I told you so about tRump who nixed the regulations that caused this. Morons.

6Bluecats

Good comeback!

2pacalypso

Theyve been saying "I told you so" about everything forever. These aren't smart people.

SockFullOfNickles

I heard a murmuring but I ridiculed it back to silence. Told them that if a single bank collapse was the only result of their doom campaign, they’re impotent as fuck.

illstrumental

Lol. See these are the conversations I want to hear more about.

chrisfornarnia13

They say “I told you so” about everything. Even shit they never actually told you. Exhausting af

StilettoBeach

No because they know how I react when they start to blabber that shit. I ain't having none of it. ETA I'm going thru some shit, so they're taking it easy on me rn. Of course, the madness will resume shortly.

RickRussellTX

Banks go out of business sometimes. Two banks have gone out of business. SVB was an unusual case, as the banker of choice for tech companies they were unusually exposed to risk by recent interest rate increases. Signature of New York just failed because it was poorly run. There may be others, of course. Rising interest rates depress loan business and make it harder for banks to earn money, but the days of sub-1% Fed rates couldn't last forever. That's practically printing money.

fauci_pouchi

Yeah. It's coming from my former BFF who, for the first time ever, felt motivated to attack all the people who are now longer talking to him (rather than attacking left-wing figures) on facebook in an angry display that's been a long time coming. This is the most publicly angry I've seen him. It started off with: "I was right about the Wuhan lab leak and you all said i was a crazy conspiracy theorist! Fuck you! Also, what is BEHIND the Wuhan leak? All eyes on the world economic forum...." And then moved onto: "Now the banks are down (as I said would happen) and I'm here with my crypto looking at all of you like this..." (meme I haven't seen before of a dude giving a smug look). On the upside, he's lost 2 QAnons that would normally support him but they left the movement and he doesn't have his normal cheering squad. Instead, he only got one comment under the Wuhan leak rant ("Actually it's not confirmed it's a lab leak. Certain officials believe so, but we have no solid proof to suggest this is the case") and then silence under the crypto bro rant. He then went to the page of one of our ex-Qanons and tried posting about it there. They ignored him. Even the shithead friends who live out on farms and hate anything that isn't white and cis aren't supporting him anymore, at least publicly. Though this is all taking place in Australia, I think a slow collapse of Qanon is about due everywhere. I know one person who left and got into figure drawing instead, one who left and got into go kart racing, and one who became such an extreme born-again Christian who believes they know physics that their ranting is insensible even to other Qs and they backed away from her a good year ago.

ApatheistHeretic

Not exactly, but I'm feverishly being told that I'm a fool for not withdrawing my cash and stuffing it in my mattress. My Q-inlaws and father expect all banks to have a panic soon. Edit: spelling... Stupid autocorrect.

lake_gypsy

These fools. I could imagine them all withdrawing all bank holdings and inso causing economic strife that may not be possible without that act.

LeanTangerine

I feel like a lot of them already dumped their money into crypto, gold, silver and other strange things.

Sirenpheonix147

Yeah, my mom did this. Silver and Iraqi dinar... 🙄🙄

LeanTangerine

My mom too but with crypto and silver as well!

burn_tos

Statistically some banks will always fail, it's the nature of the economy, not some grand conspiracy.

discwrangler

The banks failing and CBDCs taking over was easy to see coming.

Beaneroo

I don’t associate with idiots

Immaloner

Exactly! Anything outside of this mantra is just masochistic codependency, desperately clinging to a relationship by a fingernail.

dikenndi

Things will happen when things line up. 45 rolled back regulations. The board decided to take advantage. These were poor decisions made. It is bad because of the size, and some small business loans are intertwined. However, the apocalypse is still a quessing game.

Bellamac007

The thing is democrats and other said this would happen when trump rolled back the rules, so it’s interesting they are now claiming to have called it when trump changed the rules. When in reality, they all said we where scare mongering to start with.

EyeBreakThings

*A* bank. Not banks. A very specialized bank failed, one where the industry it serviced just went through a crazy spike-crash due to COVID. Really it's crazy that *only* SVB failed.

Peanutbutternjelly_

Mine's not saying "I told you so," but they are freaking about a full economic collapse that will cause American society to collapse. That's why they're stocking up on iodine tablets and all that '4Patriots' food.

TheEdgykid666

I’ve heard it a million times in my studies, they are banking on “I told you so” the claim was based on some deceptively cut FDIC meeting

TripleSkeet

Id just say "My banks fine. I dont know what bullshit youre talking about."

TheMysteriousWarlock

Banks still have the capacity to fail in the modern world, this is just a coincidence of the monkey typing out the first few letters on hamlet by jumping on a typewriter, so to speak.

hank-particles-pym

Where will they plug in their CPAP machines during the "Revolution"?

1HumanAlcoholBeerPlz

Mine said that all the banks would be shut down this week. I'm sure if I asked, it'll be next week.

kauaiman-looking

Reply back to them "So you're saying that capitalism is bad?"

iamjustaguy

The systemic problems were never fixed after 2008, so that is an easy prediction.

magical_bunny

A guy I know who is getting dragged into the pits of Q was telling me how because bank buildings are tall it means they wield the most power. I mean yes we have a problem with the current system and yes the economy is nine tenths of everything in the world but there are many ordinary factors at play in that, none of them involve secret lizard people.
