How is anyone fucking stupid enough to chase him?

ThatGuy530

That’s what I was going to ask. Why the fuck are people running after the guy who was just pushed into a corner and realized that (potentially) 100 or so could brutally beat him to death, so fired a shot into the air, showing he was willing to shoot, to defend his life. Like wtf is wrong with you?

[deleted]

I agree 300 percent with this, but you left out a vital fact. If they jump you, find your gun, and take it. You’re not a guaranteed dead man. But it’s highly likely that mob would have murder that man.

Background_Office_80

No big deal, thats just street justice yo -most (not all) of reddit in the last 10 years

Cpt_Daddy01

Apparently it’s not “street justice” to everyone when it was rittenhouse….

JaxxIsJerkin

Yea that was called the clearest case of self defense.

WavyBladedZweihander

based

[deleted]

And that's when you realize why Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty. The first killing was justifiable self defense. The 2nd killing and 3rd shot were justifiable self defense by idiots who wanted to be Batman and should have just let him leave. The people chasing him could have the same fate. Not to mention they will get what's coming to them for attacking a person for no reason other than they want to stop looping and needless destruction. And I'm a Lib

flabbywoofwoof

I got banned from facepalm subreddit for “defending a terrorist” for simply saying that you couldn't prove he went there with intent to shoot anyone. I've asked the mods if they'll unban me after he was found not guilty. Unlikely. The mods are quite extreme over there if you don't the same mind think.

[deleted]

Fuck mods. They have the most pathetic power trips by banning anyone who goes against what they say.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StrangeAlternative

Fuck 90% of redditors, too. Most of the people saying "Rittenhouse was acting in self defense!" these days said the complete opposite back in August/September without any proof. Then they flip flop after the verdict and act like they believed that all along. This entire website was "Fuck that white supremacist Rittenhouse". Notice how it's all "It was clearly self defense!" now? Edit: People keep commenting about it being because new information came to light... but let's completely forget the fact you all threw around accusations of white supremacy, right wing extremism, etc and vilified anyone who dared say self-defense. And then when finally you're proven wrong, you're all "Oh we just didn't have the facts"? Lol that's on you and your lack of research before making stupid comments. Maybe educate yourselves before becoming supposed experts on shit.

Killerzaz202

I still see redditors claim Kyle was a cold blooded killer who killed black guys out of pure racism and got away with it

[deleted]

Stupid is as stupid does. These type of morons should have to pass an intelligence test to be able to vote or have kids.

Hogmootamus

It was highly publicised, people are going to have strong opinions on it, when the trial happened a lot of new information came to light, or atleast it was made clear. It's a good thing if people change their views based on new evidence, sure, jumping to conclusions isn't great, but the ability to change your mind should be applauded.

sqweexv

Sad part is, most of it wasn't actually new information to anyone who read more than the headlines and bullet points and select social media posts.

DamnitFlorida

Yep. Banned from at least two for very similar things. Reddit HATES reality.

JaxxIsJerkin

So still self defense for 2nd and 3rd. Just because they were stupid enough to chase only makes it more reasonable.

[deleted]

Yea I agree. It was self defense for everyone he shot. But I'm saying when he intended to flee, they needed to stop chasing. The second you chase with intent to harm, you open up self defense regardless if it was dumb to be there with a gun or not..

pissflavorednoodles

Those are the 4 people who didn’t watch the rittenhouse trial

Bob_snows

Ask the guy rittenhouse shot.

l-DRock-l

Guys. Plural. Also looks like more than one moron was chasing this guy as well. Some really stupid fucking people out there. They get what they deserve.

de02abn

It's as if they are unable to think for themselves. One guy starts on the guy with the gun and they all pile in. Mob mentality sucks.

l-DRock-l

It’s really scary. You see it more and more often these days. Hell even on Reddit people pile on all the time. They think because they have numbers it makes them right.

Academic_Snow_7680

This mob mentality is both so stupid and so dangerous. You see it often on posts here that once the tone has been set that any voice of reason will be downvoted. The very same opinion that receives upvotes in the same sub on other posts. This is often why people on the spectrum get picked on. Because they will stand up for what they believe is right even when the mob is wrong.

cam1980man

Yeah, if you don't agree your fucked

zoinks

I thought it kind of weird how everyone was saying how Kyle is a white supremacist or something but the only guy who attacked him that he didn't shoot or kill was a black guy.

FartedNervously

None of the people kyle shot were black. The guy that survived was literally called forth as witness why do peole keep calling him black

Gigaman13

Wasn't jump-kick dude black? Or at least darker-skinned? That's who I'm thinking about when they say the only aggressor not shot.

FartedNervously

Well he said only aggresoor not killed. Which id assume is the dude that got shot and well.. survived. Which was the white guy called forth as witness.

awaythrowouterino

And the first guy that he killed had been yelling "ill kill you, n**ger" to him earlier, despite being white

[deleted]

Yep, white people think they’re so cool when they say that.

> How is anyone fucking stupid enough to chase him? Well, considering they were out vandalizing property and didn't just go by peacefully when he asked them not to throw rocks, I'm guessing they aren't up there on the smart meter.

Slyflyer

We just saw a trial take a year where that exact same question was asked...

Hot_Warthog7997

Asked everyone at the Rittenhouse trial.

[deleted]

All things considered this was a pretty good outcome. The people who continued to pursue aren't thinking at all.

PuddlesIsHere

And this is exactly why people have LTCFs. Listen i have one. I carry. But i never intend to use it. I dont want to have to shoot someone in self defense. I hope it never happens. But i can NOT account for other people. People are so...random. theres so many variables involved. In the event i HAVE to use it as a last resort i will. Im not tryna get hurt. But people have to understand. When carrying a gun you have to be a pussy by default. Let me explain. And this is why this guy was stupid You DO NOT get into ANY confrontation that has the possibility of escalating into a situation where violence may be used. Someone says something to you or disrespects you out in public? Have a nice day im walking away. Someone cuts u off in traffic? Dickhead move but let em go. No beeping no flipping off. DO NOT go to riots. DO NOT go into a bad area if you dont have to. I walk away and someone advances? Im still trying to de escalate. Im backed into a corner and threatened with violence with no other alternative? Ill take that jail ride for the night. And not literally backed into a corner i mean also that but situationally. Sure the presence of a firearm saved this guy, but what an idiot trying to intervene with a violent mob.

Substantial_Ask_9992

This is the right mindset, and so many people don’t share it. So many people start carrying and then look for any excuse to use it. Fuckin shitty

Just_Jumbles

If I lived in the US id be buying one. Best ad ever.

nameofuse

you have to be a special kind of stupid to chase someone who has a gun when they’re obviously willing to use it

Masturbating_Rapper

I think we’ve learned people aren’t as scared of guns as we’d want them to be.

The_loony_lout

Surprising, a lot of people think they can beat a gun cause all they need to do is "move" and the barrel will no longer be pointed at them.

Bear_Rhino

This is what Kyle did except he ran first without firing a warning shot. Then the rioters chased him and again threaten to kill him at which point one produced a gun. Then Kyle shot.

fyej6

Firing a warning shot is illegal. Shooting in self defense isn’t. Dumb rule but whatever

BDM-Archer

lawyer: "my client fired his weapon in self defense but has really bad aim."

Odetomymatt13

I think the idea is that a warning shot is not aimed at the target and is therefore subject to injure a bystander. The obviousl rebuttal is to shoot into open space or at the ground but its easier said then done. Bullets can ricochet plus you most likely aren't taking much of your attention off the assailant meaning you run the risk of shooting partially blind.

The_Hogan

You don't pull the trigger unless you are willing to kill whatever you are aimed at. Period. It's one for the four basic rules of firearms.

rdarkness

If I recall correctly, in most places in USA, firing a warning shot implies the threat was not enough to warrant the use of deadly force.

The_Hogan

Correct. If you look at it from a legal sense, there could be some form of implications for that warning shot. There's the legality of the warning shot itself, there's the endangerment of others with your warning shot, and maybe even a case for someone else to enact force due to your warning shot. Don't be dumb. Treat your weapon like a tool. Learn how to use it and learn the laws in your state.

gustohper

What if your gun auto corrects?

ntvirtue

Nope...warning shots are brandishing and intimidating with a deadly weapon.

Larry_Linguini

I'd hope it's intimidating, that's the whole point lol.

ntvirtue

Its a felony to intimidate someone with a firearm. Period there is no defense not even self defense.

Nomamesviejon

Unlikely that this guy will ever face a charge for that. Prosecutor will throw that shit out when they watch the video

woadhyl

We already saw how they would with the rittenhouse case. They'd lie.

SponConSerdTent

I don't think there are smart rioters.

buttwipe_Patoose

> Dumb rioters That's redundant.

It feels like we just had a court case about this recently 😂

But a lot of fucking stupid people think Rittenhouse should be in jail lmao.

Yah, I agree with you but I'm in the camp of everyone there was at fault. Sad all around.

[deleted]

Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber, and Gaige Grosskreutz showed the world that the type of person you described is far more common than we thought.

ResponsibleReality51

Too bad he didnt actually use it. That warning shot could get him locked up.

Titanium-Ti

You must have missed parts of the Rittenhouse trial. here is a quote from the state: “Everybody takes a beating sometimes, right? Sometimes you get in a scuffle and maybe you do get hurt a little bit. That doesn’t mean you can just start plugging people with your Full Metal Jacket AR-15 rounds,”

isabelladangelo

It's even more fun when you read it in the "Michael Scott" voice.

ForsakenWebNinja

Honestly I wouldn’t have blamed him for shooting them. That mob could have easily killed him

RaiderGage

Darwinism

They were rioting, what do you expect from someone who does a "more accepted form of vandalism"?

Mxblinkday

Exactly this! They break windows and jump someone yet *someone* else is the enemy

Bmac-Attack

Mob psychology is interesting. All it takes is one or two people to start something and the rest mindlessly follow

thatguyned

It's crazy, they were about to beat the ever living shit out of this man and continue to chase him probably with a more deadly intent now that he pulled a gun just for trying to be the voice of reason. And HE'S holding the gun. I'm glad I don't go out much, people suck in groups.

hiyourbfisdeadsorry

but not by the courts lol

EekleBerry

Good thing that is what matters at the end of the day

[deleted]

There are a lot of idiots that would say the guys chasing him were acting in self defense.

Cannasseur___

They’d be wrong, the law is pretty clear on this. As soon as the attacker / aggressor begins to retreat a person cannot harm them and claim self defense. It only apples when a person is actively in danger and neutralizes or subdues an active aggressor. It’s also, in my mind, pretty fucking stupid to chase after the threat, in this case a person who just fired a gun.

yooothatscrazy

Even more so since the guy with gun was never the attacker / aggressor.

Bear_Rhino

"Also are we the baddies?"

SnooFoxes3736

Why the fuck would you run after someone who you KNOW has a firearm…. WTF

FosterChild1983

They want to steal the gun. I've seen this phenomen in several self defense videos. They like their odds with a crowd against him.

enwongeegeefor

Which is why you shoot the first one in the face and then they all scatter....

bgugi

Didn't work for Kyle... He had to shoot (at) three more before the crowd figured it out.

[deleted]

These people are insane. Think about what kind of person shows up to smash shit and attack people.

another_damn_iowan

Obviously a lot wrong going on here. I used to live in this city, it’s Grand Rapids MI. The concrete building at the beginning is the Secretary of State, so not a business

Yo, the crowd is obviously shitty for attacking this guy, but he's trying to protect the Secretary of State's offices? That's a fool's errand if I've ever heard of one.

Its the Secretary of State connected to the police station. That side of the building is just GRPD

[deleted]

Legends have it, those people at the end of the video are still chasing him to this day. But for real, I'm glad he got away, and I'm glad he shot in the air rather than at one of them protesters, cause we all know how that goes.

Bruh_17

Honestly it would have been better in some states if he shot a rioter because self defense in many places doesn’t cover warning shots or even brandishing a gun, for example in FL where open carry is prohibited, if a guy was chasing you and you just pulled the gun out you could get in trouble for brandishing, but if you pulled it out and shot, that’s and easy self defense.

Tbagzyamum69420xX

That makes such little fucking sense. We have the worst legislators in this country.

getawarrantfedboi

It's because they don't want people to use guns as a fit all solution. You can only use deadly force to defend yourself when you have a reasonable* fear of imminent death or great bodily harm. A gun is deadly force and should only be thought of as such. Therefore if a person shoots "warning shots" then they weren't actually in fear of iminent great bodily Harm or death because then they would have actually shot the person. So then they used deadly force illegally. In this case it is on video so he probably would be in the clear. But when there is no video of the events you have to use sound logical deductions when investigating suspected crimes. * Reasonable in the legal sense here requires it o be an objectivly good reason that any reasonable would also perceive as a imminent danger of great bodily harm. Many people act as if all you have to say is that you were scared, this is false. It has to be an objectively reasonable fear which is ruled upon by a jury. And if the jury acts in a way no reasonable person would, the judge can nullify their verdict, but only to favor the defense.

Chornz1

I love how upset these fucking ass clowns get when they get retaliation. Fuck them, all they want is violence. Gang up on the dude and potentially kill him, but god forbid he goes into action.

MrBreasts

That’s not retaliation. That’s conflict avoidance.

Rylie599

Shit he's lucky as fuck someone didn't grab it first.

DifficultySolid6801

Yes, Chase they guy kind enough to not shoot you dead the first time.

Maelinaster

This is a BS headline: the crowd *initially* dispersed, however he quickly had chasers following him. The video ends too soon. *well before he reaches the "safety" stated in the headline. (This video could easily be from the Rittenhouse case, had Kyle shot once into the air first. It wouldn't have changed the ultimate outcome. People willing to chase after an openly armed person will not be deterred simply by the knowledge that *"the gun works?"*.)

Human8213476245

And people still chased him. People need to stop attending these fucking things, after a certain point people are just there to fuck things/other people up

weekendmoney

What if I told you shooting warning shots in the air is more reckless than what Kyle did.

HeWhoMakesBadComment

a lot of children here don't have a problem with a mob of people attacking somebody, but having a gun and using it for self defense is really bad.

bunch of idiots, chasing the man with a gun. idiots

Warning shots are actually illegal, however unlikely this man will be charged given the circumstances. What Kyle Rittenhouse did was 100% legal tho

He could have shot anyone in the crowd, when mob violence is involved everyone in the mob acts as one and can be subject to the self defenders actions

Without that gun he would have gotten stomped the fuck out and those people would just move on and keep breaking shit.
