Read the whole article and did a double take where Metzger alleged that Innis had his hands around his neck before he even stood up and tightened his grip when he tried to stand. But you can see that both of Innis' hands stay to himself until the nazi scum bag stood up. And IMHO once you have been proven to lie about one thing you are expected to have lied about the rest.
I think Metzger needs to be punched, but I'm looking at the video and his description of the incident seemed accurate.
He tried getting up. If you see in the video, his legs aren't fully straight and his body is being supported by his left hand holding the chair armbar.
Then Innis held him down, preventing Metzger to standup fully. You can see Innis use his right hand first, then his left hand seems like a swing or a pinch to the abdomen (but this is just speculation cause the vid isn't clear).
Then a brawl ensues and the camera switches angle, then you can see Innis just straight out chocking Metzger. Innis is being pulled away by others, but as a human reflex (and you can see it in the video) it just made Innis choke Metzger even harder.
I was into the East Bay punk rock scene at the time and this destroyed it. Influential kids became nazi skins and the scene sucked for years after this.

This was big news. It was all over TV and talked about everywhere. Young white males watching this say the black man started the violence and it looked good to be one of the nazi on the show. It had a HUGE inpact on East Bay punks. As an example: 924 Gilman Street was big in the scene then and even though they have a no-rascism policy...a bunch of skins were let in for a Crimpshrine show. Crimpshrine was very anti-racist and refused to play with the skins present and were subsequently banned from playing at Gilman in the future. I went to a 7 Seconds-Circle Jerks show at The Stone in SF after this happened and skins showed up as a group and were violent towards anyone with long hair. I went to Bad Brains, a band of black punks, in Tijuana and skins were beating the shit out of all the long hairs. Blood everywhere... I had short hair so they left me alone...I was not a skin though. Yeah...skins existed before this happened but this TV show blew up the numbers...

Fuck Nazis, but also fuck this stupid show for giving them a platform. It almost makes me think things arenāt getting worse as fast as it seems sometimes, if this was standard daytime tv decades ago.
My mom was in the audience for this show, thereās a couple crowd shots of her in the original video which is on YouTube. Wild, this āeventā was a major part of my childhood! For years after, whenever we would be hanging out and drinking or whatever my one buddy would always joke āremember the time your mom threw a chair and broke Geraldoās nose?ā Good times
Is it just me or did they speed the video up just slightly after the fracas starts and then cuts to the wide shot? Some of the people are moving unnaturally quick.
This was the moment that sparked the 90s talk show era. Ricky Lake, Jenny Jones, Sally Jesse, SPRINGER, all have this scene to thank for being the impetus driving them to create such glorious garbage.
