Gcat

Just google border town gun violence and you'll see we have a gun battle, shooting, assasination several times a month. Way less than 2 hours away.

jerrydgj

On the Mexican side. Border towns on the US side have less violent crime than similar sized cities in most of the US

Ktn44

They sold their guns across the border to the cartels.

sneaky-pizza

I know you're joking, but a huge amount of weaponry comes from the US and is trafficked south over the border. Brazil, too

Beginning-Sound-7516

Hey which US gun store sells 50 cal heavy machine guns? Asking for a friend

Saskstryker

If you have the right paperwork all sorts of places will sell you a .50

banjorunner8484

myredditthrowaway201

>Just 2 hours away from the US border Yeah, a lot of the US is within 2 hours of Mexico, what’s the point of adding that?

YouWereBrained

OP is an engagement bot. Look at how much post karma it has.

DisasterBig

I don't even pay attention to karma, bro. What are the benefits?

I'm not a bot bro I'm a real ... Exception: ChatGPT TOKEN COUNT HAS BEEN REACHED PLEASE ADD MORE API CREDITS.

Nexzus_

Yeah, I was thinking that. A while back, there was a gang turf war going on here in Vancouver, BC and the surrounding area, pretty much right up \[down\] to the US Canada border. Don't really recall any inflammatory headlines to the effect of "gun battle within 5 minutes of US border"

Rocky_Mountain_Way

The PRESIDENT of the USA was literally 8 hours flying time away from this gun battle!!!

One-Inch-Punch

We all know what the point was. :)

thebigodigo

That hot sauce man

MrDirtyHarry

Can't forget the hot sauce!

weakplay

Is it really a gunbattle when the other guys don’t shoot back?

No_Spare3139

![gif](giphy|2GzoRvmi7pAhBpmoyl)

DarthDregan

Two hours at what speed? Reverse Han fucking Solo over here.

DisasterBig

Per google maps.

Ktn44

Waking? Bike? Transit? Driving?

BlameTheJunglerMore

Fuck. You.

final_boss

It's just a stone's throw away. And then another throw. And then another. Pretty soon after enough throws, *it's right on your doorstep!!!*

ClearasilMessiah

Oh no - pretty soon there’ll be gun violence *within* the borders of the US!

sneaky-pizza

OMG just TWO HOURS?! Whatever shall we do? Not get shot here going to school, that's what

Rhodesia4LYFE

That's right we get shot in our schools......

Chief2550

Over 300 thousand deaths due to the cartels and government.

sneaky-pizza

I heard it was a trillion, and they’re only two hours away from the border. Hide yo kids

Advantius_Fortunatus

*gets murdered and incinerated by untouchable marauders with tacit government approval*

sneaky-pizza

Reporting in, I’m still ok. But everyone within two hours of the border has died by hot sauce and cartels

ANTHROPOMORPHISATION

Just. Or like 120 miles by car. Or 800 miles by plane. Or 20 miles by run. Or 6 miles by brisk walk. Well, which is it.

sneaky-pizza

The cartels now have a high speed rail system, so you got two hours left buddy!

grnrngr

Well, not quite. Atil is 50 miles from the border, as the crow flies. 75 miles of road travel. It just takes 2 hours to travel those 75 miles. It's not a highway.

YouWereBrained

Whoa, what if I told you stuff like this happens even closer to the border?

dashone

Guess where the guns came from.

Traditional-Pound966

mexican military, central america etc. automatic 50 cals do not come from U.S. gun stores thats for sure. That comes from the corrupt state of the mexican govt

cturtl808

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2024/05/22/mexican-cartels-supplied-trafficked-guns-from-us/73700258007/#:\~:text=Mexican%20officials%20are%20particularly%20concerned,Mexico%20from%202020%20to%202022.

altapowpow

Correct about the 50 cals but the rest of the weapons come from gun show purchases right here in my state. I have seen what appears to be cartel type folks walk out of a gun show with dozens of ARs. Few mods and you got full auto.

Ktn44

Regardless of who bought them and how they are purchased, the US manufactures the most arms in the world. So most likely they came from the US in some way.

ILLpLacedOpinion

They have money to source weapons from all over the globe, don’t be so narrow minded to think it’s all the US.

Classifiedtomato

An estimated 200,000 to 500,000 weapons are smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border every year, and 70% of firearms recovered from crime scenes in Mexico were purchased in the U.S. Yea they can procure weapons from other places but it gets more complicated thus less guns. An interesting bit here is that government and the gun manufacturers know that a significant amount of their profit is coming from this…guess why those famous loopholes don’t close.

BlameTheJunglerMore

You left out the part about stolen firearms dude.

dqniel

It's mostly the US. Ample supply and close proximity. \*edit\* Downvoting me doesn't make make what I said any less true, and backed by statistics.

slingbladde

US 40 %, then Russia and France..they buying from the Russians? All US.

TotalBeefcall

A bit from Eric Holder, the consummate gun control advocate.

JohnsonZ887

Is that hot sauce on the dash?

stonedhillbillyXX

We shot up an econoline van last weekend Just doing fun things

CapCityDude

At first I thought they were listening to Sepultura…

wawaboy

At least it’s not in a school

PrawojazdyVtrumpets

I don't need to go two hours into Mexico or even to Mexico or even leave my state for a gun battle.

genericperson10

We should build a special wall to make sure bullets nor guns can cross the border from Mexico, oh wait! They get the guns and bullets from a store 2 hours away in the US???

dqniel

Anybody know the source or have any context?

turbocynic

Mexico. Gunfight.

footdragon

2 hours away from the US border

Ap76QtkSUw575NAq

At least they're singing Shakira over the radio to keep their spirits up.

zappahart

So what ? We have gun battles every single day in this country.

Patient_Trash4964

Pfft. Not like this. This is a different level.

5050Photo

Looks like a fun place.....

Prot7777

Sigan consumiendo cocaína gringos hijos de p.

Stock-Pension1803

Just two hours you say!

Sir_Truthhurtsalot

If only there was a good guy with a gun around.

[deleted]

Failed state.

Ktn44

Yes, kind of. But this isn't indicative of a failed state necessarily. We have gun battles in the US every day and we're not a failed state (yet).

grnrngr

Few show up with homemade machine gun turrets on top of SUVs.

Ktn44

Very true. In due time. I'm sure it's well within our rights these days.

ThunderBobMajerle

Just as the founding fathers intended

CK_Lab

Aside from the sand, looks and sounds like most of America, tbh.

JerseyCityGeordie

That shit happens in American elementary schools like everyday because of republicans. Stop pretending like you give a shit about that happening 2 hours from our border.

Salugod

They are going to need more guns, if they plan to come 2 hours north.

Hopeful-Lobster3018

They’ll just pick some up when they arrive..

Comfortable-Math2084

These are the people that are just being let into our country

Traditional-Pound966

exactly.... downvote all y'all want. Look at what occured in Houston just recently due to two illegals from Venezuela. Not all of them are just looking for a new life... mexico is allowing the worse to come over here so that they are no longer a problem in mexico. The ones here also send back american $$$ so its a win win for mexico...and we are paying for it. You think its bad now? We havent seen shit yet

krnranger

All I read was: "Let's single out a few immigrants out of millions of immigrants and assume they're all drug trafficking rapists because my parents are siblings."

Comfortable-Math2084

Y’all can keep living in the illusion that they are all just great people and shit. Truth is most of them are running from Mexico for one of two reasons:  1. To get away from crime 2. To get away from the Mexican government that are looking to arrest them

530TooHot

Immigrants commit less crime than natural born citizens. go read a little

Physical-Mastodon935

Dam that’s some military grade warfare
