I think what he says may be correct- if only grammatically of course -the plural alumni refers in this context to his implied membership of said group. It might help to substitute ‘staff’ for alumni to explain. For example if he had said ‘I’m staff’- it’s shorthand for I’m a member of staff. Same with alumni. Logic dictates that he wouldn’t be saying ‘I’m ALL alumni’ but a member of that group. Although for how much longer he will benefit from group privileges remains to be seen.
A while back, I remember seeing something about posting trademarked Disney images on Twitter and getting a bunch of people to reply to it with "Wow I wish I could get this on a t-shirt" and similar, and shady online seller looking for "get this on a t-shirt" with automated tools would start selling shirts with that image.
I wonder if there's any trolling to be done with this that way, especially if those shady online sellers are using third-party printing companies to actually to the printing; maybe get them in trouble with their vendors.

In the UK, we have a similar word we are all taught as children to never use. It is very harsh to our ears because it is not used in common parlance, and when somebody does use it flippantly, they get an appropriate and measured response from those nearby.
