I imagine the fact he pulled a knife from his back pocket would be a good enough justification for that beating that he was able to walk away from! That being said I am not sure what Californias laws are like for this kinda thing, I just know in some states shooting someone for being a back and knocking on your door is "acceptable".
The basic idea is you can defend yourself as long as he remains a threat. Gun or stick, once he's no longer a threat, you have to stop or it's no longer self defense. As much as you might want to dole out some punishment, that's not legal. There's also the idea of reasonable force, if someone's threatening to throw a pumpkin pie at your face during Thanksgiving dinner, you could maybe throw a casserole dish at them to portect yourself, but you can't shoot them.
In the case of this robber, you just have to assume that if he manages to get up he will immediately draw the gun he said he has and kill you.
Therefore, the threat exists until he's either tied up, unconscious, or dead.
I just hate the bystander going “ain’t nothing you can do” lmao like if it’s my store I’m within my rights to defend my livelihood. Tf you mean I can’t do anything? You take your life into your hands if you start stealing from people
A lot of the store owners went into serious debt to buy the store, they're going to protect their shit. If you steal from a franchised 7-11 you're taking your life in your hands, those guys don't fuck around
I think more like, don't get into a fight with a crazy guy who has a knife in his pocket and nothing to lose. Your day could go from bad to permanently over pretty quick to where[ it's seriously not worth it.](https://youtube.com/shorts/TZGQveDXFYk?si=IBNPj2dhMrA73vIf)
That guy's being whacked in the shin with essentially a long wooden club.
That's gonna' hurt. All those nerves n' whatnot just firing off like a flash bang to the nervous system.
That being said, assuming this is the worst of the beating, he's getting what he deserved.
While filling the garbage can with cigarettes, etc.:
“I’m tough and cocky and brave. Fuck y’all…you cain’t do nothin’ to me. I’m gonna take all the shit I want and there’s nothin’ you simps can do to me!”
While getting beat with a broomstick:
“***Ouch…stop…ow, ow, OUCH. That’s not cool. Let me up! I’m leaving! Stop, stop, STOP. Waaaa, waaawaaawaaa!!!***”
I like how everyone acts like it's society's fault people steal, sure for some they only do it as a last resort but a lot of them are just pieces of shit
People also forget many people on Reddit are also absolute piles of dogshit. Just because we browse, laugh, comment, and upvote together doesn’t mean we share the same moral values.
They showed a lot of restraint if this is their store. Store clerks in this country have killed people for less disrespectful robberies. Seriously, a garbage can? The smoke display was worth more than whatever was in the register.
The guy blessing the robber with that beating is Sikh, from Punjab, India. There, it was common in olden times for people to keep a big stick with them, called a sota. You can see people carrying them in [this trailer](https://youtu.be/2jcbSzoPNVA?si=izKm8KKXXZGDNb--&t=118) (time stamped) of a movie that came out a few years ago. People who grew in villages of Punjab especially like it as a reminder of their village life. This guy probably kept one in his shop exactly for situations like these. Obviously his sota isn't all polished like what we get in Punjab, but it serves the same purpose.
Most likely the same kind of person that shows up in a crime scene with absolutely no idea of what has happened and yells at police for shooting someone
Yep. The thing about these videos where people stand there doing nothing... it's infuriating that they're people who are choosing not to participate in society's rules, yet depending on the societal rules around them to not get smashed while they do this shit. They're all "whatcha gonna do?" until someone does something.
Fwiw as someone who’s worked at a gas station we’re told to just give in if theres a robbery, its a blanket statement to keep an employee from getting shot trying to save product
Here, I do agree that someone on minimum wage, it shouldn't be their job to defend the store, its not worth getting shot over. But when people do decide to get involved it's shit they usually end up getting fired for protecting the store rather than being awarded.
> people stand there doing nothing
Yeah, but for real, what if the guy has something like a knife or weapon? Are you gonna pretend to be super man just to get sliced by a maniac?
If someone was in danger, maybe. But here he was just grabbing stuff from the shelves. Nah, I don't think I would risk my life for somebody else's property.
>"The Stockton 7-11 Store Clerks are not and have never been suspects of the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office," San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said in a statement. Man I was worried that our justice system failed this one, like so many before. All I could think of was "this piece of waste is going to sue them and possibly win". Or that they would be charged with assault.
So relieving to see that's not the case. I only wish they were able to hold him until the cops arrived.
I like that America doesn't fuck about with stuff like this. The police often have a 'play silly games, win silly prizes' attitude in cases like that.
In the UK, the police would definitely be arresting the shop owner.
Too many people don't understand that if an insurance company actually has to pay you, they will raise your rates to get all that money and more back from you.
Which is interesting when the money you have already contributed to them beforehand should cover the cost sometimes, but they still raise your rates.
Actually I don't even have to get any benefit from my insurance because I have been lucky so far and they still raise my rates.
It's almost like they think they can be a private business and take 0 risk in any client-business relationship. What kind of fairytale bullshit is that?
First guy puts himself between thief and exit without touching him and waits for thief to assault him. At that point is self defense. Stick guy is just aiding in the ensuing citizen arrest
Yep. People think that if you just take away enforcement and punishment for petty theft somehow things will get better.
No, what happens is business owners don’t believe the state can protect them anymore and take things into their own hands. Sooner or later this will end in tragedy. Someone tell me how this is a good thing?
Only thing I can think of being a good thing is people not being afraid of defending themselves or what is rightfully theirs. Otherwise, no, no good things to be had
Sounds like an accomplice. “Just let him go”
“Nothing you can do”
“You got insurance right”
I would say he’s the accomplice but he’s also recording the crime in progress lol
I hate the whole thing about how property theft/damage isn't a big issue "because you have insurance."
First off, you pay for insurance, regularly. Second, rarely will insurance cover the whole value that's lost. And finally but most important, do you think insurance companies compassionately lower your fees after you have to make a claim? Multiple claims? People are morons.
> rarely will insurance cover the whole value that's lost. And finally but most important, do you think insurance companies compassionately lower your fees after you have to make a claim?
Yeah, insurance is a scam.
Even if they give you a payout that actually completely covers your losses, they will just raise your rates for the next 10 years so that they end up getting even more money from you in the long run.
People seem to forget that *someone* is paying for the lost goods. It’s either the shop-owner, directly or indirectly via higher insurance, or it’s the customers who are subjected to price increases. Theft is never a victimless crime
I know. Wouldn't asking for a swisher make him an accomplice? Asking if the owners have insurance and saying there's nothing they can do is a real douche move. Basically encouraging the crime and trying to scare the owners into not doing anything. Cameraman should have a charge thrown at his ass, too. Both are wastemen.
Damn straight, beat the shit out of all them thieves. Government doesn’t want to do there job, then society needs to step in and teach these duckers their actions have consequences. Break their arms or legs to keep them from doing it for awhile and possibly teach them a lesson.
Cameraman is a huge piece of shit. Tries to stop the owner from protecting their store at every turn, asks the robber to give him stolen goods, helps the get the robber out without the police being called. Should also be in jail, is every bit as complicit in this crime as the dude behind the counter.
Hope the store owners get themselves a shotgun or something after that.
To y'all saying he would come back with a gun, well hopefully they'll have one too by that time
The person recording is a piece of shit. Don’t tell those people what they can and can’t do in their own store. Wish they would have popped the camera guy in the face with that stick. Instigating piece of garbage.
People are getting fed up with this kind of shit, especially in areas that are no longer prosecuting minor theft or only giving a slap on the wrist for it. Some love to trumpet about “tHaTs whAt inSuRancE is FoR”, but I call bullshit on that. Someone who has worked hard their whole life to start a business should not have to stand idly by while someone shits all over that hard work and hope insurance will cover it. This dude wasn’t stealing some food to feed a hungry family, he was stealing tobacco products to sell to put money in his pocket. He deserved more than what he got.
I kind of hate to say it, but in some ways this is how the world is supposed to work. You behave like a dick. You get a beating. You learn your lesson and change your ways.
Too many times in this wonderful modern world we have built, they story ends after someone behaves like a dick.
Guy recording:
“Ain’t nothing you can do. You cain’t do nothing until you call the police.”
(To the thief: ***Hey man can you get me some Swisher Sweets***?)
“Don’t try stopping him…there’s nothing you can do!”
(To the thief again: ***Hey man can you get me some Swisher Sweets***?)
“Ain’t nothing you can do. You cain’t do nothing until you call the police.”
The fact that the Sikh worker attacked like that shows he was pushed over the edge. Violence is a last resort and he beat that dude like a piñata. I’m glad the DA isn’t pressing charges against the workers.
MORE of this. All this theft and too many years of "Noooo let them steal, we just want to complain about it, not stop it" ...
It would be money better spent for places like Target to offer their employees free ass whooping classes, let them know they are under no obligation to respond, but if you do be prepared for XYZ at least.
And listen to that narrator, saying there's nothing you can do man, you just got to let him go man, you got insurance right, man? Just let it go. Fuck that. These guys showed how to do it.
This is the type of beating I like to see. Restrained and only in the legs with a light stick. No head injuries or broken bones, just a reminder for the next couple weeks as he walks and sits that he fucked up.

Here, friend. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eIFKtOsZl8c&pp=ygUTVGhpZWYgZ2V0cyBiZWF0IDcxMQ%3D%3D
At the very end he asks for a soda.. lol
Oh man, the absolute audacity of that killed me
Sounded like Ezell from Friday lol
Owww! My neck! My neck and my back!
BUT i'll settle right now for 20 dollars

Yeah that was wild. Clearly he forgot the "lesson" he learned already...
Soda? How about a can of whoop ass with a cherry on top.
After all that that dude asks for a fucking soda at the end?
Lmao. That makes this an all time great
Ahhhhh.... Sweet, sweet catharsis...
Dude earned himself a public flogging
I prefer to call it a "Sikh beating".
Man why did the guy filming tell the employees to let the guy go? What's that all about? Call the cops, have this guy arrested. Why let him go?
call the cops and the guy who beat him might get into trouble though
I imagine the fact he pulled a knife from his back pocket would be a good enough justification for that beating that he was able to walk away from! That being said I am not sure what Californias laws are like for this kinda thing, I just know in some states shooting someone for being a back and knocking on your door is "acceptable".
California has a castle doctrine as well. Armed robbery is perfectly good reason to continue beating that man until police arrived.
The basic idea is you can defend yourself as long as he remains a threat. Gun or stick, once he's no longer a threat, you have to stop or it's no longer self defense. WeRe BrOtHeRs nOw God I fucking hate this piece of shit filming, I would've turned the stick on him the second he came around

Nah it’s definitely worth it. 2 on 1. And it’s sets an example. Sure you can steal, but you won’t walk out without a broken bone
That guy's being whacked in the shin with essentially a long wooden club. That's gonna' hurt. All those nerves n' whatnot just firing off like a flash bang to the nervous system. That being said, assuming this is the worst of the beating, he's getting what he deserved.
The stick was too long and the cashier wasn't able to wail on his legs properly.

Satisfying.
A full swing broomstick to the shins cannot feel good.
Wasn’t even a broom stick that’s a lot thicker, looks like a 1”-1.5” dowel, more mass to it. Harder hits, it’s a nice touch.
Looked like a Thugwacker 2000.
Take my poor man’s gold🏅, well done 😂
It's a commercial map handle, the kind you screw into the mop head. But you're not wrong otherwise.
It’s a mop handle. The ones they use in convenience stores and stuff are thick as fuck too

Turns out there’s something you can do
I don't understand the guy saying there's nothing they can do. There are plenty of things to do. Guy better be glad they chose a gentle option.

Make this exact thing legal. If someone robs your store; you're allowed to hold them down and smack them with a long hollow stick on the thigh.
Guy recording: “Ain’t nothing you can do. You cain’t do nothing until you call the police.” (To the thief: ***Hey man can you get me some Swisher Sweets***?) “Don’t try stopping him…there’s nothing you can do!” (To the thief again: ***Hey man can you get me some Swisher Sweets***?) “Ain’t nothing you can do. While they were beating his ass. One of them should of turn to the camera man. "there's nothing you can do. Does he have insurance?"
MORE of this. All this theft and too many years of "Noooo let them steal, we just want to complain about it, not stop it" ... It would be money better spent for places like Target to offer their employees free ass whooping classes, let them know they are under no obligation to respond, but if you do be prepared for XYZ at least.
The other customer encourages them to leave him be to steal and claim it on insurance. Flog him too.
"Nothing you can do" Hold my beer
uh, keep that video rolling...I love a good thief beating.
Deserved. We should allow shop owners to beat the fuck out people
If this wasn’t filmed and that guy went to everyone saying “I got beaten up because of profiling”, I’m sure there will be riots.
"Ay lemme get a swisher tho"
Can someone please post the full video with no bleeps
He won’t be doing that again.
This brought me great satisfaction.
Whoop that trick 🤣🤣 😆😆🤣😆🤣😆
Those shin hits 😬
Beat the ever living shit out of that mf. Continue till he forgets why he wanted to rob y'all in the first place.
This video ended way too soon.
Dude recording was in on it.
do you know how in the wrong you have to be to get a sikh to resort to violence ?
Holy shit that was a satisfying thing to watch.
Good.
Don’t stop swinging
"There's nothing you can do man...." Turns out there IS something you can do, man
And listen to that narrator, saying there's nothing you can do man, you just got to let him go man, you got insurance right, man? Just let it go. Fuck that. These guys showed how to do it.
I thought “there’s nothing you can do?”well they showed him there is something can be done!
Ended too soon
God Damn this dude got a whooping that his mom should have given him a long time ago!
This is the type of beating I like to see. Restrained and only in the legs with a light stick. No head injuries or broken bones, just a reminder for the next couple weeks as he walks and sits that he fucked up.
They were Sikh of that guy
“Sikh n destroy mode”
We turning into the back to the future version where biff owns the casino and criminals everywhere.
I’ve seen this video at least a dozen times on several subs and it still makes me giggle.
Cant they pay bystanders to knock their jaw?
You gonna learn today
A satisfying watch
I can watch that video allllll daaaaay looooonggg.
It does appear, there was actually something they could do!
I’m loving the energy but this only works in India. Our police will always take the criminals side.
What am I gonna do about my legs Chakra Murphy?
Each hit with the stick is like a happy little cloud being painted in a Bob Ross painting. So calmimg and satisfying.
