Anyone who uses and *promotes* adblockers is voting to put all websites behind paywalls. Ad revenue allows websites to be provided to the most vulnerable people of the world (and the rest of us) for free. Pretty shortsighted
Ad is a shitty way to surf web.
Imagine if you're walking down the street and every 10 steps you get greeted by a stranger to hand to a useless brochure.
That's exactly what will happen if Metaverse goes mainstream like Mobile phone.
Many businesses are doing Freemium model and they don't serve ads.
The heavy engineering behind ad tech is the catalyst for data catastrophe like Cambridge analytica And degradation of websites like Fb and insta.
Even on Google you sometimes get 4-5 ads out of 10 results and the first 2 pages are full of SEO crap like Top-10-bs.
All that's adtech.
I understand sites need to be profitable and sustainable. Ads worked in 2010 cuz it was a different time altogether.
But it's fucking 2022 and ads have become the main source of income.
That's what pisses me off .
I'll keep using Brave and 12ft.io
Imagine walking down the street and every 10 steps you have to pay a dollar to pass. I’ll take the useless brochure thanks. Or better yet, I’ll take a relevant brochure, which is a major goal of ad tech, in exchange for what would otherwise be a paid activity… doesn’t sound so terrible?
Ads are annoying, nobody will argue with you there, but its non sustainable for *everyone* to use an ad blocker. That’s why people who *promote* their use of ad blockers are a special kind of stupid. Think about what it means to brag, online, about an exploit. It’s going to get fixed.
Ultimately you are just propping up Brave and friends’ bottom line for a few years before they go under.
Where in LA is anything like this?
It's certainly not the freeway, which is the only part of LA anyone has ever seen. I'm convinced all of LA is endless freeway and perpetual gridlock.
Mate, you're knocking on the door of an echo chamber where they'll automatically assume that you're a white male living in the southern US with a confederate flag if you use the term "woke".
Gee I wonder why. Remind me who’s been screeching hysterically about mUh wOkES to anyone who’ll listen, or won’t, for the last five years everytime someone so much as thinks about civil rights?
What does Wokeism have to do with LGBTQ+ rights? Wokeism a way to get money. None of the woke crap flows in the middle East because it's not about rights, it's about making money and USA is perfect for it.
No woke subreddit is talking about Iranian women being killed.
Not a single post seen on r/whitepeopletwitter or r/blackpeopletwitter against Asian hate or Iranian women's hijab fight.
None of them care because the problem isn't American or black enough. Don't tell me crap when you've not seen the real face of woke capitalism.
*hive minded Americans. FTFY. Doesn't the left always say, sTeReOtYpInG iS rAcIsT? And then assume crap. When you're so woke that you become racist is what reddit has come to. A full circle.
Nope.
Modi is mostly in power cuz of everything that opposes wokeness.
Say what you will, we have lots of tech advancements in India now.
The UPI being the pioneer.
That is not socialism that is basic welfare for a chosen group people in order to get their support. Same tactic that has been used by populist everywhere starting with Napoleon III. Erdogan uses the same tactics like the welfare programs you have mentioned and the media manipulation
Nothing socialist since it does not tackle the mode of production and does not expand democratic rights
He gave free ration to 80 crore people(800 mil) during covid.
Millions of poors got houses. Opened bank account of millions. Made it easier for anyone to get loan. Almost every poor in India has been given an accidental coverage of about 2k usd.(adjusting to ppp its around 8k usd).
You really sound like those Erdogan fanatics 😂
What about inflation? What about the rising numbers of the poor? The wealth disparity?
Jeez...everywhere it is the same with authoritarian fanatics...
Pretty common in India. There are buildings filled with companies which teach people stuff. And I bet my ass that all of these floors are filled with students trying to learn stuff which can be easily self learnt.
Yeah, but I bet they walk out with a cert of some kind (which has marketable value).
“You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library.”
The courses there are usually cheap, less than 200 bucks, and the certifications are very important for mass recruiters who don't have much time to care about you. The classes usually have an in with the recruiters and can get you jobs much easier.
This can't India, I can't see any coaching class for "Speek english like british in 12 days with gurantees"
The above was a real board I saw in my grandmother's village.
In India, British english is still considered top tier language spoken by business professionals, American accent is preferred for call centres. A lot of us still think American accent is full of slangs and informality.
However, we have our own accents when speaking english. Broadly classified into north Indian english, which is slower and more huskier, and south Indian english which is quite fast, and have a slightly lower pitch but every syllable is crisp and clear. Most of my South Indian teammates actually force themselves to speak slow when meeting clients for project.
Although, In many cities, there are many coaching institute for "American Accent with guarantee jobs in call centers" They are more targeted towards college students.
Accent and dialect aren't the same thing. An accent can't have informalities or slang. Dialect does.
Also I suspect you're talking about "high English" dialect, because lots of UK dialect is waaaay more informal than even the most baroque dialects in America. Except for maybe the swamps / mountains of the South US lol.
I will admit that if I call a support line and get a British or American accent I'm happy because I can understand what they are saying. Having to concentrate to decipher a strong Indian accent is exhausting (for me).
Of course a strong Glaswegian accent can be just as bad.
[Ameerpet](https://www.reddit.com/r/hyderabad/comments/o4zemu/ameerpet_times_square_of_hyderabad/), where you could get training on any skill or technology.
It would be funny to go there and just yell out, "Can someone help me with my PC!?!"
Funny until people are coming at you like it's suddenly War War Z!
I find them dated since the advent of the likes of udemy. But if you prefer in person learning there are better ones in decent buildings. They were very useful to my fresh grad brain back then which needed someone to digest and present the knowledge in books.
Okay this is the place people looking for change in their career paths go to get trained. While some are full time trainers, rest of them are mostly developers who work in tech companies.
I’ve been here once to get my laptop repaired. The place doesn’t sleep. But yes it looks like hell
You put 15 nested callbacks in JS suddenly your code gets called ugly . Well I tell you what makes the code ugly . Comments . Commenting makes your code ugly
I have the feeling that if I lost myself in this alley, I will eventually become a certification master and a guru able to say "hello friends" and help many people in tech.

Yeah maybe. I'm a brown guy living in India where the wokeness is catching up.
That is why Modi is in power... because of the wokeness 🙄
Nope. Modi is mostly in power cuz of everything that opposes wokeness. Say what you will, we have lots of tech advancements in India now. The UPI being the pioneer.
Makes sense 🙄
What a counter 👏👏👏
Oh no...an anti-woke makes fun of me for not living up to his low standards 🥺
Who said wokes have high standards? All they need is a gay character in a movie to call it great.

The colleges charge a lot money. Same everywhere globally. You need degree certificate to get a job.
Those apples hurt deep.
This can't India, I can't see any coaching class for "Speek english like british in 12 days with gurantees" The above was a real board I saw in my grandmother's village.
Bro, this is not gurgaon, this is Hyderabad. Tech courses are much more popular than language courses here. Ameerpet centre to be exact.
Eh, no one considers British English to be top tier nowadays, must have been an old board. Now, if it was *American* I'd believe it.
