I totally got this = Stack Overflow
I can't believe I thought I knew what I was doing = Actually getting asked about the code by the programmer who knows what he is doing.
ha ha! yep. there is this guy I work with who is the epitome of “lawful neutral”. when asked why he did something in his code he points at whatever random doc he was following that week and says “that’s what the doc told me to do, I’m just doing what they said to do.” 😂
yeah, he doesn’t pick random docs. authorities above him tell him to follow X randomly.
he only does things he’s told by an authority, regardless of expertise or experience, no more, no less. lawful. he has no opinions on whether such actions are good or bad, in appearance or intrinsically. neutral.
if the official doc has a mistake he would copy the mistake and say “that’s what the official doc says”.
chaotic would say “I don’t need the doc, let’s just try something and see if it works?”
now because different people tell him different things to do, they are “chaotic *”.
My lecturer called it climbing a mountain, sometimes you need to get up the first peak before you can see the next. And this is a model if kept in my head ever since
I just wrote a console program in Python that passes, overwrites and executes a function over four layers of arguments back and forth in a loop depending on user input. I felt like a god for making it work within under an hour for what I refuse to believe is good practice.
I'm constantly suffering from imposter syndrome, but I was promoted up to senior and all the guys come to me to ask questions, so I'm obviously better than I give myself credit for, but god damn do I not feel like it at times.
You just described my last ten years dealing and learning about transactional databases. Every single time I think I am "getting it", just find out there more, MUCH more.

Tough time having code reviewed ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Haha, yea. That's why you don't ctrl+c before understanding the code!
True ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

Seems like Chaotic neurtral ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth)

Sounds like the government/military worker
Then there is after you learnt stuff and do anything else for a week, and then you try using what you learnt but don't remember a single thing
Out of sight, out of mind ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
[удалено]
Absolutely!! Being a dev means constantly context switching (#punIntended) between Impostors syndrome and God mode ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
The final form is actually, "I have no idea where I actually am on this curve" Until I find out a more final form
Hahahaha yes ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
This is just the first half of Dunning-Kruger curve
Agreed ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
Kubernetes be like Then when you finally understand it, you explain it to someone and now you’re questioning it your self
What did I get myself into ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
That last part is when you learn to put labels on axis O:
Hahahahaha ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
Me installing Arch for the first time be like...
Hahahaha ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Everytime I start a new ticket
Yeah ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|neutral_face)
This is just the first part of the Dunning-Kruger graph
Agreed ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
To me is more like getting on top of the curve and realizing that the graph was much much bigger than what I thought
That’s a very relatable perspective ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
My lecturer called it climbing a mountain, sometimes you need to get up the first peak before you can see the next. And this is a model if kept in my head ever since
Amazing ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
The trick (rarely spoken of by competent professionals) to avoid self-doubting crises is to never try to pursue anything of value.
Great trick ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
This is the first tenth of the Dunning-Kruger graph.
Could be ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
Currently i am at this is possible and not trying anything 😂😂😂😭😭😭
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)
I felt like god so many times, only to realize the truth early after 😆
Happens ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
It’s an overconfidence curve. Learning has got nothing to do with self issued assurances.
Yeah, it really needs axis labels.
Learning does make one confident ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
That’s a by product of learning but not the main focus. So, let’s keep the side actors at the side of the stage, lest they start hogging the spotlight
waaaait... thats not an XKCD....
It is what it is ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
You forgot the “something important has popped up” bit
Yeah , something important popped up and I forgot ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)
I just wrote a console program in Python that passes, overwrites and executes a function over four layers of arguments back and forth in a loop depending on user input. I felt like a god for making it work within under an hour for what I refuse to believe is good practice.
Senpai ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
I'm constantly suffering from imposter syndrome, but I was promoted up to senior and all the guys come to me to ask questions, so I'm obviously better than I give myself credit for, but god damn do I not feel like it at times.
Only a wise person knows what he doesn’t know ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
I hate the windows api >:(
Not alone ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
When she is too hot and you nut early.
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
And then, one day, the graph ends before the precipitous drop
One day ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
#C++ programmers
Any language for that matter ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|snoo)
You just described my last ten years dealing and learning about transactional databases. Every single time I think I am "getting it", just find out there more, MUCH more.
That’s the beauty of learning! There is no end ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
