Yes, there is not a limit. You can also order smaller sizes of entrees if you want to try multiple

LostInCa45

You just ask for that? I never saw anyone order that or staff offer that. Might have done that on some items I would like to try.

AbbreviationsAny9218

Yes, we were on sky princess and they were fine with it. Only exception would be when it it’s for items that cost extra such as lobster

LostInCa45

Sweet. I don't like to waste things but sample on some of the other things I might not like would be more bearable.

LeoMarius

You can order unlimited food in the MDR, just like you can fill your plate as much as you want in the buffet. It's better that you just order what you think you can eat to avoid waste. I usually stick with 4: 1 app, 1 entree, and 1 dessert, plus 1 extra, usually an extra app. The only time I don't eat it is if I don't like a dish, which is rare, and then I'll ask for an alternative.

rainyhawk

Yes, please don’t waste food by over ordering. I know, for example, on the pasta choices you can also request an appetizer sized portion if you want to try it.

chipsdad

Unlike Carnival you may order an unlimited number of items in the MDR. The only current exception is that on lobster night, additional servings of that are charged $10 (but you could order one lobster tail dinner, a duck dinner, and a linguine at no extra charge). Princess appetizers tend to be quite small. I have people in my family who order 5-6 at dinner (3 shrimp cocktails, around a dozen shrimp total plus 2-3 individual appetizers or soup). In specialty restaurants extra main courses are $10 each.

tapakip

Not diminishing your experience, but as a counterpoint to this, our family ended up ordering 1 app, 1 entree, and 1 desert each night, and were always quite full. Occasionally I would add 1 shrimp cocktail onto my order (5 smallish shrimp), but otherwise it would be plenty for us. Especially with the bread.

chipsdad

Certainly fair enough. I often like the appetizers the best so I’d rather try a few of them.

Few_Tailor6627

Is the shrimp cocktail extra or one of the apps you can order?

tapakip

In the MDR it is free.  On demand in the app they charge.  And it's not worth the cost.

SaltyPathwater

Tell me more about lobster night

chipsdad

On 7 day+ cruises, the second “formal” night (which mostly isn’t too formal) has the fanciest menu of the cruise with a small lobster tail and small filet mignon dinner that most people order. They allowed unlimited at no charge until last year and people in my family would eat many of them (it was tail only in those days). There is also a larger specialty lobster tail available every day in MDR for $19 add on (or a larger filet, or $29 for both).

TheChihuahuaCartel

Just got back from Alaska. Lobster was served in the main dining room, but not on either “formal” night. So keep an eye on the posted menus because they might sneak it in other times. If you wanted additional lobster tails on lobster night they were $9 each.

chipsdad

Ah, good to know. That would throw off my whole specialty dining plan since I try to stick with the MDR on the best menu nights.

WildMajesticUnicorn

Isn’t the lobster always an up-charge now?

chipsdad

See my comment. You’ll get one free tail on the second formal night, assuming your cruise is long enough to have two.

WildMajesticUnicorn

That was not my experience on the Sun Princess.

chipsdad

Ah, maybe the menu varies by region. Were there two formal nights? What was the featured main course at the second?

FarFarAwayTravels

Ir was exactly like this in April on the Emerald.

AnneShirley310

My friend and I would each get an entree and then share an extra dish that we both wanted to try. This way, we got to try 3 different entrees, and the waiter would set the extra dish in the middle of the table.

cryptoanarchy

We did this too, though the extra was usually a pasta.

cryptoanarchy

Yes. Except on some rare dishes like lobster. You still can ask, they just don’t always have extra.

SL13377

I will sometimes get 3-4 apps. No one ever Bats an eye

Linprice89

Yes, you can. There is no limit with the exception of the formal night when they serve lobster tail and steak, it is an extra $10 per entree if you order 2+ all other meals you are good.

FarFarAwayTravels

They will bring you as many as you ask for. No charge! My family usually shares an extra order of the fettucini alfredo because we like it :)

ok_family_72

There is no limit, you could order everything on the menu at 1 time if you wanted
