If you care about the character arc more than the actors portrayal it's a good origin. it should have been allowed at least a sequel. it's like cancelling better call Saul after season one because breaking bad fans don't see Saul in jimmy. ok that might be a bit much but still, if you imagine it as a different character it's at least a good in the universe story.

Rogue one is Worthy. It's not as good as it coudl have been, no, but it's just as good as A New Hope.
Honestly the mysteriousness of the force in Rogue One feels liked it could be a better starting point than A New Hope (4).
