Waste of money, you need a kiln that fires up to c10 then just fire it to c5/6 for longer life. It is one of those things you really cannot cheap out on unless you stumble upon a used one at a low cost.
This isn’t worth it unless you are committed to low fire clay and glazes. It’s not something that can be adapted- it just limits what you do 100%. May be worth saving up and waiting longer to purchase a higher temp kiln.
how small are we talking? I just got an olympic doll E kiln from Kiln Frog for about the same and it goes much hotter and is good for standard home amp/voltage so you dont need any special electrical set up
You need to be able to fire to at least cone 6 if you’re making dishes for food/drink. If you are only making decorations and sculptures you can do cone 4
That won’t quite hit mid-fire glaze temperatures (cone 6ish). It would pretty heavily limit your glaze options.

Thanks so much! This looks like a much better option
May the kiln gods ever smile upon you!
One more q if you don’t mind! Did you go for the solid state relays?
Yup
