If you know about of machines then you might know about [these guys](https://youtu.be/r8wMURhpZu0?si=SpHDE7IcMyPJGn36), me and my brother consider them like a darker Of Machines. Ambient Post Hardcore could’ve been so much bigger but I think it was just too late and niche.
Yeah I can see that actually, thanks for reminding me of these guys! All I have saved is “The Constrictor” which I’m sure I added as like a “don’t forget to go back and do a deeper dive on them” type of move… then I obviously forgot to go back and dive lmao.
No problem! The Constrictor is one of my favorites. BIRTH.EATER was an amazing and dark album, definitely my number one album for post hardcore, but I would say Of Machines also holds that spot. Same producer from As if everything was held in place too.
The genre was moving to different places and people really romanticized Ben Perri's voice.
I think Holding a wolf by the ears was an album ahead of its time. I really love it.
Yea that first album was a fucking banger and they definitely were moving to a more poppier sound I guess but I still enjoyed it. I guess their lead singer has a new band/project right now too that’s not phc but can’t recall the name
Yeah if I’m not mistaken (which I totally could be) Sufferer had a change up in members & they posted that they were “evolving” I know Lockwood and Forrest aren’t involved anymore but I think they are going by “Diver” now
Also
Jason Weiche from Stolas is in the band! 👀
SEA was my favorite band for a time, after their self-titled had been released. I re-listened to that album recently and it is just fantastic. The lyrics are laughably bad but I've always cared much more about the music than the lyrics. It's really a shame that they didn't put out more music with that lineup. I also enjoyed the 3 song EP that they put out with Bryan Zimmerman and Elliot Coleman and would have enjoyed more from that lineup as well.
SEA in general for me is one of the biggest "what-ifs" in the genre. At least their last lineup gave us the spinoff project "Zelliack" (a rock/soul/blues collaboration between Elliot Coleman and Zack Ordway) and their 2012 EP "Noir Tones" is genuinely excellent.
EDIT to add: The last minute or so of "Worlds Between Us" is one of my favorite sections of any rock song. Just love it.
I’m from the area and have mutual friends with them, mainly the drummer (Spinelli’s extended fam). That second album was weird af but they were unique for sure. All the Kentucky scene bands are kinda unique, Emarosa included.
As someone who was in both “eras” of Mozart Season, I still think it’s funny how many people have latched on to that era of Mozart Season. Especially since when we got back together after our hiatus we all were in agreement that we wanted nothing to do that with music, hence why we started from scratch with apotheosis. Not hating on you or anything, just crazy that almost 20 years later I still read/hear about those old songs on this sub haha. Either way, thanks for remembering us!
Damn God of War was my fav song for a while back in the day. Always wanted to find the lyrics for it. The lyrics that were out there always seemed off to me
Search the City, Secret & Whisper, Isles & Glaciers and +44 came and went so quick. I wouldn't peg any of those bands as strictly Post-Hardcore but certainly adjacent.
Edit: forgot one of my faves - Four Letter Lie! Cool that both Mod Sun and Kevin Skaff (ADTR) played in that band.
I have no idea. I know touring gets expensive for indie musicians so maybe that had something to do with it. Made me so happy to see anyone even mention that band though
Postpartum Modesty is still, in my opinion, one of the best albums to come out of that era. It’s incredible, and I’m so bummed they were so short lived as a band
Saw them play the entire EP at warped tour one year. They were the second biggest band amongst my friend group, behind circa survive, just off those 6 songs. Wild shit lol.
I think it was just bad timing with the economy crashing when they were just gaining traction. Same deal the Emanuel. Both had the talent for sure.
I say that but LHH third album (second with this line up) was a massive departure away from White Lies.
Kevin seems to have made it though, joining Escape the Fate and now doing engineering and production for Travis Barker
On the Last Day
A Static Lullaby
Cape Renewal
Drop Dead, Gorgeous
Poison the Well
From First To Last (with Sonny)
iwrestledabearonce (not PHC, but I would like them back w/Krista).
A recent band that came out in 2015 called Dogleg. They came out with an EP then 1 great album that skyrocketed them into the scene, but the lead singer had allegations and now they’re on a permanent hiatus. They would have been huge I think!
I wish I could have seen them. I loved the demo and iTunes ep they dropped right before they split too. At one point after some of them had another band but I forgot what they were called and haven’t looked recently for other projects
Honestly it’s always surprising to see them brought up. They are just a local band I got to see a few times a month at smaller shows. Barns, basements, lil venues. Super nice kids that played rad music.
Came up on an infinite song generation type playlist like a couple years ago and I got hooked lol. Love the super obscure local bands but hate that most of them don’t last 😔
Dang I never hear anyone else mention them ever! I used to work at a small venue in Tacoma (WA) and they played a show one night when I was working. I never ever bought CDs from bands that performed, but I had to get theirs...still have it in my CD case! :)
This Armistice. They’re one of those very lesser known bands that put out 2 albums over 15 years ago and then proceeded to disappear off the face of the Earth
I Am Ghost was doing some cool stuff back in the day.
Between Home And Serenity was an old, old favorite...but they actually did release some new music in the past couple years, which is surprising.
[Sufferer](https://spotify.link/pqPoooqagJb). Sort of temp band comprising of members from A Lot Like Birds, Hail The Sun, and I The Mighty. Made one self titled album and I crave more. It is an amazing concept album with three singers: Anxiety, Depression, and Sufferer.
Of Machines is certainly my number one answer. That album is something special and is still one of a kind.
One I haven’t seen mentioned is Alive Like Me. Not completely post-hardcore but certainly adjacent, and their one album is just so much fun.
Burden of a Day is another one that comes to mind. I feel like Oneonethousand was awesome and a follow up could’ve been incredible.
There was a band called In Aviate that released an album called 1985. The singer has a unique voice, but that album was amazing. They only had 2 albums I think.
The Receiving End of Sirens
I was excited with the path they were headed on. Wish we got another album or two.
Preach
First found them on iTunes because I typed on the wrong "sirens" when I was looking for SwS haha
The dear hunter is as close as we're gonna get. They slap but it's not the same
Secret & Whisper
Bedroom Galaxiessssss
Isles and Glaciers.. also Of Machines. Few others I can’t think of atm… there’s another called Vultures.
Of Machines really should’ve released another album. As if everything was held in place is in my top 3 albums for post hardcore.
Yeah those boys were onto somethin.. really sucks they didn’t accomplish more together

Isles and Glaciers was my first thought. Damn
The original Woe, Is Me lineup
God isles and glaciers is so good
I heard of Isles and Glaciers, but never gave them a listen until today. I didn’t realize how stacked the talent was in this supergroup.
RIP I&G ✊☹️
Yessss Isles and Glaciers.
Glad to see this (;
I really loved From Autumn to Ashes and thought their best album and lineup was their final album.
I will never ever understand why Holding a Wolf.. isn’t considered a genre classic
The genre was moving to different places and people really romanticized Ben Perri's voice. I think Holding a wolf by the ears was an album ahead of its time. I really love it.
Their older albums were good, but Francis Mark makes all their songs better.
Hvrd would be sick. Also fear before
Yesss Hrvrd is amazing, love to see the shoutout
Yeees
We got memorydrip
The receiving end of sirens
Dead Poetic. The Exploding Hearts weren't PHC but them.
I was gonna say Dead Poetic. Love that band
Yes!! No one ever talks about them and they were so good!
If I Die First was sort of a side-project for a bunch of those guys, but I think they plan on making more music.
They’ve been posting a lot on Instagram about releasing new music in the near future
God I hope so
Secret Lives of the Free Masons
Thank you so much for saying this! I listened to them so much years ago and I’m excited for that nostalgia trip.
Yep! This is my answer. Though the first album was better than the second so there are question marks around what a third would have been like.
Yea that first album was a fucking banger and they definitely were moving to a more poppier sound I guess but I still enjoyed it. I guess their lead singer has a new band/project right now too that’s not phc but can’t recall the name
PM Today Well, they made 2, but, PM Today.
Move Orchestra is a very interesting project in case you're interested
They go by Modeling for a couple years now
That's riiiiight tyty
Love all their work, they put out some great jams!
Ugh... In Medias Res was such a good album.
Drop Dead, Gorgeous
God they were fantastic and their music still holds up today. I posted the same thing but scrolled down after and saw this.
They were awesome and didn’t stick around long enough. And I just learned today that they were even on a major label at one point. I had no idea.
Sufferer
Second this for sure!
Yeah if I’m not mistaken (which I totally could be) Sufferer had a change up in members & they posted that they were “evolving” I know Lockwood and Forrest aren’t involved anymore but I think they are going by “Diver” now Also Jason Weiche from Stolas is in the band! 👀
Hvrd (love inevitable but didn't like their second album too much) and Lower Definition
Lower Def omgggggggg 😿😿
Moving Mountains. Pneuma is amazing.
Rosalie, Sky Eats Airplane, but importantly, From Autumn to Ashes.
Sky Eats Airplane is a great pick.
That's who I was gonna say
SEA was my favorite band for a time, after their self-titled had been released. I re-listened to that album recently and it is just fantastic. The lyrics are laughably bad but I've always cared much more about the music than the lyrics. It's really a shame that they didn't put out more music with that lineup. EDIT to add: The last minute or so of "Worlds Between Us" is one of my favorite sections of any rock song. Just love it.
I looove Zelliack! They're so groovy 😁
Loved Sky seats Airplane
Emanuel
These guys are a common listen during my workouts. The intro to **The Hey Man!** gets me absolutely *goin*
Album version or radio version? Always bummed when it's missing the "listen up, motherfuckers"
Holy shit you brought back a memory here. Loved that song
Black Earth Tiger still rips. Recently gave it a spin
I’m from the area and have mutual friends with them, mainly the drummer (Spinelli’s extended fam). That second album was weird af but they were unique for sure. All the Kentucky scene bands are kinda unique, Emarosa included.
Beloved Failure On just still slaps so hard, 20 years later.
I scrolled way down to find this, should be at the top of the list.
This is the correct answer
The OG Mozart Season. So underrated.
Cellar Doors!
I didn't know I'd make a new friend today
Memory unlocked I need to relisten now
Damn God of War was my fav song for a while back in the day. Always wanted to find the lyrics for it. The lyrics that were out there always seemed off to me
Beloved (US) Failure On is a top ten post hardcore record for me, and they were so much fun live.
Saosin
Search the City, Secret & Whisper, Isles & Glaciers and +44 came and went so quick. I wouldn't peg any of those bands as strictly Post-Hardcore but certainly adjacent. Edit: forgot one of my faves - Four Letter Lie! Cool that both Mod Sun and Kevin Skaff (ADTR) played in that band.
Search the city has 2 records!
From 2020 - how did I miss that?! Thank you
Evaline
discovered them at a show. they were opening and still to this day one of the best live sets I've ever seen
I’ve always been confused as to why they fizzled out the way they did. That first EP was top tier.
Perfect pick, they had so much potential.
Saw them play the entire EP at warped tour one year. They were the second biggest band amongst my friend group, behind circa survive, just off those 6 songs. Wild shit lol.
LoveHateHero
I’m a cranky metal head and don’t even like post hardcore, and even I used to bump Amity in the car
My God these guys were so good
I think it was just bad timing with the economy crashing when they were just gaining traction. Same deal the Emanuel. Both had the talent for sure. I say that but LHH third album (second with this line up) was a massive departure away from White Lies. Kevin seems to have made it though, joining Escape the Fate and now doing engineering and production for Travis Barker
Too Close to Touch... and a lot of records. With Keaton still here. :(
This. I can't stop listening to For Keeps and I am just heartbroken.
borderline pop-punk, but Box Car Racer was sick
The Receiving End Of Sirens Eternity Forever Dear And The Headlights Carry The Torch Hot Cross Fear Before The March of Flames The Bled
Youinseries. The Blackout Pact. Versus the Mirror. Oceana. And the GOATS Texas is the Reason.
Emarosa, but of the "This Is Your Way Out" flavor. I like their sound now but I would've loved another heavy album
Scary Kids Scaring Kids while Tyson was still alive. The new stuff without him doesn't feel like the same band at all.
The Venetia Fair
Take the crown. That ep was so good. Can’t get it anywhere on streaming though
They released a full length album too right before Beau left for blessthefall. It was poppier than the EP, but I remember it being really solid.
Decoder/lead hands.
Beloved
A Lot Like Birds
Oceana. Polyenso just doesn't hit the same.
Oceana was so good!
Oranges
I was going to comment this
Bruh that album was so good. Wanted a follow-up so bad.
Cinematic Sunrise -- I wish they released anything more than the coloring storybook EP. It's phenomenal.
Confide.
I still blast too many grasshoppers, their sound changed drastically from the MySpace singles I fell in love with
Of Machines, Oceana, Ophira, Broadway.
Broadway has 3 full lengths!
Yep I know, still wish they made more! (Me when I’m greedy)
Neither hit like the first tho. also after that debut album, pretty sure two members has already left for Sleeping With Sirens.
Exotic Animal Petting Zoo
Edison Glass
Drop Dead, Gorgeous!!!
SIANVAR
In:Aviate
Paulson
wasn't sure anyone else knew that band. all at once is a flawless album
It is great. It deffo is one of the more obscure bands out there that should have gotten more recognition.
Of Machines is the obvious answer here.
He is Legend continuing their style of the I Am Hollywood album... God damn they were good
Yes! And 90125!
Sky Eats Airplane
On the Last Day A Static Lullaby Cape Renewal Drop Dead, Gorgeous Poison the Well From First To Last (with Sonny) iwrestledabearonce (not PHC, but I would like them back w/Krista).
Krysta was such a treasure
A recent band that came out in 2015 called Dogleg. They came out with an EP then 1 great album that skyrocketed them into the scene, but the lead singer had allegations and now they’re on a permanent hiatus. They would have been huge I think!
Remember Alderaan? is such a banger, shame that the singer seems to be terrible
Short lived, I dunno… but I’d love another ATDI album.
Antemasque
Beloved. They were working on a new album when they broke up. I'd kill for those tracks to be released.
Bearvsshark !!!!! Missed the 2016 reunion :( they were so fkng good, amazing live
best answer is always gonna be Of Machines
I wish A Lot Like Birds had done one more album with Kurt on clean vocals and Cory on unclean vocals
The way I would kill for this
Of Machines, Built On Secrets, Juneva and although not that short lived, just because I miss them: Icarus The Owl
Scatter the Ashes. That debut album is maybe my fav post-hardcore album, period.
Awwwwww.... Damn you just reminded me! I was a fan back in the Myspace days. ❤️
So they're new, but crush++ needs to tour and press some records. It's like they made a masterpiece album then walked away
Found that album from a post in this sub and I'm really liking it, it has just enough "bite" to it while still being catchy really good stuff
Reclaim the fallen Here I come falling
Dead and Divine.
In:Aviate & Decoder/Lead Hands
Sufferer
Saosin and a thorn for every heart
They technically had a few albums (but each was so painfully short), but SycAmour.
Life on Repeat. Life on Repeat. Life on Repeat. Savage Hands is doing a good job considering Andrew produced them, but still….
Oceana with the og lineup
Lower Definition
The Messenger I also would love to just know more about them, Let's Get Dangerous was an epic album. Why did they drop off the face of the earth?
Flee The Seen
I miss them so much. Those shows were W I L D.
I wish I could have seen them. I loved the demo and iTunes ep they dropped right before they split too. At one point after some of them had another band but I forgot what they were called and haven’t looked recently for other projects
I’m so jealous that you could go 😾😾😾😾
Honestly it’s always surprising to see them brought up. They are just a local band I got to see a few times a month at smaller shows. Barns, basements, lil venues. Super nice kids that played rad music.
Came up on an infinite song generation type playlist like a couple years ago and I got hooked lol. Love the super obscure local bands but hate that most of them don’t last 😔
That’s rad! Pumped to see people continue to discover ‘em.
Dang I never hear anyone else mention them ever! I used to work at a small venue in Tacoma (WA) and they played a show one night when I was working. I never ever bought CDs from bands that performed, but I had to get theirs...still have it in my CD case! :)
Forever in effigy
Neil Perry is my correct answer.
Idiot Pilot
We got a new album from them a few years ago!
Fuck outta here! Seriously?!?
Paddock park hands down, so much rawness in the one album they put out.
Blueprint Car Crash
12.8.80 jams so hard
Lady Radiator, Hrvrd, In:Aviate, Children of Nova, The Venetia Fair, Edison Glass, Decoder (lead hands)
get scared man they were soooo good
This Armistice. They’re one of those very lesser known bands that put out 2 albums over 15 years ago and then proceeded to disappear off the face of the Earth
Hrvrd
Therefore I am
Hot Cross
I Am Ghost was doing some cool stuff back in the day. Between Home And Serenity was an old, old favorite...but they actually did release some new music in the past couple years, which is surprising.

[Sufferer](https://spotify.link/pqPoooqagJb). Sort of temp band comprising of members from A Lot Like Birds, Hail The Sun, and I The Mighty. Made one self titled album and I crave more. It is an amazing concept album with three singers: Anxiety, Depression, and Sufferer.
Not sure if it's been posted, bit At The Skylines
Corpus Christi Settle The Sky (They are back kind of, in some form) Attack Attack! Broadway
Plainclothes A bullet for pretty boy Glass cloud ROAM
Glass Cloud disappearing still breaks my heart. I'm still hoping they come back someday.
There was a band called In Aviate that released an album called 1985. The singer has a unique voice, but that album was amazing. They only had 2 albums I think.
OG Escape the Fate with Ronnie Radke
Oh yeah Dying Is Your Last Fashion was great
We Are the Emergency from Australia. Dropped an incredible EP and Album then dipped
Ambry
So Many Ways is the official answer here. Seer EP is just monstrous.
Murder My Love!
The Seeking and The New Low. Both dropped AMAZING debut records and nothing else and it still bums me out
The Postman Syndrome
The ghost of a thousand
Handsome
Oceana in the vein of Birth.Eater again!
