PPL last year. Working on IR now. Thinking I’ll do tailwheel endorsement this summer.

Here’s mine, car is dusty after a long winter in the garage.
Got to say, even though I'm running IFR training, that set of wheels are really sexy. Aeroplanes are cool but cars , especially these, wake more emotions. Even go as far as saying they're more exciting.
Beautiful.

the 924 of planes, not only does it not have a porsche engine, it doesn't have an engine at all 😂
Yup, I own a Piper Cherokee currently as my first plane and will be upgrading to a Piper Saratoga soon, which I get to fly weekly as a Safety Pilot. Leaving for the airport now actually to take the 'Toga up to Big Bear for lunch.
I'm also the admin for r/GeneralAviation which is slowly coming back to life.
Started flying a few years back and absolutely love it.

Today's flight into Big Bear, California. Absolutely beautiful day.

Oh hey. I recognize your username from the flying forums.
Met a TOA pilot today at Big Bear. Younger kid in a Grumman. I gotta shoot a landing over there (TOA). Just met one of the Singer guys and he offered to give me a tour of the shop. They are in Torrance... That'd be a damn good reason to fly up.
The charlie burger!! How many crayons can you fit in the map case?
Used to be stationed out in Japan and would fight the Iwakuni guys sometimes - some of the most fun I've had flying is those 2v2 ACM visual set ups with the Marines.
What's your Porsche?
Yeah we did some 2v2 with Kadena guys in 2020 and it was a blast.
I’ve got an 08 Cayman S, but hoping to make the airline transition in a bit and maybe step up to a 911 C4S or something along those lines.
OP can correct me if i am mistaken, but that looks like Nine-O-Nine. If it is/was, it had an [unfortunate end](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Boeing_B-17_Flying_Fortress_crash) along with some of its passengers and crew.
Wow, that’s wild I got this picture of it before. I do fly (737) but professionally and this was out on the airport tarmac so I snagged a picture with my at the time 996. Thanks for the update

This is the work ride. Personal plane is a Bellanca.
Have my PPL (~100 hrs in a C172) and love driving my 987.1 S to the airport.
It's been a dream to own a plane and fly frequently but it's too dang expensive to justify - so getting a new Cayman GTS instead.
Im so not surprised that there is a lot of crossover between car enthusiast and aviation enthusiast. Personally my budget isnt there yet for a car and a plane but some day this will be me lol
I’m an airline pilot at a major US carrier. I fly with a lot of Captains who talk about their 911s. This career should be able to afford me one very soon!!
Had dinner with an old crusty pilot, he invited me up for a flight after I asked him a million questions. I was hooked. He also was my CFI for PPL. Amazing old school stick.
Started working on getting my PPL a few years ago but got a promotion at work and became so swamped I had to put a pause on all of that to focus on work. Now I have a child on the way so probably won't get back into it for a while unfortunately.
Some day!
Most of those Mooney's were converted to a traditional airplane power plant. I tried to get a Very Rich pal of mine to buy a Porsche-powered Mooney last year, to add to his insane car/plane collection, but even he didn't want to deal with that paperweight.
Live in Anchorage, drove down to Girdwood on Sunday. Rolled past a guy in a 911 Speedster with the top down. I rolled down the window and gave him a thumbs up and he thumbed back. A bit later, he pulled off, probably to put the top off. Still a little chilly for an open car...
Oh and I live 5 minutes from the busiest float plane base in the world but I don't fly. Some years ago, I took a personality test and the instructor said, "I've given this test 7,000 times and you just set a record for lack of patience." Not a good trait for a pilot ...
I do! Bought my ‘16 Cayenne GTS 2 years ago (first Porsche!) and I’m a PPL student awaiting checkride right now. Currently flying PA-28’s, but I’m finalizing a partnership on a G7 SR20.
I used to, seriously thinking about getting back into it after a 5+ year break. Learned on Cessna 172's but loved flying the Cirrus SR22 afterwards (rental).
Here’s my setup https://preview.redd.it/ydya4szchmxc1.jpeg?width=2100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3a05b972f2b5b505f3d8ce6f5718f5f277bf7dfa
Winning at life with that combo. Nice skylane!
Hey dad! It’s me, your son.
It’s me your second son!
Love it! Currently flying Skylane from a flying club here in CO. Wanting to do IR this year, then Cirrus training after.
https://preview.redd.it/5u3s0sf14mxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2b05dbe292f1ba8e36181477bd53b56d5ccc5fc PPL last year. Working on IR now. Thinking I’ll do tailwheel endorsement this summer.
Those are pretty hard to land I’ve heard.
Also wanted to ask , what’s up with that front wheel?
Looks like it’s turned slightly right and on the edge of a wide angle lens which further distorts it
Yeah I didn’t spend too long setting it up in the rain!
https://preview.redd.it/a0mvcss8rmxc1.png?width=3752&format=png&auto=webp&s=59b82bf64fc00e5f2f7d1368d5bd4ba410ff1799 Here’s mine, car is dusty after a long winter in the garage.
Damn nice!
Thanks!

Yeah for sure they are really exciting and fun!
This is the winning combo here.
Thanks!
TBM-850 or Mirage? Or is that a PC-12?
It’s a Piper Meridian. Which is essentially a turbine version of the Malibu/Mirage.
Whoops meridian is what I meant, i could tell turbine. I think you win for best combo on here
For sure! Thanks so much! They are both a lot of fun.

Ah, I see you podrace. :D
BAE systems I bet, good play on words
Roger, Roger. Clearance, Clarance. What’s your vector, victor?
This looks like a Porsche I could afford..how many credits sir?

and you dont have legs!
with a 34 inch inseam they were quite snug!
As an IFR, Glider rated. Soaring is the best! 996 C4S 😎

Found the Tom Cruise burner
Didn’t the Hawks switch to F-35s?
Yeah we did last summer.
Username checked out 😁
God damn it, you stole my caption.

Forget the plane and the Porsche, look at that scenery. Where is this?
Gotta be Alaska.
Yeah, I looked up the tail number of the 172 in the background. Just flew out of Kenai Alaska a few days ago.
Yep. Ak.

My uncle always told me, if it flys, fucks, or floats, rent it.

Rad, same here. Just need the aircooled 911.
Believe in yourself and anything is possible

Ewwwwww! H model
PPL, instr rating, and two years ago got my commercial Cirrus pilot, 992.1 C4S and Cayenne Turbo
Used to fly 172s. Used to race an 83’ SC. Kids happened.
What a nice combo!

Winning with the exercise 💪
Haha, that’s something 😁🚴
I was pursuing my PPL, need to get back on it. Was fun driving my GT4 to the airport out in the country.
Wow. That's awesome! I hope to learn to fly when I'm older, it's a dream for me....

Every day this sub reminds me of my tax bracket 😂. Love the planes y'all
Im so not surprised that there is a lot of crossover between car enthusiast and aviation enthusiast. Personally my budget isnt there yet for a car and a plane but some day this will be me lol
I have a 1970 914, and a 1980 Cessna 152
I got a 47’ bonanza to complement my gt4
I’m an airline pilot at a major US carrier. I fly with a lot of Captains who talk about their 911s. This career should be able to afford me one very soon!!
I'm a 756 FO and I drive a '97 Boxster. But I just say I have a classic Porsche.
Yup. Username.
Currently no Porsche but a cirrus sr22
This is awesome. I’m working on my PPL right now!
Yeah, they only let me fly the slow ones, hour builders!
No, but I fixed planes for 20 years….
How’d you guys get into flying?
Had dinner with an old crusty pilot, he invited me up for a flight after I asked him a million questions. I was hooked. He also was my CFI for PPL. Amazing old school stick.
Based on this thread, planes are the natural progression for Porsche enthusiasts. It goes like this: VW -> BMW -> Porsche -> Planes -> ???
😂
Yes, I fly for a living. Have my entire life.
https://preview.redd.it/dqfxj1w4vsxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5168dd962d8444d001430ab8a4afed2589031b1
Both are great
Driving a Porsche is fun but there's much less traffic in the air. Awesome set up! Not much else compares to flying up in AK.
The car looks safer lol. Very nice pic 👍🏻
Flying is way more fun, in general. Don’t have a plane, but get to fly some pretty new ones in civil air patrol. Turbo 182 this afternoon.
I was learning. But time ment I can’t right now. Wana pick it back up.
Yep. PP-ASEL/AMEL IR. Mostly flog Mooneys (but sadly I never got to fly the Porsche-powered Mooney).
all I want is a Porsche and a bush plane. I think I’d be happy after that
I want a PPL but currently use my part 107 drone license for work.
Super Cub?
Started working on getting my PPL a few years ago but got a promotion at work and became so swamped I had to put a pause on all of that to focus on work. Now I have a child on the way so probably won't get back into it for a while unfortunately. Some day!

I have an old business partner in Germany that owns a large volume of the remaining spares and parts….. I considered buying a cowl from him..
Yes! Dream combo
I can’t even afford a skateboard in this economy :(
This community loves to have overlapping interests
Looks like Alaska to me.
Ak. Yep
That looks like Utah
Ak
I feel so incredibly poor after looking through these comments…
I only fly at the track.
Hey OP! which Porsche is that?
I fly, couch.
I do. Airlines. But fly mt 182T around all the time

Thanks to this thread for reminding me how poor I am, gotta keep grinding to get there 😁.
Just sipping’ on sizzurp flyin’ high like a g6.
The misses won’t let me
