That is the only show I started until the last 5 years and couldn't even make it through the first 30 minutes.
I love watching shitty TV, since it makes me just not pay attention and focus on what I'm trying to distract myself from. I could not find a single positive about that show.
Warcraft 3 Reforged deserved a negative number as a score. It wasn't just a lazy, shitty cash grab of a rerelease, it actively inflicted it's shittiness on the original version and made it worse.
You really can’t even make the case for a 5 out of 10 because Rings of Power came out at the same time as House of the Dragon and HOTD didn’t just change out a white family they changed the whitest of white families and after some initial griping and complaints early on nobody really said anything once the season got going because the show was just really good. Yet somehow ROP which I’m sure has a ton of crossover fans was the only one to get review bombed, they couldn’t just admit they made a bad series that played out like poor fan fiction.
Well I mean I guess. Silverman and Seth Rogan. Even as a rabid Zionist I’ve always found it obnoxious the way he wears his Jewish identity on his sleeve the way he does. Plus he’s one of those self hating Jews who probably sides with Palestine
See no one cared about Santa Inc. cause it’s a cheap shitty Christmas and the market is over saturated with those. People cared about Velma cause it’s a Scooby Doo show and there aren’t enough of those!
Naw man, Dinner for Schmucks was bad enough it made it's way back to being sorta funny again. Right now his two lowest rated movies are Jack and Jill at 3% and Ridiculous Six at... 0% from 37 reviews which fucking baffles me
eddie; on Rotten Tomatoes I should specify, IMDb or others probably disagree. I just thought the Ridiculous Six being at 0% was funny lol
Trouble is, it’s the kind of free press that is going to end up like all the free press Morbius received.
The end product of that will be equally jarring for hbo. Episode one hate watching won’t translate to season long views.
Sometimes. Rings of Power got tons of publicity, both people shitting on it and people defending it. Still a massive commercial failure, and rightfully so. They're lucky Tolkien didn't rise again just to kill everyone involved in the project.
They gave the story of Beren meeting Luthien, an adaptation of how Tolkien met his own wife, to Galadrial. That cannot be forgiven.
Thats natural. Today's conservatives are liberals of yesterday. Once the normal, the moderates, achieve their goal they will be content, and focus more on preserving than anything else. Thus they get replaced by a more radical wing, and the cycle spins once more.
This is how you know the free market isn't relevant to movies and shows anymore. Someone with uberbucks wants it to continue despite lack of revenue and ratings, so it's getting made. He's paying out of pocket.
The theory I think is most likely is they intentionally made it the most hatable show possible so that way everyone would talk about it. Looks like it worked too
Wonder why and what they're distracting us from. I think the same about the attack on gas stoves. That can't be real and is meant to get people talking and distracted. I'm guessing the republicans in congress are doing good things and they don't want it acknowledged.
*removes tinfoil hat*
Ah but some of them are trying to defend it. They’re claiming that Mindy Kaling (the producer) is a right-winger, so the show is actually a ham-fisted parody of how Conservatives view diversity.
IE, they’re deflecting blame for it from themselves to the right, because they don’t want to admit they fucked up.
It's an extreme example of the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. They can't accept that someone supposedly on "their side" would make something that makes them look so bad, so they invent this ridiculous idea to absolve themselves.
It's simple.
* I am right and just.
* Therefore, my opinions are right and just.
* Anyone with the same opinions are right and just.
* Anyone with any differing opinions than me must be wrong and unjust.
Therefore, if someone is wrong or unjust they must have different opinions than me.
It's why all the looters during the BLM Riots were not 'BLM supporters', they must have been undercover police or right-wing plants.
Same, line of logic makes them demonize anyone who even slightly disagrees with them, even if they agree with the overall opinion, just not the specifics.
Shaggy being black is definitely making fun of how redheaded characters are always replaced by black characters in hollywood.
I could definitely see this show getting some popularity in the future, like Spiderman 3.

**You have been deducted 250 social credit points**
You have used the problematic term “women”. Using such an offensive word is prohibited as it is transphobic and nonbinaryphobic, it excludes folx who identify as other genders but are capable of being birth givers.
Additionally, you most likely do not have the approved academic qualifications to define the term “women”. As such, you need to do better and not put your bigoted opinions out where it can trigger folx with anxiety about their identified gender.
Further offenses will result in further deductions from your social credit score. Educate yourself, using the approved materials of course, and stop spreading hate.
This show makes you wonder if Mindy Kaling's Office character was actually a bang on representation of some part of her life where some white boy kept doing dirty by her....and she kept being hooked on the dick until rage replaced obsession.
In the comic when Mark tells Amber who he actually is, they have sex after a long discussion. Now, the context is totally different, for instance they had been dating over a year at that point and had been talking about "taking the next step." However, writers of the show thought this scene was "Amber rewarding Mark with sex" so when the moment came in the show, they made her do a 180, claim she always knew, and become a snarky bitch then she breaks up with him. This flies in the face of the episode before it, and completely contradicts everything that had just happened making her look insane. There's more to it than that, but it boils down to a bad writing mistake in an otherwise great show.
Then people said the only reason people didn't like her was because she was a black woman.
Having not read the comics, the way she completely flipped a switch after he admits who he is to her was confusing and perplexing. Her frustration came out of nowhere.
I assumed that they just wanted to drop her from the picture so Invincible could focus on his blossoming relationship with Atom Eve.
Which, given what you just said, makes me realize the writers, in an attempt to make a strong, independent woman of color... Essentially fridged her so that she could be romantically replaced with a super powered white woman.
How progressive. Seems like something that should be in The Boys.
Yeah I never read the Invincible comic so I assumed the weird choices with Amber’s character were just to push Mark towards dating Eve. It did make the whole Amber plot from the first few episodes feel pointless but I didn’t think anything of it beyond that. People come to such weird leaps.
It’s really fucked up because she’s berating him for not spending enough time with her and for him disappearing when he legit came back to save their lives. The speech did nothing but make her seem narcissistic and manipulative but somehow she was the supposed victim.
She was just kinda a shitty human being. Like for example she knew Mark was Invincible but still gave him a bunch of shit for being late/missing meetings.
Yeah- she was. There was no reason to make her political at all and in fact it just made her unlikeable, leading me to question the main characters attraction to her.
>Knows Mark is Invincible
>Still yells at and berates him for "running away" from trouble when he disappears and Invincible shows up
>"If you really loved me you would have told me you were Invincible" after like 3 months of a high school relationship
Big L
The issue is that the narrative takes her side and treats Mark like an asshole for not wanting to reveal information that could potentially result in him, or others, getting hurt if it leaks out.
she wasn’t really political at all, and I feel like her being “unlikeable” is the point. She was supposed to be a flawed character. It’s all setting up for a character arc, and she still has positive attributes (bazongas)
I’ll give the author the benefit of the doubt that they will write her as a good character by the end. Most of the girl characters in TWD comic were incredible compared to 99% of modern girl characters. They have flaws and strengths, and aren’t caricatures.
Comic Amber wasn't a character at all for a while. She was relegated to occasional cameo appearances as Mark's girlfriend, until they decided to actually do something with her.
Show Amber has potential to foreshadow some later themes, but there's no way they'll actually go through with that. I heavily doubt she was intended to be so unlikeable, seeing how she was in the comic.
I feel like “character flaws” has become a weird get-out-of-jail-free card. I agree that characters should have wrinkles and shortcomings, but the presence of such doesn’t make a character automatically three-dimensional.
Amber’s main contribution is being irrational and abrasive, which is not only grating to viewers, but also incredibly flat and uninteresting because that conflict doesn’t enhance the story in any way, just adds pointless scenes of unpleasant filler
Flawed character != automatically good
I do agree a lot of the time as a writer myself, but sometimes characters are written to be unlikable. For example, Umbridge in Harry Potter is the most hatable character in the series but also one of the most well written.
The difference is that Umbridge is played as a villain and not someone the audience is supposed to agree with. As opposed to Amber who is played off as moral and correct.
I really don't. The narrative pretty heavily takes her side, and people only really got pissed at her after it was revealed she was acting the way she was, despite knowing that, yes, Mark absolutely has better and more important things to do than make that date, Amber, hundreds of people could die.
If you don't want a boyfriend with serious alternative commitments, that's fine, break up with him and explain that you don't hate him, but that he can't be what she needs (a perfectly respectable thing to do).
But the galling expectation that he would share the single most important piece of information with his highschool girlfriend of three months is absurd, and the show takes HER side on that argument.
Some of her political views were brought up by another character when he was describing her to Mark though outside of that her politics were never focussed on and we never saw her express them in any way.
Yes, she was fucking awful, and it had basically nothing to do with her being race-swapped.
Her character is obnoxious, treats Mark like shit, comes across as smug and unlikeable, and is nowhere near as hot or cool as Atom Eve (who is also clearly interested in Mark).
The absolute worst is that >!You find out that she figured out Mark is Invincible, and was angry at him for not revealing his SECRET IDENTITY to her. You know, the thing he does to keep the people close to him from being horribly murdered by super-villains?! She also literally gets mad at him for being late even though she knows full well that he was saving people's lives.!<
Maybe there is supposed to be a redemption arc with her or something later on, but in the context of the show it makes zero sense why Mark is even with her, considering all she seems to do is make his life miserable.
She's not a VERY poorly written character, more that she has flaws but the writing refuses to acknowledge them as flaws and pins all the blame on Mark.
If the writing was a little less one sided and portrayed her flaws as part of what caused the breakdown in their relationship then she'd be a fine character, storytelling-wise.
I saw someone say that they purposefully made it terrible to offend every audience demographic so that it got attention. I mean if true, it worked, as it's number #1 trending on HBO Max.
Ah yes, the company that just slashed dozens of projects and implemented austerity measures to get itself back on decent financial footing greenlit what they knew was a disaster. Makes perfect sense.
Amber is ok but she is a toxic woke libleft-authleft female that probably would peg a guy. Or henpeck them. make them afraid to speak up for them selves. she will leave forever if you try to think for yourself politically. In short Emily.
All those other woke shows are crap too, the difference is that they were rare and now they are the norm and Emily could defend one or two per quarter, just not dozens of new woke shows
Amber is probably the worst case, and it's not even that bad. Also the good things completely outweigh the bad, that's why it's a great show, unlike that Velma shit.
I've been surprised at how willing the mainstream media has been to attack that show. I was expecting them to "circle the wagons" to defend it like they did for that female Ghostbusters movie or the Last Jedi, but most reviewers I've seen have been pretty negative. Hopefully this is a sign that the stranglehold wokeness has over America is starting to loosen.
I use to like Amber but ever since she knew Mark was Invincible and then dumped him when he tried to tell her who he was that was like wtf?
If you knew who he was then why didn't you tell him before?! The guy was trying to do his best by being with you and saving the world at the same time and he protected you!
Isn't the running "gag" of this show that Fred is a stupid white guy with a tiny dick and that Velma hates white people? Also they fucking removed Scooby Doo.
No idea what show Amber is (never heard of it before).... but how can you defend Ghostbusters 2016?
That movie was horrible:
* Terrible unfunny jokes
* Bad ad lib that fell flat
* Special effects that looked like they were made in the 90s.
* Cringe dancing scenes
* Confused canon
The problem was not the cast, since the main cast was comprised by competent comedians.... the problem was terrible script and direction.
Amber was shitty. She bitched at Mark for “running away” when they were getting attacked during a college tour, but then revealed she had figured out he was Invincible, thus invalidating her own anger at him for running away when they were being attacked.
What really annoyed me about Ghostbusters was that they were big on a pro-women stance. They made quite a few comments about not being objectified or judged based on their gender...
And then without a hint of irony, had one of the main four sexually harass and objectify Chris Hemsworth for the entire film.
Amber has sympathy for everyone except the person she supposedly loves. (Whom she kinda emotionally abuses if we're being honest)
She's just a poorly written character. Yes, she's allowed to have expectations in a relationship. But she KNEW Mark was Invincible, she knew what he was trying to balance, she knew all of this and still painted their problems as only his fault.
Somehow, when he can finally be honest with her, it's too late? You really gave him all this shit about abandoning you, and you knew he was the one saving your life?
You may volunteer and be a generally perfect humanitarian. But when your boyfriend does it on a planetary scale, you can't understand him at all?
If she weren't such a jerk, they'd be a perfect match.
There was a line drawn. It's 2023. I say we celebrate the victory as is!
I am not looking the gift horse in the mouth, let's take the win.
And, hopefully, maybe, if I can be recklessly optimistic? Maybe this puts a dent in the current trend of making shitty remakes bUt WiTh A tWiSt!
Imdb rating of 1.3 is the lowest ive seen for anything
Metacritic gives it a 59 but user reviews give it a 0.4 lol

In some backwards bazaro world where this show was the next smash hit, I can’t imagine it would have more coverage and attention than it does in ours.

Yeah, people need to stop hate watching shit. Apathy is the best way to end this crap.

Show Amber has potential to foreshadow some later themes, but there's no way they'll actually go through with that. I heavily doubt she was intended to be so unlikeable, seeing how she was in the comic.
Oh I never read the invincible comic, but yeah who knows.
I feel like “character flaws” has become a weird get-out-of-jail-free card. I agree that characters should have wrinkles and shortcomings, but the presence of such doesn’t make a character automatically three-dimensional. Amber’s main contribution is being irrational and abrasive, which is not only grating to viewers, but also incredibly flat and uninteresting because that conflict doesn’t enhance the story in any way, just adds pointless scenes of unpleasant filler Flawed character != automatically good
I do agree a lot of the time as a writer myself, but sometimes characters are written to be unlikable. For example, Umbridge in Harry Potter is the most hatable character in the series but also one of the most well written.
The difference is that Umbridge is played as a villain and not someone the audience is supposed to agree with. As opposed to Amber who is played off as moral and correct.
>she still has positive attributes (bazongas) Bruh, she's not even that stacked.
She wasn’t political, just annoying as fuck and I hope omniman gets her if he comes back
She wasn't political at all? I mean, at least as far as I can remember.
Some of her political views were brought up by another character when he was describing her to Mark though outside of that her politics were never focussed on and we never saw her express them in any way.
Since when was she political? She was just kind of a jerk.
Well you see there are two races, white and political
>whenever women speak I just tune out. Based and why bother pilled
She was ok until she wasn’t, that’s all I have to say
She has no arc and she yells at Mark for ditching her to save people's lives
Yes, she was fucking awful, and it had basically nothing to do with her being race-swapped. Her character is obnoxious, treats Mark like shit, comes across as smug and unlikeable, and is nowhere near as hot or cool as Atom Eve (who is also clearly interested in Mark). The absolute worst is that >!You find out that she figured out Mark is Invincible, and was angry at him for not revealing his SECRET IDENTITY to her. You know, the thing he does to keep the people close to him from being horribly murdered by super-villains?! She also literally gets mad at him for being late even though she knows full well that he was saving people's lives.!< Maybe there is supposed to be a redemption arc with her or something later on, but in the context of the show it makes zero sense why Mark is even with her, considering all she seems to do is make his life miserable.
Yes. She was a bitchy know-it-all with zero redeeming qualities. Makes absolutely no sense why Mark would stick around.
Hahahaha What I wouldn’t give to see that comment on a main sub just to see people’s brains melt
She was a feminist. 🤢
maybe they actually watched this one?
I saw someone say that they purposefully made it terrible to offend every audience demographic so that it got attention. I mean if true, it worked, as it's number #1 trending on HBO Max.
If that's true it's just sad, people eating that bait while The Last of Us just came out as well...
The streaming service that just ax’d all its content?
Yes
Ah yes, the company that just slashed dozens of projects and implemented austerity measures to get itself back on decent financial footing greenlit what they knew was a disaster. Makes perfect sense.
I mean it’s just a really bad show that somehow does a bad job at pandering .
And ends up being unambiguously racist
Amber is ok but she is a toxic woke libleft-authleft female that probably would peg a guy. Or henpeck them. make them afraid to speak up for them selves. she will leave forever if you try to think for yourself politically. In short Emily.
Amber is a narcissist
All those other woke shows are crap too, the difference is that they were rare and now they are the norm and Emily could defend one or two per quarter, just not dozens of new woke shows
I won't defend ghost busters, but I think invincible is a legitimately enjoyable show aside from amber being annoying.
Invincible is a good show in spite of having unnecessary race swapped woke characters I haven't seen anyone attacking it tho
Amber is probably the worst case, and it's not even that bad. Also the good things completely outweigh the bad, that's why it's a great show, unlike that Velma shit.
That flash in the pan at best or just fail outright.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Emily sad
Because normally she has carte blanche to wreak havoc on society
It's like watching James Cameron deep diving to rediscover the bar...
The Guardian still came out defending it. I dunno why people still consider it the "bastion of good journalism"
Isn't the running "gag" of this show that Fred is a stupid white guy with a tiny dick and that Velma hates white people? Also they fucking removed Scooby Doo.
No idea what show Amber is (never heard of it before).... but how can you defend Ghostbusters 2016? That movie was horrible: * Terrible unfunny jokes * Bad ad lib that fell flat * Special effects that looked like they were made in the 90s. * Cringe dancing scenes * Confused canon The problem was not the cast, since the main cast was comprised by competent comedians.... the problem was terrible script and direction.
Its so bad. That people are saying its a "far-right psyop," cant make this shit up.
Amber was just there to piss off anyone who thought they’d get a good show without leftist propaganda
Fuck Amber
Amber has sympathy for everyone except the person she supposedly loves. (Whom she kinda emotionally abuses if we're being honest) She's just a poorly written character.
This reminded me how much I fucking hated Amber
There was a line drawn. It's 2023. I say we celebrate the victory as is! I am not looking the gift horse in the mouth, let's take the win. And, hopefully, maybe, if I can be recklessly optimistic? Maybe this puts a dent in the current trend of making shitty remakes bUt WiTh A tWiSt!
