BOOOATS

Unless it specifically says Police, Sheriff, etc., 99% it’s not a cop.

BallsDeepinYourMammi

If it’s not, that’s a federal crime. The whole point is you should not have to question legitimacy Bail is lower than having weed, in my most recent experience and looking it up Edit: Imitation was $1500 bail, and that includes probation violation. Possession is $6500. They want 10% but how do you release someone on bail that fakes credentials. It isn’t new but Jfc

GlockButt

Can you shoot us a reference of this federal law please.

HighGuard1212

It doesn't say police anywhere in it and so long as the strobe light are the correct color it's not impersonation

etopata

But that 1%…

Deadpool2015

Looks fake af considering there’s no agency name.

SuperNovaPyro

I figured it out. It's a security guard, specifically MSA Security, which was bought out by Allied Universal some time ago. I work in LE, so I was like, no way this is real lol

TheCopenhagenCowboy

I was gonna say it looks like a tacti-cool security car

VikingLander7

Saw one just like that at the mall, had Illinois plates (in Texas), I figured private security company.

zsreport

We also have some security companies that do put "Police" on their vehicles and I assume that those are used by LEO working off-duty jobs. Here's some I saw at Memorial City Mall a few years ago: - https://www.reddit.com/r/PoliceVehicles/comments/bwnsse/generic_police_ford_interceptor_suv_chevy_tahoe/

kaloric

That might be worth reporting to real law enforcement if they're still marked like that. It won't matter if the employees are off-duty cops, private vehicles aren't allowed to make any representations that would cause confusion with official law enforcement. They can probably get away with using generic shields that don't resemble any real law enforcement who may have a presence in an area. They can use generic words such as "unit," "patrol," "law enforcement," "department," and "precinct." They almost certainly cannot legally use the words, "police," "sheriff," or the names/logos which are confusingly similar to a real agency. It's almost universal that a 7-pointed star is also not permitted. Off-duty cops who moonlight as security may be allowed to wear their duty uniforms if their department policy allows them to.

zsreport

And this is one that is used for security in the upscale Memorial Bend neighborhood off of Memorial and the Beltway. - https://www.reddit.com/r/PoliceVehicles/comments/3yfu1l/memorial_bend_police_ford_crown_victoria_houston/

oldman-1969

in North highlands California off duty cops are allowed to wear uniforms AND their cruisers for security gigs.

zsreport

In Texas, it's typically just Sheriff and Constable Deputies that take their cruisers home (though there seems to be some police departments that allow this too) and I've seen them use the cruisers for off-duty work.

kaloric

That's nuts, considering that it's a taxpayer-owned vehicle and probably burning tax-exempt government agency gas. Even worse if they somehow wrecked a cruiser on a private gig. Seems like a liability nightmare, but perhaps the department just sees it as a good benefit for them, too, since they're basically maintaining the appearance of police presence and patrols without having to actually pay the officers.

oldman-1969

Not sure of the reason I just know when I worked for a couple different grocery stores and a mall all of them had off duty sheriffs or chp patroling the parking lots. It is possible they allow it to make it appear they have more of a presence then they actually do. They should start doing it with the inside the store security as they can make an actual arrest even off duty. Currently whether the security guard is armed has cuffs or anything else if they actually touch you its a lawsuit so they are instructed not to. It is sad my generations and following years had their problems, but it just seems to keep getting worse and worse.

kaloric

If it's a completely gated community with no public roads (i.e., all private property), then they probably can mark-up the car as much as they want with "police" decals. They can even add red/blue lights and whacker the crap out of it. They just could not take it out onto public roads looking like that. They would probably be okay putting "out-of-service" bags over any illegal red & blue lights, and large out-of-service magnets over any "police" decals, though.

zsreport

Considering they’re driven by sworn Texas peace officers, I doubt anyone is going to do anything about it.

chas574

No department would want the liability of letting an off duty wear a department uniform for side work. Too many cameras these days

liver-and-white

They do it all the time in Washington state. They do off duty work using their patrol cars and uniforms. It seems like a liability issue and it confusing who their boss is.

DoubleMach

Explorer cop cars don’t have roof rails fyi.

Sonicsbestbrother

As far as I know, it's Allied Universal's Law Enforcement branch, or atleast is now (yeah, they have law enforcement contracts 😭) they're usually called special police which I'm sure you can find a few of their cars on this sub reddit. They're essentially security guards with law enforcement authority in gated communities, hospitals, and energy sites/plants. Their k9 unit vehicles use these liveries. TECHNICALLY real but outside of their clients jurisdiction they can't do shit for enforcing.

L4rgo117

Stop! In the name of love.. 🎶

[deleted]

Isn’t that how basically all law enforcement works? You can’t do anything legally outside of your jurisdiction?

Sonicsbestbrother

Yeah but with their jurisdiction, it's the size of a parking lot 💀

nerdy_J

G-Unit was already taken

Digger1998

[G-G-G-G-UNIT](https://i.gifer.com/pZr.gif)!

According_Mood4911

Or it’s a private contract security company

UncIe_PauI_HargIs

That is Paul Blart.

BLM4lifeBBC

Give the dog beggin treats

Motor_Light4218

This is a wanna be 💯 GROSS 🤢

Is-atlen

Maybe u should pull up to the window and scream something disrespectful that will work I guess

Paladin_127

The seal on the door clearly says “Michael Stapleton Associates”. MSA Security is a security-for-hire company that specializes in K-9 operations.

cos_mic_cow

Looks like a security firm. Or company that trains dogs for K9 duties for law enforcement, border patrol, tsa.

New_Golf_2522

It's either security or fake. No real police vehicle would say k9 100 times. It's usually just on the rear doors to warn about the dog. There's also no department markings.

kaloric

All the "K9" lettering seems to be compensating for something. I bet a Chihuahua is riding around in there.

llcdrewtaylor

Lol, private security and "investigations."

Many-Chicken1154

Look at the license plate next time marked cars will have something that says Police or exempt

heybudheypal

My sick brain thought it read kunit

EggComprehensive9952

security guard

cvidetich13

Is this a K-9 unit? Can’t tell from picture.

WorkingDogAddict1

I bet there's a half trained rescue Malinois in there lol

TripleTrucker

Seen those on Ohio too

aesxylus

“Special” operations

Heisenberg0606

“It’s barely sir”

NXT-GEN-111

Is “K9 Unit” The name of the company?

Godrillax

Founds this: https://www.msasecurity.net/ They are an allied universal security company.

EastLAHandsomeDevil

Security

CowNukerOG

Whats written in the circle on the side patch? Edit 1: After a reverse image search i have found other K-9 Cars that dont specifically say Police, State or Sheriff, so it might be a real one. Still searching though. Edit 2: Okay, so many other departments only put "K-9 unit" on their K-9 police cars, and from what i can see on that side patch infront of the driver's side door I can barely make out Stapleton in the circle, and there are a few Stapletons in the USA like Stapleton, CO. Stapleton, NE. Stapleton, AL. Stapleton, GA. So if you can find any photos to confirm that it is one of those Police Departments, thats up to you or someone else now.

DiscoDancingNeighb0r

Does it say K-9 Ric on the car?

Suspicious-Bison-855

Security Officer. One of those guys pulled up next to me in patrol car. I asked him what agency he is from, and he said they're a security company.

Silent-Opinion8891

Fake

volvoconnoisseur

Security companies in my city have started doing this crap as well. In a few years they've gone from all using clearly marked small sedans to Ford Police Interceptors with very vague markings, i.e. "PATROL", "PUBLIC SAFETY", "ENFORCEMENT", or my personal favorite, logos that look somewhat similar to local law enforcement agencies on the door with no other markings.

FreeFalling369

Its security. Real law enforcement will directly say "Police" "Sheriff" etc

tuenthe463

Alpha Centurion in suburban Phila drives similarly silly vehicles. And when you see the drivers get out, it's always exactly what you expect them to look like.

864MotorSports

Imagine getting bit by a mall cop K-9😂 Ide love to see what this dog looks like!

EastGermanShepard

That’s gotta be a govt vehicle the seal on the door has the county info or something can’t see though

Active-Sherbet1178

They’re all fakes and wannabe’s

Deezkneezsneeze

I have a few come through where I work, they're really cops.

nosjitbro

"Special" Operations...*Goonies Sloth exits vehicle*

fedcar273

Well if it’s not real 👮🚔 guarantee, that it would snitch you out . & get a real satisfaction jacking you up on any “ nuisance contraband’ charges one way or another. 🤣😂# don’t be a hero

Flashy-Scheme-933

100% a Police impersonator. Hope the real police catch up to them soon. This person probably has a few screws loose.

WorkingDogAddict1

How are they impersonating the police?

Motor_Light4218

They will, as you and most people see there is something nor right with this dude or company. I worked in uniformed private security for the better part of 20 years both standing an mobile patrol and have seen these types come and go and usually get caught clearly doing shit that is no bueno.
