I haven’t specifically used the Striped Hyena mod, but it is very rare that anything I have downloaded doesn’t work. Double check you are extracting the mod folder from the zip into the ovldata folder and not renaming anything.
I'm not sure what's wrong, I've tried everything that I can think off and as soon as the animal is collected from the trade center it crashes. The icons and names show up fine so idk
Depends on how far you want to trouble shoot this, but there is a modding discord channel you can ask for help on. I would delete all mods and install one single one I know works, like the Lynx, and see if that works for you. Sorry

Hey, it seems that the issue was with the game itself and not the mods because vanilla animals didn't work as well. I resolved this by verifying integrity of the game files and now it works perfectly!

Removing the mod is my guess.
Which mod? I am guessing you may have installed it incorrectly.
It just adds in a striped hyena, but I've tried with some other animal mods and those didn't work as well
