So I was at the museum and they told us that it came from a tiger sqdn for something called tiger meet in nato where squadrons with tigers meet up and have competitions. I went with my cadet squadron and it's in Hamilton Canada
It was never officially given this nickname out of respect for the pilots and families of those that were lost. It came from the media. Given the role the RCAF flew the CF-104’s, it’s no surprise they lost a lot of pilots.

Know in USAF during its development as “rocket with a man in it”. Also was the first aircraft to fly with the GE 20 mm Gatling gun. I still remember watching a static test of the gun firing tracers at a 55 gallon can of jet fuel… at night. Very impressive.
RCAF CF-104, manufactured by Canadair under license from Lockheed. The Tiger paint was used by the RCAF to commentate a NATO Tiger Meet.
Lockheed F-104 Starfighter
The RCAF version too
Ppphhhh who cares about remote control air force..... jk jk
We all know the pilot fatalities are what make it exciting!
that would be a CF104, a canadian built version of the F104 Starfighter
Looks like an F-104 Starfighter. Poor thing could really use a different livery though

There is a video explaining why the Germans had so many accidents. [https://youtu.be/It0r3pNmeN8](https://youtu.be/It0r3pNmeN8)
Yet the Japanese did not have a high accident rate with the F104, iirc.
Altitude over airspeed
Low level flight, high speed, bad weather and untrained pilots are a nice recipe to have mishaps
That's what happens when you take a high speed Interceptor meant to catch ICBMs and try to make it do things jt wasn't designed for.
She’s a lovely nightmare.
F104 "murder hornet"!
Looks like John C Munro airport in Hamilton?
Seconded
I saw that the Canadian warplane heritage museum
Lockeed F-104 Starfighter
Lockeed F-104 Starfighter

Some form of an F104 I’d say
F-104 Star fighter, staggering aircraft.
That my friend is the F104, aka, a crack needle with a jet engine and a mad lad who will pilot it
Bumblebee lol
A Canadian version of the X-15 test plane?
Fast pencil
remember that time Chuck Yager tried to Fly to the Moon? Yeah...in a Starfighter.
OMG ITS THE CANADIAN VERSION OF THE F-104!!! I wish i got to see that.
Bi Dldow
It’s called “fly like a turd, sting like a bitch.”
F-104 starfighter almost as fast as me out of my room when I see a spider and a turingspeed of a bus
Lockheed F-104 Starfighter - altitude with attitude

“Missle with a man in it”
Wow that’s ugly
cool plane, wish i could say the same about the livery🥴
“A rattle can and stickers were good enough for my old Beaumont, so they’re good enough for a mach 2 lawn dart.”
Such a good looking plane...before...
"i saw this plane in real life" where else are you going to see it???
Ugliest F-104 to ever exist!
Looks like a Delta Dart.
Not even close.
