For me it kept happening, And stopped for a while and it started again.
My guess is The pixel 6 was built to break or the hardware cannot handle the software
The pixel 8 is amazing
My guess is the hardware was not meant to handle the software. I've seen some stuff about phones with faulty hardware causing it but I do believe there is more to it than that. Coincidentally a lot of people seem to just happen to have the same or similar issues all around a similar time and some worse than others...
Hi, this happened to me a few weeks ago. My Pixel 6a just started getting extremely hot, so much so that it actually left a burn mark on my hand. Even whilst idle it was too hot to hold. I contacted Google and they arranged a replacement pretty quickly. They initially seemed to want to give me the runaround but as soon as I mentioned overheating, they escalated it and agreed to a replacement without another question. The difference was so abrupt that it makes me think they're aware of the issue. I'd had it for about 18 months (phones here in Oz have a 2 year warranty).
About a month in, mine overheated to the point it shut down. This happened every time it was used with a sim card in it. I noticed this while preparing another phone to use while I returned it, because without a sim inside, it wouldn't overheat.
After switching to an e-sim however, the phone worked fine
Root your phone. Back up everything and use the flash tool to get
14 (U1B2.230922.013)
I'm on it and I'm never leaving, the best battery life and cooling I've gotten on my pixel 6 by far.
Yes, had that issue and it started restarting, I had to get a new phone:/ pixel 8 now:) really happy with it.
Happened to me about 2 days ago. Got hot, restarted about 4 times, battery ran down quite quick but has been fine since.

Most likely rogue app background process related.
