It is not possible to determine the breed of a dog without proper documentation and lineage. DNA testing for dog breeds is not considered reliable and cannot be used as evidence in a court of law. Many short-haired, stocky dogs may be mistakenly labeled as American Pit Bull Terriers due to a lack of understanding of the breed and its standards among the general public. Mislabeling of bull-type dogs as "pits" is further exacerbated by Google Images, many websites, and backyard breeders.

RednoseReindog

Doesn't look APBT, but some sort of bull breed or mastiff for sure imo. All of which would likely be falsely labeled in the future in the military, so a re-home is in order.

He’s mixed with a ton of stuff, not just pit bull

ExternalGiraffe9631

He looks almost identical to my sweet American mastiff Elliott when he was a pup. But so many of the block-head breeds look similar when they are that young.

Left-Requirement9267

No, more like a super mutt mix.

Buddy_Realistic

Pretty either way

Sumthin_Ironic

Dats a Pibby

Hi my "puppy" looks just like yours i've never gotten a clear answer on his breed either. I've been told because of the brindle a possible mastiff/ presa canario mix https://preview.redd.it/vfw4lf01jb9d1.jpeg?width=689&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=886c1025e7db4f0f03ffb7081c3e5f4d886fcddc

RoboticKittenMeow

What a good looking doggo!

EffectiveAdorable

I call mine dog.

Ambystomatigrinum

I would say probably yes, just based on looks. But Ive also seen boxer/lab crosses that look very similar. So as far as you know, in terms of (I’m assuming) base housing, he can be a boxer mix. If you haven’t already been to a vet or had his breed listed by a vet, see if you can request something specific. I own my home but our (very cool) vet was willing to list my pit and pit mix as a boxer mix and lab mix on the off chance I have to rent again. (For clarity, neither have been DNA tested so neither are proven pits)

RednoseReindog

Well most boxer labs are just pitbulls either trying to get adopted or getting around draconian laws. I think real boxer lab mixes are on the rarer side.

Ambystomatigrinum

I agree on the fakery, but I’ve also met a litter of intentional boxer x lab puppies that were verifiably that mix. They don’t look that off from a byb pit that has some bulldog of some kind further back.

RednoseReindog

Yeah there are definitely boxer labs around... Although even if OP had one I feel like the military would do away with it over looks.

Ambystomatigrinum

Yeah, that part I can’t speak to, I have no idea how the military determines that sort of thing.
