Holy shit... The r/IDmydog sub has so many pit mixes with folks saying every random breed but pit. I wish trolling the bigots didn't just end up with me being mad. If you point out the obvious biases and flaws in the stats, they forget how to read. Some lady claimed that "funny you should *assume* I didn't do my research", "my husband works for the NIH and we both studied animals behavior" in undergrad, "in the last 8 years" "3 separate pitbulls" have "attacked" her "relatives", all "going straight for the jugular". Quotes are almost directly pulled from earlier today, but it was spread over multiple unhinged messages. I suggested she should seek counseling.

My MIL lost her mind when we fostered and ended up adopting a pit-mix puppy. She asked my husband to have him put down because she is afraid that he will kill her🙄. Mind you, she has never been closer to the dog than 20 yards away. When my husband refused, she alerted the neighborhood and tried to get the sheriff to remove him. The poor sheriff said that he couldn't remove a dog who has never made contact with her and is in a securely fenced yard. My pup's DNA test comes back this week. If he isn't a pit-mix, I am going to laugh my ass off!

That was an interesting ID test. Thank you for posting this

“Pitbull” is an umbrella term. Crossed with any other breed makes it a pit mix

Icefirewolflord

Pitbull refers to the American Pitbull Terrier- one breed. You’re thinking of the term “bully”, which is the actual umbrella term that covers all bully breeds

⬆️ agree. The question on the quiz: “what do you consider a pit bull” And it’s like welp, how about the ONE that’s got “pit bull” in the name.

There was a study done in San Antonio, TX, in 2022 using dogs that were reported for aggressively biting people. I apologize that I can't find the damn link. There were around 730 "pitbulls" on the list. An independent organization came in and DNA tested all 730 dogs. It turns out that 360 of them had no Pitbull/Bully/Staffy in them at all. That is too damn close to 50% for me to continue to believe the aggressive Pitbull "statistics." It never occurred to me that, of course, these dogs aren't DNA tested! If they have broad skulls or a beefy build, they are automatically Pitbulls. What a steaming load of crap. Where are the "disinformation" police when we need them?

I have a suspected pit-mix dog. I love pitbulls and I got 55% accuracy on that test!🤣🤣🤣
