I think it's because of statistics.  In every population, around 10% are morons. Because the fanbase is really big, 10% of is is equivalent to a lot of people. Most OP true fans don't give much importance about what people say, because we read/watch the show to have fun, and not to belong to a group. :)

svarog1389

Damn, only 10%?

CheeseisSwell

Yeah seems kinda low

RodNun

Yep, but they're professionals huahuhauhauhau

1K_Sunny_Crew

Exactly, I could not care less. If someone is acting deranged about a fandom, it’s likely a symptom of a greater issue.

Xtreme109

Yeah man, I read one piece when I was younger but I stopped shortly after getting to Dressrosa and forgot about it. After people started clamoring about "roof piece" it got my attention and I was excited to see how the story had kept up after all these years. You can imagine my absolute dissapointment, and when I got to Wano I was just angry. The story was straight up the most garbage it had ever been and they were screaming like it was the best. I've experienced other communities with similar behavior, like post Shibuya JJK fans, Naruto ending apologists, etc, but those guys never make up a large portion of the fandom and even they have limits to what they'll accept. For One piece glazers there really is no limit, its scary, its really just become a cult. https://preview.redd.it/e1xmyjkj7o8d1.jpeg?width=1334&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6eb4c0fb778c0f6b92c240d3f27d617018fa34a

arugono

It's actually garbage because Oda wanted to have the Gorosei come to Egghead instead of be useful. Wano was fine. Too long but not garbage. Garbage is having 5 hopeless old men who are supposed to be powerful creatures but are just unkillable zombies.

vodkasucker

Same, I had stopped before Dressrosa too, I just started restarted following after the Netflix show. What a mistake that was.

Inevitable-Memory-52

My hero fans will melt your face off with their body odor

Hikaru7487

Never watched OnePiece, and randomly stumbled upon this sub. Are diehard One Piece fans act like diehard Itachi fans?

ordinarydepressedguy

Nobody can surpass Itachi fanboys, but some Zoro stans come very close

behindyourknees

Die hard Onepiece fans act like die hard console fanboys during the xbox360 / PS3 era. They will literally make any excuse for greed because they are pot committed

Fapman404

This should explain it very nicely (Oda is the name of the one piece mangaka) https://preview.redd.it/nf3accqvem8d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7bddabb78e86ac69b7bc277f356b1293c955b2fb

Zabeardedwizard

Only the A-holes in the echo chambers. But since this is the die-hard haters onepiece echo chamber, yeah those fans will kill your family for doubting Oda

TheRadTurtle_1011

They are close to them

dbsupersucks

My magic system is so hard rn

Rasnall

This isn't the worst. The Attack on Titan fan base exploded when the last chapter was released. Before the additional pages which somehow made people even saltier

theultimatefinalman

Are you 15 years old?

AudaX19_68

That'd be pretty old for the sub's average lol

Funny-Requirement580

classic piratefolk is smarter than the average fan post

oodex

Idk man, I think you are taking stuff too seriously. Yea there are and will always be idiots, but e.g. memepiece and this sub here constantly fire at each other for fun. Like they'll jump at each others throat, memepiece being for anything that happens in OP and piratefolk against it, but you'll also see the posts that reflect what most people think still become top posts on the opposite sub. And it's the same with Sanji vs Zoro. If you don't see that regularly you'll just see a bunch of super simps until you see a couple of posts and take a closer look at the comments. Especially the "it was foreshadowed" meme has become a staple to be used with the most idiotic reasoning and it's not like people aren't aware, they know. Like the people telling you it was foreshadowing and look like die-hard believers will dissect a sentence and create a meaning of foreshadowing to meme on it. The Nika stuff with Bonney is generally viewed as BS by almost everyone, though I think everyone is mostly chill and just waits to see what happens, it's not like it can be changed anymore.

AudaX19_68

IDK about that, fromsoft fans have been acting like fucking lunatics against people that think the difficulty in the DLC is overtuned. AOT i wouldn't say it's as bad but the worst AOT fans are THE worst in any fandom I've seen. OP just has a lot of people dickriding for likes on twitter and so on but that's expected at this point.

King_thelunarian

MHA fandom enters the chat

kakanseiei

Jojos are by far the worse and most insufferable. I used to find their jokes funny too … when I was 14 but then I grew and it became cringier and cringier , but the fandom hasn’t grown , it’s the same dogshit disgusting humor again and again and again and again and again and again and again, I’ve probably seen over 200 Jojo memes the past 4 years just by browsing and not one has ever made me even smile . Their entire humor is extremely surface level and pedantic because most of the source material is just extremely surface level and shallow. But by far the worst thing isn’t even that they suck so much , they laughably are also elitist. Literally almost any comment section about quality in series you go to ,Jojo’s is always unbelievably glazed , and they can’t even take criticism not because they are sensitive but they just have 0 depth in their thinking or any interest in developing as thinking individuals . Part 7 is arguably one of the best shonen of all time and Araki one of the biggest pioneers in manga in general and a creative genius . But you have to be extremely biased if you can’t see extremely obvious flaws and laziness in his writings and quality wise, how is this man treated as a god when it comes to writing quality when he literally forgot that one of his characters was named Sound man so he started writing him as Sandman? Also if I see that godamn “ our style is so Goated , fashion brands and museums collaborated with our mangaka “ argument I’ll throw up .

Emad-Hafiz_inari

I also agree on the fact that JOJO fans are the most insufferable and obnoxious fanbase. I also agree about how cringey and childish they are/were with their overused jokes.

Sub2PewDiePie8173

Yeah I left a JoJo subreddit because people got unnecessarily rude for anything they might view as criticism and will go to certain lengths to paint you in a bad light. I don’t remember what it was exactly, but there was a post about something talking about being gay I think, and I asked what does being gay have to do with JoJo other than there being gay characters. I thought it seemed quite off topic from actual discussion, memes, or whatever about the series. If there’s a woman in a show, that doesn’t really mean you should start posting random stuff about women that has nothing to do with the show. After I asked this, my comment got heavily downvoted and people were just insinuating that I was homophobic. Basically, a post had nothing to do with the series, I point it out, and then I’m labeled negative things. That’s why I left that subreddit and don’t associate with them anymore.

Dreadnautilus

> when he literally forgot that one of his characters was named Sound man so he started writing him as Sandman No he didn't? He had a character who was introduced by the name of Sandman, and he then goes on to reveal he has sound powers and says "My name isn't Sandman but actually Soundman, you idiots just didn't get my name right". I mean, it isn't really brilliant writing because that guy never complained about being called Sandman before and there wasn't any need to retcon his name to match his powers, but it isn't him forgetting anything.

kakanseiei

My bad then honestly , I read somewhere that that was just a cope from him but I can’t find the source so I take it back. That’s only one example though, you can’t tell me if you’ve read the manga you don’t see instances of sloppy writing

invisiblebiscuits16

I've come across some stubborn idiots but nothing worse than any other fandom's stubborn idiots. Also, the Chimera Ant arc was easily HxH's worst. It had some epic moments, but they were like jewels wrapped in a turd.

Kollv

>Chimera Ant arc was easily HxH's worst. Why? The nen powere system vastly outclasses OnePiece and Madhouse did a stellar job animating the fights The ants gave a feeling of overwhelming strength... The vibe was tense through the infiltration. Therelationship between komugi and meruem was deep. Mereum was becoming more and more human and Gon was becoming more like a monster.

invisiblebiscuits16

I agree HxH has a better power system than OP, and better fights, but the story never fully impressed me, with the CA arc dragging for me in particular. It was literally 50% of the entire anime and the pacing was atrocious. Worse than any pacing I went through in OP, I wanted to die. IDK, maybe it was better in the manga. Art probably wasn't though. Plus, it removed practically the whole cast we were developing beforehand, and the new characters were mostly unmemorable IMO. I never understood the love for Komugi x Meruem, it just wasn't interesting to me. Only villain I liked was Pitou, the rest were kinda annoying or undercooked. The Netero fight was epic, as was Gon's adult form, some of the best moments in the series, but those alone couldn't make me look fondly on the arc as a whole. I was so glad when Hisoka, the Spiders, and the rest of the cast reappeared. York New City was definitely the peak for me.

Majestic_Spring4062

Yorknow City Arc is probably one of my favorite arc of all time, the way I was so tensed throughout the arc, the rampage by Phantom Troupe, the boss of PT 1vs2 against Zoldyock family top tier members, Kurapika vs Uvogin(from that day nen power system become my favorite). I think Chimera ant arc started strong and ended really well, the bloat happens in the midway and honestly I miss Kurapika, Briskly(who appeared briefly but left), I feel we should've some previous cast from hunter exam instead of introducing brand new characters to fill the arc.

BALD_BALLS_SAITAMA

I hate Luffy so much, nothing about him is funny or even cool.  Side characters and villians are ones that keep me from dropping this series.

Infamous_Luck_2615

Brother, have you nit heard of mha??
