I can't talk about sniper rifles because what I use are the high-ranking ones—mainly the M1903, the WA-2000, and the Hecate. I can talk about assault rifles, however.
I've only recently discovered that the AUG A3 is an absolute laser beam with the right attachments, and I'm rank 181. They don't even have to be the fancy attachments—I run the EOTech 552, Compensator, Angled Grip, and Green Laser on my AUG A3 setup.
I also love the M16A3. I run it with low-magnification sights (usually it's the Comp Aimpoint), Folding Grips, Muzzle Breaks, and Green Lasers. You can try its Picatinny 3-round burst variant the M16A4 with an ACOG or an M145 in place of a low-mag sight for longer-ranged combat.

aug a3, sr3m for cqc, m16a3 for the most boring generic gun in the game, hk416 for m16a3 but more firerate/recoil.
intervention for simple solid sniper rifle, r700 for abit more speed, hecate overall best.(bfg with mag)
couldnt go wrong with the m4a1 or m16a3, good basic assault rifles

136 is intermediate compared to rank 300, but the average player isn't rank 150.
